Do you know what happened to Diann Burns? She's not on CBS2 anymore! Some woman name Anne State now achors the CBS2 6 and 10 p.m newcasts with Rob Johnson.

Diann's contract not renewed by CBS 2 and she was let go.

She's okay, but not my favorite anchorwoman. I was wondering what happened to her. It's not like I miss her or anything, I was just being nosy.

OK because I did not like her at all (did you know she made 2 million dollars a year). However She still is the spokesperson for Pediatric Aids Chicago. Burns also works with "Girls in the Game," an organization that promotes fitness and health as a way to teach girls to persevere and gain confidence to careers.

I don't think it helped her public image by being known for such a huge salary. It is like all she wanted was to be Chicago's highest paid anchor.

Burns also is active with the Ronald McDonald House, the Northern Illinois Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and The Support Group, an organization that assists high school students with school work and home life by providing tutoring and social services. Burns lends her time and talent to the benefit of numerous other causes, especially organizations that focus on children and education.

I wonder if Diann Burns regrets not renewing her contract with ABC 7...she once anchored the #1 newscast in Chicago and was very popular and today things aren't quite as good.

Management on ABC 7 didn't regret it. She should have taken that paycut then.

Yeah it does look like she's frozen. On the 2003-2005 open it looks like when the anchor smile they freeze after that. It different now with the Hothaus graphics.

I believe that was the time...seeing as in the newscast they didn't have the time & temp.bug yet.

I doubt that that time in the corner was sent out via the public feed. That just doesn't sound right. Maybe a stamp from your tape recorder or something.

Was Diann Burns more friendly than Kathy Brock? I didn't watch very much when Diann was on.

Well if you watch her now on CBS 2 she doesn't appear any friendlier than Kathy to me. I still can't believe she refused to renew her contract at ABC 7 only to end up with CBS 2. But I guess it was all about the money for her.

John Drury will be missed dearly. His presence was, and always will be, comforting. He was a very good anchor, one of the best.

This newscast continues didn't miss a beat when John Drury left in 2002 and then Diann Burns in 2003. It still remains the #1 newscast in Chicago.

I forget back then Kathy and Cheryl had to take a backseat to Diann Burns on the newscasts. It's all different today!!

I wish they still did this style opening with the 7 swishing in and out. I really liked it...

I actually think it would be a bit too much...cuz it wouldn't seem right unless there's swoosh sounds to go with the swooshes around the ABC7 logo, the HD logo, the talent names in the opens, and the transitions between the talent shots. I'd imagine it would all seem too messy.

I have that opening somewhere saved on a DVD. Do you have the one with Ron and Diann from 2003 before she left?

Nope...right after the open, my dad realized it was still recording from before the newscast & he cut the tape. =(
