I don't like that every single movie is in 3D. I remember when 3D was something that came around every now and then, and actually looked good. Today's so called 3D doesn't even come out at you. I saw Despicable Me in Real D and it didn't look any different than the normal one, all it did was hurt my eyes. Today's 3D is just a way to scam you out of an extra $4. I haven't tried IMAX yet, but as I recall, they had real 3D movies that actually appeared to go into the audience. To hell with Real D!

1st, 3d at home is an optional viewing experience that can be turned off. Then if all movies were 3d, the same proportion of the ones that were good before will be good in 3d. Fact is most movies suck. And news flash, they've already been making 3d TV's for over 3 years! 3d sets are mostly for those who need to replace a dying, big screen TV. So they're not spending 3G on 3D, but rather a minimum of near nothing, upwards to about $800 extra. There are $1700, 72 inch 3D sets for example.

It takes high quality, sharp HD digital, on larger sets to bring anything approaching good 3d to homes. Even though 3D concept itself is old, only recently have they been able to process digital info fast enough to make it happen at home. It's not the entertainment industry, it's the manufacturers making the tech available. It's the sudden drop in costs that spurred the attention.
