  • What he said still stands, and he actually has the last laugh now that Dawn of War 2 has concluded. The game has been revealed to be unfairly designed around Space Marines, with cover mechanics, level up mechanics, squad preservation mechanics, 3 heroes on each team, the only faction of which that doesn't have any heroes that aren't simple promoted versions of lower-ranked commanders and captains.

  • Everyone is getting but hurt about what this guy has to say when what he is saying is true.

  • rage

  • I wish they hadn't cut the Tau out of the game because they were my favorite. I probably wont play the new game for that reason.

  • @lnqusitor

And in my own not so humble opinion they still don't fit. I'd say they are boring, unimaginative, and up until the latest codex was released, didn't have any real characters. And even then, the way they make characters now is extremely contrived. The "Swarm Lord" didn't exist when this video was made. And Hive Tyrants weren't sentient, when this was made.

And the fact that they are now, doesn't enhance them at all.

  • @Lanparth Exactly how every immature self-centered child views the world. Anything that does not interest him is boring, unimaginative and should be removed so everyone can focus on the things he likes alone or he will throw a tantrum, and video it. A child who doesn't understand the world contains more points of view than just what he likes. Every disliked race is boring an unimaginative to such children. By extension all Games Workshop is stupid to such children who like other games.

  • @lnqusitor

And yet you still have yet to reply to my remark that they didn't have characters when this video was made. Interesting. You see the personal attacks on me in your remarks are rather more childish than my own response, I do say that realizing that it makes me look a fair share less mature as well may I add? Effectively, they didn't have characters, and the fact they now do is contrived. Sooo... Yea.

And fyi, I actually like every other race in current 40k. So GFY.

  • i dont know tyranids are pretty fun to play i mean i love space marines but i do usually play as tyranids because they are just fun so much

  • To be honest... Tyranids are there for you to play Space marines and kill as much of them as possible, same as chaos.. but ofc you HAVE TO kill more chaos becouse let's face it,you cannot Allow the Blasphemers to live!!!!

  • gamesworkshop should put the skaven in the 40k universe

  • @purpleSun6292 no, that would never work, but that would also be said about space dwarfs, and we know how that worked

  • @alienvspredator444

first off the models hopefully wouldnt look like bikers and they would play like a cross between tau and dark eldar. it would be a neat little wild card to throw into 40k

  • @purpleSun6292 Skaven are in the 40k universe.

  • @lnqusitor

    where sir? where?

  • @purpleSun6292 The are called the Hrud.

  • when tyranids stay in units with an HQ or some elites they get something called synapse just look it up dude

  • This video is a good "trap" for people who don't read the log-dates lol.

Otherwise this video is outdated since Tyranids are officially in, and I'm lovin' it!

  • Chaos fanboy much?

  • so you was wrong u arse

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Tyranids ftw and Ravener hero <3

  • Heh, I agree with what you say, but I have to point out in hindsight, you forgot Chaos has been butt-fucked at every opportunity in the past. XD

I would've bought in to your theory if I saw this.

  • Hey bro, great review video, you pointed out lots of interesting facts.

So how come making a Chaos review for the fan?

    yes no maybe? lol

  • @BaalBlade

I do intend to make one tonight or tomorrow.

Been too busy playing the game ;)

  • there is chaos rising u know .... dude ... new to comp games ?

  • @TheAideeeee

March 31rst 2008 this video was posted "dude" ;)

Chaos Rising, released oh you know, last Thursday. Two days ago. :P

  • @Lanparth lolz... people are idiots huh?

  • I know, its funny. lawl.

  • Tyranids may be implemented well in the campaign, but in Multiplayer they don't play like they were meant to be played. You actually have to value the lives of your hormagaunts and termagaunts, and retreat when the numbers get low. Codex Edition mod helped fix it, but A: It's just a mod to the game and B: every single bolter shot the space marines have explodes, which is cool for some units, but when they all do it it gets really weak really fast. But I still like playing DoW2 nids regardless.

  • there ARE tyranid-mods for winter assault, dark crusade and soulstorm

i played them all and its good work they fit in dawn of war 1 and are well playable

    and u r right

tyranids dont fit into small squad-based battles (they are only playable in the multiplayer as well)

and there u have "bigger" armies

and no squads of 6 members or so

    ;)

  • I wish you were right man, I really do...

    ... I hate tyranids...

  • same

  • You swear to much, man...

  • Tyranids are officially in Dawn of War. MiC got served.

  • Just a question how do we know there are only gona be four races.

  • Fuck Tyranids! Spacemarines and Chaos FTW!

  • lol recent footage of the nids certainly does make this vid a lil...well...redundant? ;) lictor looks way cool :P

p.s. take this clip off and embrace the swarm....

  • They aren't.

  • chaos is not the biggest race in 40K

the nids are, they eat whole galaxies

  • Yes, but atm they are not the most dangerous/threatening. There is only 1 world between the imperium of man and a realm of chaos: cadia. If cadia falls (it wont, i can bet on it) there would be no logical reason to stop chaos from creating a realm of chaos in the Wh40k galaxy.....'nuff said

  • god man u make me piss lol

i agree with all u said tho

  • Bugs are in. Now when will people realise the whole squad thing is SMs.

  • its sad that you used so much ligitamate logic, only to be told you were wrong :( . At least the tyrandids look cool.........

  • Tyranids suck dick.

  • My thoughts exactly

  • tyranids have just been revealed for dawn of war 2:)

  • dude i think your awesome everything your saying makes perfect sense... whats the point of having orks and tyranids when they're the exact same and orks DO have character for the DoW2 squad combat... ridiculous CHAOS HAS TO BE IN DoW2 they're just pleasing the cry babies for wanting tyranids to have "their fair share"

  • They are in! They are in! Hell yes!!!

  • Well, hopefully they will add chaos in the expansion(???). It sure will help sales if they come with one for DoW2. It would also help if the didn't have a campaign for Tyranid, as it wouldn't make sense unless they pulled a retarded gene stealers story line.

  • wow, i cant beleive they are gettin rid of chaos....theres no friggin way..perhaps theyll up it to 5/6 races? is that at all possible? god i even play chaos on Table top...thats depressing as hell if they get rid of chaos...

  • Bet you feel like a goose now....

  • Look at my second video. And all my comments for the last few weeks saying that I believed that Nids would be in the game (though they don't deserve to be imo)

So, no, I don't feel like the goose.

  • reasoned analysis

    i prefer chaos too...

  • So much for common sense huh?

  • Hehe, Lanparth, Tyranids were in fact confirmed, as everyone with a brain knew they would :)

  • No...they were not confirmed neither included in dow 2.

    gullible dork.

  • Actually, they were (unfortunately) confirmed for Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II.

  • Yes, they were. And note my second video all saying, BEFORE TYRANIDS WERE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED, that they were confirmed.

    Zahr. You fail. lawl.

  • Dont get me wrong, they might just be big units, but they seem to be characters from the codex

  • Well actually thats not entirely true, Tyranids have two big characters, The Red Terror, and Old One Eye

  • Tyranids have been officially confirmed as of today,August 19,at Leipzig games convention. All Chaos fanbois here and from the Relic Forums, suck a big fat nut!!!

  • Isn't a broodlord kinder a inderpedent character he kinder has personality.

  • if you realy wand tyranids go download the dark crusade mod you can paly the tyranids (oyeah if you go against the cpu dont think there weak)

  • Its confirmed NO NIDS

    1. Space Marines

    2. Eldar

    3. Orks

    4. Chaso Space Marines

So STFU that how it is.

  • Evidence?

  • Well if you watch all of the vids that have been released and all of the pictures any nids?

Oly eldar, orks, space marines, chaos

And go on the Wesite and the forums its said no nids

  • I've yet to see a video with Chaos in it.

  • Thats because they aren't in it.

  • Really? Well that just sucks ass. Chaos Marines are my favorite.

  • The latest movie isn't particularly conclusive who the "them" are the dying Eldar Farseer was referring to. The red hue in the sky could be a Warp Storm or a incoming cloud of Nid spores. The only real evidence that favors Chaos is the cliff-hanger at the end of DoW. Personally, I'm hoping for the Alpha Legion to return, if only because I want to see that story continue. And forums are bulk, the website is under construction, and Relic is dodging the question so far. Meaning anything goes.

  • lol noob, read up on current events

  • BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!

  • Also, Fluff-wise, a tyranid swarm is kind of unkillable. So, for the game to portray them properly,. they would sorta everntually win any war.... Either they would have to make them make no sense, or they would win anything.

Another posibility is that Tyranids will only exist in the campaign version of the game. The same way that Imperials existed as an NPC race in DoW 1, but were unplayable.

  • Ok first even though tyranids have no character they arent sopposed to there controlled by a vast enigma simmilar to the overmind of starccraft and seconed and third ABSOLUTLEY NOWHERE DID RELIC SAY THAT THERE WERE 4 RACES OR THAT THERE WAS A MAXIMUM OF 6 SQUADS

  • please don't spue a load of shit out of your mouth and call it an oppinon

  • he has a point the tyranids are going to be a overpowerd and get crushed in five minutes in the game

  • reet, first of all they havnt said there only putting 4 races in, it doesnt make sense. why take them out. im a tyranid player on the table top, i also play orks, eldar, chaos and tau, they shud just put them all on there.

i agree with folifurieuz, it cud b like the necrons in winter assult. anyway, i hope they actualy put a decent story in there like on the very first dawn of war, bt with all the factions.

  • ur a fagot even thou i play chaos ur so gay douch bag

  • does anyone really care?

  • We have all seen the teasers etc .. for Dawn of War 2. If the designers are smart enough to make this new system work surely they are smart enough to make it work for the Tyranids aswell. I understand what this guy is saying but still think that what he is saying is also just lack of faith in the ability of all of the Dawn of War 2 Creator Team, Relic etc .... ( what he really means is if they add Tyranids he isnt skilled enough to win xD )

  • so u have played tau but you havent too lol

  • Broodlord is a special character isnt it? old 1 eye etc?

lol, yea "without number" rule, all gaunts under a certain number of points jst reform at ur table edge.

i do agree that they shouldnt add nids cos they wouldnt be able to fairly add them cos its pretty much, nid's vs anything = nids win

(if done according to backstory etc)

lol, maybe they will have a mode where if you take to long to win then nids drop and eat everything, i duno but yeah done add them..

  • i love chaos except i like Warhammer chaos not warhammer 40k

  • I have to agree that Tyranids do not coincide with the planned gameplay framework, but consider the possibility that they could be a non-playable faction that plagues the campaign map, and behaves in a perfectly Tyranidical manner. Also, consider the possibility that certain factions could have a completely unique gameplay, not in the classical sense of 'this army is firepower oriented, this one bla bla bla...', but in that the core game mechanics could be unique for each race. Just my thoughts.

  • Your exactly right. Chaos is a much better fit for this game. Besides why would you take out the main enemy? It dosent work =/

  • ich kann deine hackfresse nich mehr sehen nim dein scheiss video raus

  • Yea u can talk all u want man but um...that thing in the video is not a warp storm but shadow in the warp.Shadow in the warp=Nids

  • i know they wont but i hope tau get into dawn of war 2

  • Actually he's right even tyranids are awesome chaos would work better

  • dude i think that anybody who thinks tyranids shouldnt make it into dawn of war 2 is an asshole, and people who think that it must since there was only a mod which was incomplete in Dark crusade but what i'll say is this. to anybody who thinks tyranids dont deserve to be in dawn of war 2, FUCK YOU!. think about it. In dawn of war 2, relic wants to bring the pleasure of destruction in the game to players and, tyranids fit perfectly into that! This person obviously hasnt thought about what he said

  • Yeah I agree with what your saying I've said it myself many time but I do think that they will appear in an expansion like I don't know dawn of war Tyranid assault.

  • 4:08 you said you've played tau, and then right after you said you haven't played tau.

you obviously know nothing about nids. Tyranids have characters and commanders. broodlord is a character. synapse creatures are commanders.

  • synapse creatures just relay control from the hivemind to the foot troops, like the zerg overlords.

the closest thing tyranids have to characters and commanders are genestealer cultists and once and a while a broodlord that was arbitrarily given sentience

  • Really cool review dude. I can see why you don't think the Tyranids would make it in, and I have to agree. I definitely don't think they'd make it in when Dawn of War II comes out, maybe an expansion. I agree that they don't have personality or really squads. They could serve as a good counter point. Have more of gurilla warfare. I'm sure the people at Relic would be smart enough to balance it out. Also if you have played the Star Craft games. The Zerg do work, and they're very similar.

  • true, its because Dawn of war II is supposed to be smaller scale, where starcraft is massive

  • Yeah, I suppose. But like I was saying the Zerg don't have personalitys, but they still work in the game, so that's something to think about.

  • Not starcraft.

  • Sorry?

  • COme on!! Relic just needs to balance the game a bit...

  • he is right but relic should make expansoin pack with trinids for the game

  • I do agree it should be in an expansion pack though

  • I don't know why people think tyranids will be unplayable, it worked perfectly well in the tyranid mod in the original. Tyranids are also completely centred around leaders, as without them they just mill around pointlessly. Oh, and the reason relic said they didn't include tyranids was because the graphics engine they used didn't do the organic models justice.

  • tyranids i think will not be playable... hmm like maybe... imperial guard in dawn of war or necrons in winter assault!!

  • I agree with the video guy, tyranids have no place in the dawn of war 2 official realease. Thus thats why fans make mods, if you want tyranids download the mods, install them and troubles are over... Quit whining.

  • guess what Tyranids do have characters. the Brood lord is a character hes the first genestealer to arrive and on a planet and become the leader of the cult. while you might not think hey have personality read the codex. tyrants, warriors n brood lords are all extremely intelligent but its an alien intelagenc that humanity just can comprehend.

  • Not to mention you really need to have a synapse creature near your biggest squads or they may sit there like lumps or retreat (unless the rules have changed recently). I have to admit I haven't played for a while, but I'm guessing I've probably been in the game for longer then most of you ;) Sorry if this didnt make any sense - I've been brinking a little dit :)

  • the leaders of the cults are matriarchs are something like that.

and the natural cunning they have and sentience are completely different things.

a spider is cunning but its still not sentient or smart

  • fuck you bitch tyranids are awesome say something when you can talk properly

  • What the hell?

  • yeahhh but they could use nids as an enemy in single player, trying geurilla war against them with few squads

  • erm, the reason that tyranids wer,nt in the previous games is because relic did not not think they could do them justice, which they admitted they failed with orks and imps not doing them justice either, it was a simple as the games engine was simply not powerful enough. now what i imagine is, that wether the upgraded essence engine they are now using is powerful enough or not, they will have tyranids as a non playable race, and they will shape the campaign storyline...like necron in dow w.i

  • i was reallyo hoping they were going to put in the nids this time, but if what hes says is true then i definantly change my opinion, and almost dont want the game anymore, i play tt and all, and i love dow but 6 squads is gay ass, and again tyranids individualy suck balls(except for carnifex hive tyrant etc.) hence the fact that they attack in the billions and that theyre squads consist of 32 units as opposed to a SM squad

  • complete douchbag

    but right about tyranids

  • if they do the finacialy right thing and not point them in, pisses a buncha people off, TECHINACLY not the finacialy right thing, so putting in somthing PEOPLE the CONSUMER the BUYERS of the game care about is finacialy right...

  • Oh and chaos dont give a shit about their troops, wada think they sacrafice for the blood gods!! rawr they fuckin kill each other.

  • Starcraft rip off? Everyone knows that Starcraft is a rip of Warhammer 40k.

  • If Dawn of War II is based on skirmishes and combat between smaller units, then Tyranids could still work in the form of Genestealer cults or whatever.

But yeah, Chaos fits better (being the Imperium's direct opposite and all) and has much more flavour. Tyranids are still really, really cool, though.

  • Gene stealer cults are considered a seperate part of the army not officially part of the main tyranid force and they dont have monsterous creatures, also the stealur cults rarly have atual pure strain gene stealers as it takes years to hybrids to make one.

  • But they're still Tyranids, and as far as I know, they're still canon (from a fluff point of view).

  • chaos shud bee in it for a classic DOW ^^ any ways i lurve chaos............. every team (mostly space marines) are a nubish team i mean mass wit drednaught WTF IS THAT? CHAOS RULES AND FUCKS EVERYTHING but me and other chaos lurvers ^^

  • As long as I'll be able to pwn tyranids on the battle field with my space marines and drednaught, I'm happy. :)

  • To say that the incorporation of Tyranids into DoW 2 is impossible or even undesirable is pretty silly. They put Cron in, even though Cron warriors "don't die", they managed to balance that well. Additionally, they put both Sisters and DE in when they have no real significance to the WH40K story line. Old One Eye, Red Terror, and Death Leaper sound like commanders to me so there goes that. They could if they wanted to, no problem, but I don't think they will just yet.

  • Old One Eye, Red Terror, and Death Leaper are not commanders, there names given to them by other races due to things they have done, the hive mind does not see them as individuals.

  • by the looks of the trailer only spacemarines eldar and tyranids are in

  • ooo man if they cut chaos I will choke a bitch

    Tyranids are stupid anyway.

  • y r they stupid

  • No Tau? What the hell kinda DoW game is this?!!?!?!?

  • i bet there will be as many add-ons as for DoW or even more^^

  • its just as he says. the combat system tyranids use on the battlefield cant be implemented into DoW 2. its impossible. if the really did want to put nids in it they would have to build the whole game around it and remove the combat system that has made Dow so popular. so, precisely as he says, it wont happen if Relic have any common sense. sorry nid lovers.

  • I agree, they shouldnt be, Tyranids would have to like, break the rules of the game in how they play, work and fight, and they would have to develop a totally new set up for them to work, i think it would be frikin awsome if they did that, and they should, just not quite yet. I also belive it will be the origanal 4 races from the 1st DoW game, we have seen trailers for DoW II with orcs, space marines and eldar, it just seems right for the chaos to join them, cant wait for the game, Tau fan here!

  • Just because Tyranids won't be a playable race dosen't mean they wont be in the game.

  • Now theres an idea, tyranid as non-playable but very present.... hmmm.

  • they could put tyranids as a squad that could be used by the orks or choas

  • that is impossible. how could chaos or orks be able to control tyranids.

  • Hes right. besides orks alredy are the mele specilests. Plus niods wouldent have buildings...

  • ok here is my take on which race fits who...orks: people who want simple mass charges and big axes, Eldar: gay people, tau: communists, gaurd: like he said WWI and II fans, Chaos: surpremists , Space marines: Acient rome or greece fans...and well when it comes to the nids...does anyone know if horus has any virus bombs left?!

  • I agree whole heartedly mate, they are a fantastic army to control and battle on the tabletop, but in a game where tactics and a command structure is paramount, they will not fit in at all.

  • i love tyranids. Hence my name. But I completely and honestly agree with you. I thought dawn of war ii was going to be all that, but, only four races!?!? Dark crusade had more than that!!! The only thing I would use tyranids for in dawn of war 2 is to make movies.

  • chaos should be the forth faction

  • Red Terror and Old One Eye are characters for the Tyranids I believe.

  • To all those who believe that tyranids could not make a playable race in DoW II, look back at starcraft. The zerg (which were based on the tyranids) are a VERY playable race. AND THEY ARE BASICALLY THE EXACT SAME THING.

  • yo no offense u r dumb read his other video he even said there is a high possibility that nids will be the 4th race because chaos are going to have there own expansion because they are going to be huge

  • but zerg are extremely differnt than tyranids because of a lawsuit they had, they may look the same but they have differnet ways and behaviors.

  • why dont they make the tyranids an enemy of the races, it would be better than having them not invluded at all, i suppose

  • Dude they wont have chaos they even said in an interview that Chaos is going to have there own expansion pack so im guessing the 4th race will either be dark eldar or tyranids because it deals with a green cloud coming and the only races that fits would be dark eldar or tyranids

  • btw they can get tyranids too work if you look at what the tyranid mod team was able to do they were able to create a mod for tyranids that work with the DoW concept so if they can do it so can relic and the creators of DoW if you want to talk more on this you can message me on my youtube page

  • so wait...is a chaos expansion pack a definite or just a guess....cuz im already flipping a shit that in my opinion the most powerful race in the fuckin warhammer galaxy isnt even in the fucking game!

  • they said they might.

  • as a Nids player i must reluctantly agree and weep...

    damn you relic... damn you...

  • If there going with the story of warhammer, there going to have ALL races. I dont like the Try. myself, they are cheating bastards on the tabletop game.

  • So ture. unfortanly

  • this guy is absoloutly rite !!!

    Dude your great !!!

i myself love the franchise, and i have a 'nid mod for SS and...

    ...They suck !

  • he got some solid arguments but man i love the nids

  • I think tyranids are cooler then chaos and i could argue with you over their fitting them in. However, i don't think nids will be replacing chaos i think its very likely to see 5 races.

  • Stupid blizzard, I could just about bear them ripping elves and dwarfs since who does'nt? But starcraft 2 so rips the space marines and nids. The big blue guy in the trailer could be mistaken for a s marine. Lanparth, Games Workshop did'nt completely rip the nids from alien, they have different personalities and the nids have eyes. They are meant to be an animal hybrid project gon wrong so they fit into the whole galaxy of the far future frame.

  • YOU ARE RIIIGHT!!!

    FUCK TYRANIDS!!!!

  • BELL END!

  • You make a lot of good points here...mainly being I wouldnt swap nids for chaos either. But basically what your saying is you want the same line up as the first DOW...yawn. Nids have something that no other army can match, which is sheer visual horror (something I'd like to see in glorious HD) and all that end of the world stuff. Nobody plays the end of everything bad guy like the Tyranids, right? They eat your planet if you lose for Pete's sake.

  • You'd be surprised. There are many people playing Tyranid armies on the tabletop, won't be surprised to see alot in DoW2.

  • Tyranids would've been fun to play in a normal RTS like the last one. I wanted them to be in DOW2 before I found out about the new and disappointing gameplay. I was looking forward to unleashing legions of gaunts

  • I think they could get around to making the Tyranid's army setup in Dow2 a little different from the others so they could be unleashed in all their numerous glory. By simply implementing quantity over quality they could achieve that.

Having them as a unplayable faction in and off campaign would be great too though in my opinion.. Imagine several players working together to topple a seemingly infinite horde of Tyranids. Madness? It'd be glorious!! :D

  • the three main races are space mariens orcs and chaos so theyll definetly will be in it

  • Relic haven't say that they're using the low squad counts on the other race.

I, personally, expect a 'sekrit' fifth race to be announced.

  • Have you actually read the Codex? I can see it fitting easily.

  • Out of curiousity, what do you play? tabletop I mean, maybe I missed you say it or something.

  • CHAOS IS THE ONLY TRUE ANSWER

  • yeah well WAAAGH!!!!!
