I dont think this will keep water clean. Go for canistor filter. I am using canistor fir my turtle.

I have the same filter but it's not filtering anything (there's things floating around and there's no suction). It's only pumping out water. Is there something wrong with it? I just bought it today....is it broken?

@ShAnnY820 I would have to see it myself but if it is pumping out water it is working (as long as you have filter media inside) because for water to be pumped out it has to have filtered through the filter first.

DDDDDude that is a great idea with your turtle's cuttle bone. i never thought about clipping it! Because i hate how the cuttle just floats for a while then sinks and they never really pay much attenhtion to it after that! I'm actually upgrading to several(2) 40 gallons. plan on filling each the full forty with water and then custom desgining a land area that connects both tanks and havin a 20 gal refugium connected to it to grow plants to take care of my nitrates!!

Those lights won't hurt the turtles eyes, they're fine people use them all the time, you probably read that night light bulbs hurt their eyes, turtles don't need a night light they prefer complete darkness. Or that regular incandescent bulbs hurt their eyes, get them a reptile basking lamp, the one zoo med makes.

u should always get a filter wit the power to clean 3 times the size of ur tank. so u would need a 120gal filter. i know OD just check out youtube vids on how to make ur own filter so its cheaper and easier and just get a 200 gal pump

@odtandbuddies You don't always need a 3x filter i have people do fine with filters that are 1x or 2x i have even seen someone with a 20 gallon filter in a 55 gallon and it looked clean.

check out the fluval u3 model. It is an upgrade to the fluval 3 plus, with better features such as the mutli location air flow. Since you bought your filter at PetSmart, you may exchange it for the newer model. Their return policy will allow that. Cheers.

i USE THE 4 PLUS and it is completely up to the job if you are prepared to clean it two weeks. 'which you should be doing anyway'. And that is for two 5x6 inch turtles in a 200l tank

Florescent bulbs that are UVB usually dont give off heat. So I use a little regular light bulb for heat

I got my ball python tank off craigslist too! its like 40gallon and it was onlr $20 and came with a lamp shade two hides and a big water bowl (zoomed thats like $15 new) what a steal! and a screen top... i wish i could find another deal like that for my turtles im getting... :D

does your tank get algea alot since it is infront of the window? mines seems to do thinking of getting a background...Hows the filter working out? You should still use your other one as well keep the water even more clean...lol...I have a filter like your old one I just bought some plants that suction to the glass to hide it and the water flows down the plant

Yeah my tank does get algae because of the window but it isn the only place I can put it right now. The fliter is working great so far. My other filter is too noisy. Cool I think I saw that in one of your videos.

Hey, I have 3 ybs turtles and I we don't want to put any fake plants in because we're afraid they'll eat them. We can't find any real ones. But do you think fake plants are okay? do yours eat them?

My turtles bit them a little when I first put them in there but when they figured out they werent edible they lost interest. I think it would be hard for them to eat them until they are large turtles.
