  • Great idea, thanks for this! Perfectly safe for people with a bit of common sense

  • LOL....I hope you and your box of danger live far away from me and my home!

  • great vid, well done thanks. All I need is a rack of some kind.

  • Lots of plastic in this setup - any thought to a metal or wood container and hotplate with pan of wood chips on it? Has the added benefit of more heat options and greater smoke generation for the same degree of heat.

  • I actually begun laughing half way through because im like "this has got to be the most dangerous smoking box ive ever seen

  • Thanks for posting this looks like a great idea

  • looks great, thanks for posting this :)

  • yes. it can set things on fire. type "bellingham, wa garage fire home-made cold smoker" into google (won't let me type link) mos def, NOT SAFE. Don't be fooled by the british accent- NOT A LEGIT IDEA.

  • @spudmanke The cold smoker was made from a cardboard box

  • some chick in my neighborhood started a massive garage fire from this very video don't do it. NOT SAFE. DUH.

  • @spudmanke highly unlikely i'd have thought if the chips are in a ceramic container at the kind of depth mine are at - even if it caught alight the flames wouldn't reach the lid! however almost no chance of that - sawdust doesn't sustain a flame unless packed fairly tightly and you keep blowing on it, even if you light it with a torch. Plus bottom of a ceramic pot the CO2 will extinguish it.

  • you know that a soldering iron is not really good for making food? i hope you didnt solder with that before...

  • I have a small solder iron like that but it gets to 1200 Fahrenheit. could this start something on fire?

  • Looks interesting, and the moment you said 百円 shop I knew I could make it here!

  • @japanval I love daiso!!

  • Dude, just put 1 pack of cigarette and burn it inside. you'll get a huge smoke in that box.

  • @cowboyjames008 guess that's why texasss bbq is bullshit.....

  • Thank you for the information.

    Clear instructions, and nice demonstration.

  • What if you put weed in it??

  • you need to clean your darty box your rack looks filty i wold never eat att your house

  • @916wd It isn't filthy that is the deposit from the smoke from my previous session, only a little while before.

  • @916wd And you need to learn how to spell.

  • Gotta say I like the idea but I think you would have got better results from using new wood chips, it seems a bit silly not to use fresh chips every time when they are so cheap, still good work that man.

  • Listen - It's a cold smoker - so any food grade plastic (ie also dishwashr and MW proof) will not deteriorate in even hot smoke enviroments (typically about 100C or 212F) soo you could pipe smoke from a hotplate intot his box perfectly safely.

This is actually very clever but I would not recommend using the soldering iron for those kinds of periods - Its designed for short time usage and leavign it on for 12 hours insulated by wood chips to smoke some bacon is just asking for trouble imo.

  • Plastic no no no

  • @dave777blaster Umm, I like my smoke with a little plastic flavor!! :P

  • @dr07828 ah that mustard gas auroma on the ribs bon apetite

  • plastics noooooo......

  • Looks great, I think I will try it. Thanks.

  • OMG!

very simple to build and safe to cook.

Looks like very easy to make the smoker.

    I wanna make it :)
