Hey! I found this site by accident when looking for radio "Action Central News." It came from some legal action news site. Gadz00kers, even my favorite shoe store Payless has some legal spies after it.
It was a good ITV franchise that sadly was taken over by Carlton and eventually destroyed. Now all it shows is a news bulletin and local weather, same as most other ITV contractors. Modern ITV is just a dumping ground for repeats, soaps and rubbish reality shows.
Why did they continue to report if no one would ever get to see it?
I've often wondered if this is true or a myth, since it would have been demeaning to force the presenters to read the news when they knew that no one could see them.
Or did they do it after all so that Central could demonstrate that they were making every effort to produce dual region new services, despite the strike, as the IBA required? Surely not?
All signs point to it being true. As the conditions of their license from the IBA required to provide dual-region news services. Unfortunately, the strike hampered things and cost Central News East two years, Nick Owen, and Anne Diamond.
Central News East first broadcast in 1982 was delayed for 2 years due to strike action who was the very first presenters of Central News East in March 1984 at its Lenton Lane Studios Nottingham

I think the 'why' means 'why bother':
Why did they continue to report if no one would ever get to see it?
