I have completed this mission several times already...... I won because I made use of the hoplite's high agility to do quick evasions and the high fire rate with constant fire......
It is hard because the aircraft flown is very weak in offence & defence and enemies are in good planes, also to note the only wingman is a single ace.
@rottendrummer92 not really.. he was just trying to turn around to get at me again. If he was being evasive he would have made tighter turns. I was REALLY lucky swan didn't crash into me after I gunned down the last plane. lol
What I really hate about htis mission was that: I've been flying hoplites almost exclusively since the Hollywood missions, as they're by far the easiest planes to fly. The Devil's Horn is almost a joke if you use a modified hoplite, for example, as you can run circles around everybody and blowing up the rigs are a cinch. It's only because of the peashooters and paper thin armor they give you that make this mission way harder than it should be.
Easy and fun are not the same thing all the time. Sometimes I like a good dogfight. If they let you modify the hoplite this mission would not be nearly as hard.
I LOVE CS! I do agree with you that you got a little lucky. CS randomizes which location Booth will be at and you happened to get him on the first one at the brothel which means you only had Booth, 2 Brigands and later I think 3-4 more Brigands. If you go to locations where he isn't you still get 2 Brigands to deal with at each. It's hard but I've done it once or twice completing the mission not finding Booth til the last location which puts it at 11-12 Brigands and Booth to deal with.
I beat almost every level with a custom hoplite. They aren't bad if you remember one thing NEVER sit there. If someone is hitting you instantly turn hard around. Nothing can out fly you, but it's easy to take your down. Now imagine trying to get all those 4 locations for stunts? heh
Actually I replayed the level until I got him. The place where I went to he is there about 60% of the time, and if not there he is at the diner. I wasn't going to bore people by trying all the other places :)
maybe it's different in your game because for me it's about 60%. There is even an online FAQ that says the same. as long as I had the game I must have played this level 50 times and only 1 times did booth not appear from entering that location and then the diner after.
My game sure is somewhat different. I've never been quite sure if it's a rip or just a poorly-translated version.
You're also right about "hardest mission"... I think it generates the most frustration, with the next mission marginally behind it and the second New York mission getting the "bronze".
Maybe, still it's only hard because of the very low armor you have. If you know to spin around everytime you about to take damage it's easy. Possibly one of the hardest missions is the devils horn if you do it the wrong way. You get to the zep first and you face 8 planes by yourself!
Oh yes. It's no cake walk both ways, especially with all the effort you need to set that zep free and get your crew out.
The Hoplite is a very special plane, and I've never really managed to do anything impressive with it - not with those Brigands that can nail you even with their rear turrets!
I made a custom hoplite, which still sucks but I can get past most of the early missions with it. The only time I have trouble is when things are timed, or facing other hoplites. My best advice is to spin around anytime your taking damage.
I hate Black Hats. They are so annyoing!

yeah this mission is really annoying... :) hoplite has maneuver problems as well... when you try to turn like screw... clockwise - anticlockwise...

Thanks ^^ I personally think I got a little lucky, but I remember to always take advantage of the turning speed to live.

Finding Boothe on your first stunt of the four is sure a fluke, but you've made the most out of it :-)

I doubt that. When I played this mission, I found him at that first spot in maybe 5% of the time.
However, multiple replays have led us both to the same result :-)
