  • I love his little chuckle. That's the way you play the Joker....

  • @Beheaamoth

hmm i thought he fell then his skin got bleached

  • I like how she tries to comfort him while he's in agony haha.

  • I still dont get y he wore that dumb make up

if Any1 nowz y please tell me

  • 0:30 Nice entrance! Either you've never heard of a door, or you just like pulling glass out of your shorts!

  • 6 people had to go clean themselves up because of the Joker scaring them.

  • the sound of the glass breaking is classic! and you can see the wire by the end (holding batman) LOL epic movie! :)

  • love his witty remarks

  • Best Batman movie ever made!

  • @Mercenary78

What do you think of Batman Returns, Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Batman Mask of the Phantasm, Sub-Zero and Batman Under the Red Hood to Superman/Batman The Animated Movie?

  • @Johnlindsey289 i dind't like Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. Bale's voice is not to take seriously

  • @Mercenary78

What about the animated show? seen that one, very adult for an animated superhero show and the animated movies were great too.

  • @Johnlindsey289 yes i loved the animated series, not childish.

  • that bitch fucking screams alot

  • @2pacAmazesSuperman Hey, let's face it. Mary Jane watson from the spiderman movies screams a heck of a lot more.

  • @iknownothing34 yea i hate it when they make the girl acts helpless or when they make them x100000 times stronger than the 7ft tall bodybuilder guy

  • Jack's joker is closer to that of the comic books from the 20's-40's, this joker has a comedic side and kills simply because he enjoys it. Heath's joker is closer to that of the "Killing Joke", this joker has a darker side and kills because he has a point to prove. Both versions are great!! It is difficult to compare Jack's and Heath's joker as they are very different. I prefer Jack's version, but that's okay it is just an opinion.

  • @GoldenTimes1952

What about Mark Hamil on the animated series as Joker?

  • @Johnlindsey289 What's your question/point, a lot of people were comparing jack's and heath's jokers so I gave my opinion on the two. What do you want my opinion on Hamill's joker? If you do here it is, again another amazing version. Hamill's joker was a mix of the two, he had a dark side but still had comedic elements which I like to see in the joker, no question also that Mark's joker had the best laugh of any versions, truely insane laugh. He did the animated series justice as the joker.

  • Wizard of Oz anyone?

  • Its called batman the movie Jack is doin a great job as the joker but i think batman in The dark knight is cooler

  • whats the name of this batman film sumone plz respond

  • @axiellelover Ehmm, "Batman"?

  • I swear, she has the most loud, annoying scream -__- ... the one character that irritated me even though I adore this movie xDD

  • Both Jokers from both films are great

  • What a fucking scene. The white on the Joker's face in addition to his smile and laugh, and then Batman crashing through the glass was truly classic...such a stylish movie

  • 6 people know shit about excellent cinematography and life in general!

  • Well said

  • Joker's got pudding face!

  • Nicholson was the best... These little fucks 2day don't no what good movies and good acting r!!! Period

  • one of the top ten best scenes in movie history.

  • I Still Have The Orginal VHS Tape

  • @PigeonToedShawdy i got 2--one was a promo, the other is normal.

  • AAAAAAAHH IM MELTING! ..... BOO! HIHIHIHAHAHA!

  • Gotta luuuuuv the Wizard of Oz-impression. Funny though how Kim's stupid enough trying to "help" him while a second or 2 ago he was trying to kill her...

  • this movie has too many great parts to count and this is but one of them.

  • I love Jack's face at 0:08.

  • I think I might go as him for halloween.so what if I'm a girl.I want green hair and be able to walk up to complete strangers say have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight and laugh in their faces.

  • @avatarfangirl11 HAHA.

  • You can see the wire.

  • @angeltosome im pretty sure your supposed to see the wire. batman doesnt just jump through the glass and glide like that, thats why they show him grabbing his belt when he does that leap in access chemicals, he relies on gadgets and tricks to give the effect hes "gliding".

  • i agree, this one beats the dark knight

  • Let's be honest here. This film is a masterpiece.

  • The laugh at the end was priceless. Too bad he didn't get to finish it.

  • OK, he just killed everyone in that aside from Vicki, has creeped the living daylights out of her right before he attempts to melt her face off. To defend herself, she throws water in his face, and then tries to reassure the Joker when he mimics the Wicked Witch? And people say that Lois is the dumb reporter for not knowing Clark and Superman are the same person...

Anyway, great scene. One of the best in the whole movie.

  • love the movie, but Kim Basinger is almost as bad an actress as Katie Holmes

  • @painlessissuicide

I doubt Sean Young would have been a better Vicki Vale. She shot one scene, but then fell off a horse and was injured. This meant the role of Vicki Vale was recast with Kim Basinger.

  • @McLarenMercedes actually, Keaton's then-girlfriend (Michelle Pfeiffer) was almost cast, but Keaton asked Burton to reconsider as he didn't want people to be distracted by their real-life relationship

  • @painlessissuicide I disagree she has more character than Katie Holmes for Batman movies..she was the 'white' to Batman's 'darkness'

  • @AbeVegaJr *Vicki* is a good character, but *Kim* is a bad actress

  • We are doing a stop motion animation film called Tim. The movie is a stop motion animation film that is dedicated to Tim Burton and has Sir Christopher Lee as the narrator. Search the directors name Brian Joseph Ochab to find the video.

  • Jack Nicholson's Joker scared the shit out of me when I was younger.

  • I like mark hamill as the joker.

  • With Nicolson and Ledger is the same as with Bale and Keaton. Keaton and Ledger are the best, but Nicolson and Bale are also great. EOT.

  • I always jump when he says boo. LOL

  • This scene of Batman breaking the glass is ICONIC, I mean there's no way you could fully appreciate it unless you were a kid in the 80's

  • @apologyisnothepolicy

I am a kid of the 80's/early 90's, born 81 and saw this 5 times in theaters when i was 8.

  • its so gangsta when batman breaks thru that glass

  • Aside from the constant comparison between Jack and Heath on the Joker, there is only one simple fact: BOTH of them played very respectfully and each of them did an impressive job portraying the character in different ways. Personally I love both of them as the Joker. And this scene makes me smile. :)

  • 6 people melted

  • who the fuck cares who was the better joker, both were awesome characters. jack was the funny one, and heath was the sick one.

  • @JoseJapalena More like Heath was the invincible, omnipresent, smart one,and Jack was the two you listed

I mean what did Heath really do that was sick?Sure he raped everyone minds but frankly Jack did that and killed almost all of Gotham twice, melted his mistresses face then threw her out the window to become single, impaled a mob boss with a feather [and you thought the pencil trick was original],and electric joybuzzed another boss.

Does it really get sicker than that?

  • This scene scared the heck outta me as a kid. Jack's Joker will always be awesome. I'm sick of people watching videos of this film or talking about this film without hearing or seeing a comment about Dark Knight and Heath's Joker. That was a great film, but we are not talking about that. This video is about Tim Burton's Batman and Jack's Joker. I love this movie!!!!

  • @IncredibleFulk1 I agree but I also hate the reversal of that which happens alot. I cant watch a Batman '89 video without seeing a slew of coments saying "Heath's Joker sux" and childish crap like that. I love The Dark Knight but I also like Batman 1989. Do mostly children use youtube? They annoy the rest of us.

  • That Batman through the glass bit is classic.

  • different directors; different jokers. they both did each version flawlessly.

  • this scene proves how Jack was better

  • He's the wicked basterd from the West :-)

  • first movie i saw as kid on vhs...this man just got under my skin ever since...no one can be joker but jack...

  • "I'm melting!!" hahaha, Jack Nicholsan is LEGEND!

  • Shut the hell up with this Heath vs Jack garbage. Everyone knows thats its all about hamill baby.

  • @IronManOfficialguy hamil is retiring right?

hes not even a live joker either

  • @AntiGDYB Who cares if hes live or not. And yes he has said he will not perform the joker again. Im thinking he would do it in a second if they offered him enough money though.

  • funny how you see the rope on batman when he breaks in at the end.lol

  • I don't think it's fair to compare Nicholson & Ledger's performances since they took different approaches to it.

  • I don't care what people say. both nicholson and and ledger are awsome.

  • actually, I thik the original, comic book Joker ON PAPER was the best? Y'know, since Jackie boy wouldnt have done this if not for the drawings of Bob Kane and Bill Finger? Lets give THEM some credit!!

  • They were both great, but you gotta love Jack in tis role, he's one of the best actors ever

  • Great scene! The problem with the Christopher Nolan Batman movies was that they took themselves too seriously for their own good.

  • @Beerlejuice

I agree.Anybody that tries to make a "serious" comicbook superhero movie doesn't really understand what makes those superheroes.

Btw, that scene in which people vote democratically whether or not to blow up another boat full of convicted criminals, when they both had limited time and only could survive if one blew up the other, is freakin' far from realistic in my book. In reality you'd be amazed to see what humans are willing to do when their own lives is at risk.5 seconds tops!

  • @McLarenMercedes There are many interpretations of Batman even in comic books themselves. When a film adaptation comes along every aspect of the comic book Batman and it's characters will just not be seen. Nolan's version is a more down to earth version I agree but you can't chose an exact copy over a director working to incorporate his vision. Nolan must work between integrity of his films and over the top antics and so far it's been pretty awesome if you ask me. I look forward to the next film

  • Face and chuckle at :30 = PRICELESS.

  • I bet the villains in all four movies are thinking "why are all the roofs made of glass!?"

  • boo..HEHEH!!

  • boo! ehhheee hehehe hahaha! perfect evil/mischievious "gotcha!" laugh

  • Jack Nicholson's Laugh in any movie always brings me back to him playing as The Joker.

  • BOOO ! He he he ha ha....

  • heath ledger has a wonderfull role, but jack really looks like the Joker!!

    i prefer jack

  • Now seeing this as a kid scared me, but as an adult it just looks funny.

So actual skin color is his face paint, which comes off with water revealing that his skin actually looks like face paint.

This had to be weird on the set, because Nicholson would have to be hit with water, then have make up applied, and then revealed that the water put on the make up.

  • personally i think they both did a great job as the joker. i think jack made a more cartoon version and heath's was more realistic. and what most people dont know is that heath ledger designed his makeup and got approval from christopher nolan for it, along with many improvs he came up with and he also came up with the tongue thing. i personally prefer heath's version. and this is just my opinion, but i think heath deserved all of the appraise he received, dead or alive.

  • @bladesofglory12 I agree both were very good and also both did very different interpretations of the Joker. Jack was more of a trickster but he could also be quite menacing. Heath's Joker was a downright murdering psychopath

  • @bladesofglory12 heath caused his own undoing if he did design the makeup..

i heard it was nolan who designed his makeup by a francis bacon clown mask

  • vicki vale is an idiot whyd she try to help him?

  • Heh! He goes all "wicked witch" on her before freaking her out with his bloody face! Classic scene! Not to mention that laugh he utters sounds pretty evil! Like a demon's laugh!

  • they were both great in their own ways, i love 'em both

  • I believe that Jack's Joker was funny ... but crazy

But Heath's Joker shows the sadistic and psychopath part , so I do not think you can compare the two because they are very different ... In my opinion I think both were pretty good

  • @x93Frost93x heath ledgers joker wasnt psychotic or sadistice he was just a anarachist /terroist

  • Out of all of the funny impresions I've seen of the Wicked Witch of the West's "melting" scene, this one is, to me, the best one. LOL!

  • i always thought it was funny how she just pats joker on the back as hes 'melting' lol

  • I love this movie. My favorite of all tme, The Dark Knight just isnt aas good as Batman!!!!! And this part in the movie was awesome!!!

  • @Kinnalkey yes completely agree ppl forget that this movie is a timeless cult piece. a work of art rightdown to the music the fact that it has two soundtracks and both are conisder to be great tells ya something... there isnt a comic movie to date that wasn't shaped as a result of this movie ...not one

  • @bulletproofKevlar what do you mean two soundtracks prince was the only one to do the complete soundtrack

  • @lilHippo ??? you didnt know? back then a movie would have the soundtrack to the popular music of the time but because dannyelfman did such a great job they released two.. the one wiht prince and other rock music... and the danny elfman score it was really unheard of and danny elfman didnt believe they would do it and well they did.

  • They are 2 totally different interpretations of the Joker, Heath the more dark joker and Jack did the more crazy funny version.

  • Someone, please send a link as to what happens next!!! D= So classic...

  • I like Jack's Joker better...He's much more comical in the way he embraces his insanity.

  • you took out the best part

  • I forgot what a terrible actress Kim Basinger was...

  • Classic Batman scene! : )

  • meh why agrue?

both where amazing at doing there job acting

  • Mark Hamill is a mixture of the two jokers. Nicholson is funnier than Ledger, but Ledger is crazier than Nicholson!! isn't it?

  • @0DwightMcCarthy0

couldnt agree more. the two jokers are diffrent. i wouldnt compare them cuz their "characters" are quite diffrent.

  • @0DwightMcCarthy0 No Nicholson is funnier and crazier, does it really get any crazier than this?Does killing off a city with acid gas and counterfeit money not sound crazy?

Ledger only blew up a hospital, police station, and attempted to blow up 2 boats which is not as crazy as the above?

Mark Hamill is a mixture for sure with a nice quasi British accent and out of control laugh

  • Mark Hamil Blows away both Jokers.

  • My fav joker laugh ever!!

  • Comment removed

  • i noticed that jacks joker killls wayyy more people than heaths..

  • i noticed that heaths joker killls wayyy more brutal than jacks..

  • idk about that..jack fried a guy alive..and shot acid in some bitches face his deaths were way more versatile as well as funnier too...Heath was great, but i still prefer jack...

  • Heath cut one guy's face, operated a phone INTO a punk's body, then detonated it etc. They were both good

  • Both Great i agree :)

  • This guy was funny as hell.

  • Vickie: "What do you want?"

Joker: "My face on the one dollar bill"

    Vickie: "You must be joking"

Joker: "Do i look like am joking"

    Vickie: "Well.......""

  • Jack is handsome as the Joker

    and

Heath looks smoking hot as the Joker

  • why does vicki think that the joker is melting she must believe someone who is crazy

  • the answer is simple... shes a dumb fuckin bitch lol

  • "you're insane!"

    "i thought i was a pices"

Lol that always makes me laugh

  • i dont care what people say jack was the best joker ever

  • I know!

"You wouldn't hit a guy wearing glasses now, would you?" :D

  • totally agree man joker supposed to be like that but heath was good too but still i like jack better

  • @haloplayer908 Jack is the greatest actor the world of motion pictures has ever known! I've seen him carry bad movies! Just look at "Mars Attacks!"

  • @haloplayer908 nah.

  • @haloplayer908 Thumbs all the way fucking up.

  • @haloplayer908 Definitely agree

  • mmm my god everyone compares ledger with nicholson... arent you tired??? =/

  • its like a scratched cd. very repetitive and annoying!

  • @hector8927 Screw that!! Nicholson and Ledger both make good Jokers.

  • @MegaLink08 Hell yeah!!!

  • @hector8927

Took the word's outa my mouth.

  • @hector8927 Yes because you can't do it.

  • legendary

  • Help me! Aah I'm melting! I'm melting! Boo! Jack was the best Joker!

  • Lets face it guys, Jack is THE JOKER!

  • BEST JOKER LIVE ACTION ACTOR EVAR

  • Nicholson's an asshole in this movie, but if he wasn't, I don't think the Joker would've been so badass in this one.

  • A villain's name should match their character. Two Face has two different faces and personalities. Poison Ivy has a poisonous kiss and deadly plants. The Joker dresses like a clown and makes a joke out of everything. Heath Ledger's Joker should have been called something else, like "The Trickster". His Joker was deranged and cunning, but wasn't very comical at all. Because of that, I think that Jack's portrayal of the Joker was more appropriate.

  • heath really did embody, but in more of a philosophical sense, he viewed morality and lawfulness as the funniest jokes in the world

  • there's such thing as dark humor.....which in crime & politics is more realistic

  • I'm melting!! I'm not an expert in american cinema or literature but isn't that supposed to be a reference to the wizard of oz?

  • yes

  • That was F****** awesome!!!

  • i really liked heath's version of the joker but nicholson really embodied the joker

  • that laugh he does after he says boo is the greatest laugh ever XD

  • NICHOLSON RULES !

  • Comment removed

  • Boo HAHAHAHA :) Love this film.

  • Comment removed

  • I am a pisces. I would say the reason why Jack Nicholson was so great among other reasons is because he was able to capture the whole dark sense of humor that the Joker had, because he's hilarious and scary at the same time.

  • Do pisces people have a lot of sense for humor? So the Joker embodies of how an evil pisces would look like?

  • BOO!

    HEEEHEHEHE!

He scared the shit out of her!

    LOL

  • OMG i thought he said "let's make out." O.o lol i luv it how she's like concerned for him....well i would be too.....oh puddin.....XD i luv you mistah j, as jack nickleson and heath ledger! R.I.P heath ledger.

  • i agree. Heath was brilliant, but Jack... He is the man

  • EPIC BOO!

  • I like how she's concerned all of a sudden xD

  • I borrowed this movie from my grandma and I never got to finish it, I still have it but I don't know how to connect my VCR player with the telivision.

  • You should of ended the scene where Batman and Vicki leave the museum. This scene and Batman entering and exiting the museum is my favorite.

  • does anybody have a link to this movie?

  • Jack is the Greatest! If the Magic make the Finals, I'll be at Game 3, and I'm dressing like Jack and telling people it's "AS GOOD AS IT GETS!"

  • Jack is great at playing crazy. And the badguy.

  • Dude, that's awesome how you cut out all the best parts of the movie into these short segments. Good job

  • Ah, I love it when Batman breaks through the glass.

Didn't see that in the TDK.

  • yeah, i love it when Batman breaks thru the glass too... =)

  • no, because this great scene doesn't fit in the TDK.

  • wtf? i only hear the sound effects?
