I don't get why so called smart American's can't see through rap music for what it really is. Look at media and music 40 years ago, pornography and violence weren't shown 1/100000th of what's in the media today. Then look at bands like ACDC and Ozzy, they promoted sex, drugs and rebelled against the older generation because thats what generations do. They take things that are deemed 'scary' by the older crowd and use them as tools to rebel and be cool within there generation.

there are many aspects of "white" culture that are very violent... i.e mafia movies, quentin tarantino movies, violents lyrics in rock songs (particularly many metal bands)... The opposition to these things is virtually non-exisent.... double standard? I think so....Nas's rebuttle in "Sly Fox" is interesting

metal is a genre on its own. Its not part of rock. And there has been critizism of metal music but the thing is that it is not as mainstream as rap and therefore less kids are listening to it and hence its less of a threat.

People on here saying that rappers are violent, do you ever wondering why "rappers" are violent? Some people sit in their priviledged seats and make their uneducated and apathetic opinions on rappers which many come from poverty. Crime ridden areas that you've never seen the likes of a Bill Oreilly. Very likely he and others with his philosophy dont care about this reality.
