I wonder. Can he copy and paste, or was each planet like constructing a toy horse? If there is a god, he must have been a very busy deity.
To say for sure this universe was created by one "god" doesn't make sense seeing that the religion is based off faith :/
Science is the reason you can even be on your computer arguing non-sense about "god" in the first place.

Totally with you there, not mysticism in my comment. Yes it occurred accidentally, and in a very hard to reproduce chain of events. But the crux of my comment is about the fact that it now performs reliably and predictably, therefore understandably. So I'd like to understand how it does what it does not. That technology splitting off of the pairs is, to me, something that should be understandable now. But I haven't ever seen it explained.

@timen1986 I discovered Mr Kurzweil many years ago and it changed my life. For the next couple of years most of my essays were about the singularity or at least used his evidence to back up my points. Ahh, exponential growth in exponential growth, gotta love it.
Regardless of if his theories are 100% accurate, he is doing a world of good by changing peoples perceptions and dispelling ignorance about the power of science and technology.... especially in regards to longevity. Stay healthy ppl!
I saw a cell division last night. I have awful vision, and I see all these little organisms that are living on my eyes whenever I stare at a small light from far away. I saw one blob sitting still, but it suddenly turned into two! Who thought you could see single cells with the naked eye?
Genes, and their "proper" expression is far more determinate in the "talent(s)" of an individual, than any other influence.
This is difficult for people without mental talent to accept, as they can not resolve the apparent contradiction with a capitalist dogma. When the authority tells them they can become anything/anyone, even that pinnacle of human progress a millionaire, they swallow it whole. We are not all created equal.
And the strange thing about cells dividing is that somtimes they can mess up and take an extra chromosome and the other cell is left with less, wich eather makes people who are mentally disabled that way or can even make people more athleticaly fit the way they are. As some might say my son/daughter has natural born talent for gamasitcs when really it's unatural. Just thought i'd throw that in. =) Btw nice vidio!
I'm not quite sure but I would guess that talent is not something that is determined by genetics.
In my opinion, talent is something that is influenced by one's environment (i.e. how someone is being raised over the first few years of their life)
I might be wrong, since I do not know everything about genetics. However, I would find it very surprising to find "talent genes" in any chromosome. Heh, but if there was one, it would be a very interesting discovery, haha!
You might be very right. Our brain grow on experience, trial and error. Most of our neurological structures are built by this method.
Neurological structures that perform good and does the task, are strengthened, while the structures that fail are weakened. That is basically how we grow on experience, and all our muscular control, sensory experience, and intelligence processors is always improving, until our brain gets old and tired.
But yeah, I believe that the phenomenon you were talking about is chromosomal crossover, and occurs during meiosis (a type of cell division that occurs while animal reproduction). This is an exchange in genetic material indeed, but does not lead to a different quantity in chromosomes.
Crossovers in chromosomes can lead to extreme disorders such as Down Syndrome, where the presence of an extra part of the 21st chromosome occurs.
shut you fucking idiot you know nothing of the work of science and i doubt you ever will and further more the barbaric people you speak of are in fact animal rights activists because they deny technology and and try to destroy it and I'm afraid to tell this but thats what both modern and old barbarians were and are.

There's no such thing as "powerful" scientists. Scientists have to answer to "powerful" people who fund them. That is if you think that non profit foundations are "powerful".

i think it's interesting that the process has redundencies.
i wonder why that is?
just in case the other fails somhow?
and if that is the case, and cell division could continue, wouldn't there be numerous cases where once the gene for one of the processes was damaged, it would pass on the gene for the other to it's sucessors.
then there would be a whole bunch that only used one process.
it seems that the use of both processes it required.
science is only good if it puts carbon credit tax money in my pocket. when it is no longer conveinient it will be discarded and ridiculed as archaic and primitive Al Gore
My point of view (as being a graduate student studying biology at a medical school) is that cells "know" what to do in order to split and when to split via many small yet complex protein-protein interactions that depend on external stimulating molecules (like hormones or growth factors) as well as internal proteins and molecules (like a protein family called "cyclin" which controls the cell cycle-hence the name). Check out "cell-cycle" on wikipedia.
I find it really comical that scientists look for answers while trying to be as logical as possible, and people still ignore logic purely to avoid the fear that comes with a shattered belief.
sigh.. broaden your scope on life people! Either blindly follow, or live with certainty.

In everyday language a theory means a hunch or speculation. Not so in science. In science, the word theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of an important feature of nature that is supported by many facts gathered over time"
Also the reason anything in the body does anything is bio-electrical magnetic force and chemical reactions. The cell in theory should use those proteins and fats to take the chromosomes to each new part and then once done the unevenness of the doubled cell makes the marginally smaller part negatively charge the fat while the other positive, leaving a neutral split forcing each other apart leaving no central platelet of cell wall between the new cells. 50 years? what have you been doing??
creationists = Christians, why is it always "god made the earth and all upon it" and not "it could have been one of the other stories"

How about YOU go burn in hell.
i think this video waas made to give people information, not to start on the fucking atheism and creationism crap like people do in any science video!
@Jerkix can't wait for creationists to make up some garbage that explains how you can't explain how you became aware of how you ARE ABLE to manufacture that very concept with static energy running through meaningless brain cells, and then having that information transform into signals that convey a message into your fingertips typed on You Tube, and thus into our collective grey-matter as well. May sound simple to...well..You, But not a creationist.:)
"God did it" is the most simplistic answer. That's about all the creationist assertion amounts to. No explanatory power, no applications, and most certainly no experimental evidence.
@Jerkix thats why its called faith. Evolutionists have only come up with theories and now they are actually back peddling on Darwinism as we speak. Willing to risk your eternal soul on science? Just think about it is all i ask. There are no do-overs after death.
Why thank you for highlighting that scientists deal with theories - ones that are backed by objective evidence and makes useful and testable predictions. Besides, you're in the same boat buddy - you have no idea whether being Christian (or Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu whatever) is going to save your soul. How do you know you've backed the right horse? Get back to me when you find out.
I must say I am not very impressed by this discussion. As a Darwinian myself I have found that most Darwinians are as dogmatic and willfully ignorant as the creationists when it comes to discussions on Human Biodiversity largely because they have fully internalised what can only be desribed as religious views on race. The idea that there exists zero group differences between the races in terms of cognition, behaviour etc. is also biologically preposterous, yet many "Darwinians" believe it.
@Miggins88 WTF is a Darwinian? Would you call yourself a Newtonian, a Galileitian, or an Einsteinian? I wouldn't doubt that most 'Darwinians' are just as dogmatic or willfully ignorant as creationists as they are a non-existent group of people.
Congrats for branding yourself with a ridiculous creationist label.
@OldaurGold Why? That's a bit like saying 'keep science out of astronomy" or "keep science out of medical treatment" Why should we suspend scientific enquiry on the issue of race?
@zestyguy87 Your faith is misplaced in religion. Your god is an interpretation of the nature of the universe, omnipresence/potence is because "God" is the universe (&all within) which is all connected & communicates with itself instantaneously regardless of distance.
All experiential proof of your god is proof of the nature of the universe, not your religions interpretation of the experience.
Discover Quantum Touch or Reiki to prove this to yourself. No religious dogma, just resonance.
@RhetoricalSyndicate We don't need your atrocious secular view. This universe wasn't created by one God; many Gods i think had to get together and exchange ideas with each other on how to create the universe. Jesus commnicated with Buddha, Shiva,
@OldaurGold wtf? my views secular? Of course there is no one god, but that's not to say there are/were many gods. The notion of God is a misunderstanding of how powerful consciousness is. We all share consciousness and the only thing that comes close to any mans notion of God is universal consciousness. The awareness of consciousness gives us all the power to be Gods in our own perceived realities.
If you're having so much trouble understanding me, ask a question instead of presuming ignorance.
@RhetoricalSyndicate you idiot, there had to be many Gods for the creation of this universe. You can't just consider only Jesus because there are other Gods you have to consider. Stop giving people gibberish talk about our state of mind, you secular fuck
@OldaurGold Jesus wtf? I consider no god that you have ever heard of, No god that man has ever created or identified through whatever process. I believe Consciousness created the universe, consciousness not identifiable as a God, at least in the way which you seem to perceive god. My beliefs and understandings of reality go far deeper than you've ever dreamed of kid, both on personal interest and professional levels. It's obvious through your labels that you're concept of god is limited
@OldaurGold I'm not a dogmatic scientist or bound by any religion, my spiritual life is the most important thing to me, day by day. I don't live in the same world as most people do. I perceive my surroundings as the illusions that they are. I live and experience my connection to the universe in ways that bring joy and happiness flooding into my life. If you're still stuck in identifying with gods then you have not discovered the potential of consciousness and realized the power of perception.
@OldaurGold I DO NOT talk about mind when i talk about Consciousness. It is apparent to me and many others that consciousness is separate from the physical experience, and it is this and related insights that give us the power to live these lives far beyond the socially contrived bullshit that is being consumed all around us. Unless you're currently devoting your time to studying every aspect of science and also of spirituality and consciousness (alternate psychologies and altered states)...
@OldaurGold Then i highly doubt you will ever come close to perceiving a reality as beautiful and complex as i do. It's one thing to completely misinterpretation what someone has written , and then insult them based on your misinterpretation... But to argue with such pathetic simplistic points that don't relate to what i said in the first place is just self glorified ignorance.
@OldaurGold Go devote your life to constant education through a vast array of fields in both personal and professional environments, as i have done, and experience the power of conscious awareness, gain some perspective on religion through history, gain some appreciation for ancient cultures and knowledge and learn the truths that are being kept from you... Then come and talk to me, because it's become quite apparent that you're not capable of engaging in a meaningful conversation with me.
And somewhere, sometime, some intelligent design preacher is going to argue "the two sides of the (evo vs. ID) controversy should collaborate - just like these guys!"
Have you ever looked into the "actual pro ID" arguments ? They appear to rely mostly if not entirely on "disproving evolution" when they try to show that they're right, most if not all of the "ID" arguments are based on "well evolution can't explain this"-esque arguments that rely purely on the weird hope that there's errors or mistakes in evolution.
My comment was mostly refering to the fact that most if not their entire argument appears to be "evolution is wrong, so we're right"
Alright, for a moment I thought that by bringing up "teach both sides" you went against my statement that their side is purely based on the speculative idea of evolution being false; considering my original comment pointed out that
"combining ID & evolution" as actual theories in the way these two theories appeared to both be correct was impossible, due to ID being entirely based on the premise of evolution being false.
[and a ID/evo hybrid would be a paradox, not theistic evolution*]
I'm reading Kant right now, and he's pretty much convinced me that questions like the immortality of the soul, questions about free will and fate, and the existence of god don't have a proper place in metaphysics. If don't doesn't belong in metaphysics i'm pretty sure he doesn't belong in empirical science. We have to limit ourselves to what we can measure and observe, which god is way beyond both, in that way ID undermines the scientific process...
and a scientific theory is never established by disproving alternate theory, but by establishing itself as a superior theory on its own merit.
You are right about the fact that the entire premise of ID is based on the flawed argument: "well evolution can't explain this now", while not even a SINGLE so called ID "scientist" can come up with published evidence that supports ID itself. Thus, ID can't even be considered a scientific theory to begin with.
Cells aren't real! They're just a conspiracy made up by the goverment to make you pay more tax!
That being said, I like the way this destroys a supposed false dichotomy in this "either or" situation; them both appearing to be right just means everyone can celebrate!

Later for fun the guy got his physics friend to bring his radiation detector whatever it's called and his bathroom was radio active. They removed and safely disposed of floor and fixtures. The interviewer was shocked! the guy said when you get treated they send you home right away cause you're HOT for a few hours!!sweat urine-and they don't want you in hospital, crazy!
I did hear this, that part is true.if what he said is true I do not know, he also said you can't worry about it, or radon or radiation from rock counter tops, or asbestos in popcorn ceilings, not claiming anything, just recounting what i heard. Sorry.

That is far more mysterious to me than the division itself.

It's not about learning or not. It's all about thermodynamics and spontaneous reactions.
Each atom decays thus mollecules decay. When the decay reaches a certain point, the reaction occurs.
That reaction leads to an increase of energy which leads to the next reaction and so far.
It's like the Mythochondria Respiratory Chain.. Take a look at that and you'll understand my point ;)

Miggins88 1 year ago
@Miggins88 WTF is a Darwinian? Would you call yourself a Newtonian, a Galileitian, or an Einsteinian? I wouldn't doubt that most 'Darwinians' are just as dogmatic or willfully ignorant as creationists as they are a non-existent group of people.
Congrats for branding yourself with a ridiculous creationist label.
Pokarot 11 months ago
@Miggins88 I think you should just leave science out of race ok. Keep darwin out of social aspects of humans.
OldaurGold 10 months ago
@OldaurGold Why? That's a bit like saying 'keep science out of astronomy" or "keep science out of medical treatment" Why should we suspend scientific enquiry on the issue of race?
Miggins88 10 months ago
@Miggins88 Just keep science in its place. Race is a social thing so stop attacking our race you hypocrites

RhetoricalSyndicate 1 year ago
@RhetoricalSyndicate We don't need your atrocious secular view. This universe wasn't created by one God; many Gods i think had to get together and exchange ideas with each other on how to create the universe. Jesus commnicated with Buddha, Shiva,
OldaurGold 10 months ago
@OldaurGold wtf? my views secular? Of course there is no one god, but that's not to say there are/were many gods. The notion of God is a misunderstanding of how powerful consciousness is. We all share consciousness and the only thing that comes close to any mans notion of God is universal consciousness. The awareness of consciousness gives us all the power to be Gods in our own perceived realities.
If you're having so much trouble understanding me, ask a question instead of presuming ignorance.
RhetoricalSyndicate 10 months ago
@RhetoricalSyndicate you idiot, there had to be many Gods for the creation of this universe. You can't just consider only Jesus because there are other Gods you have to consider. Stop giving people gibberish talk about our state of mind, you secular fuck
OldaurGold 10 months ago
@OldaurGold Jesus wtf? I consider no god that you have ever heard of, No god that man has ever created or identified through whatever process. I believe Consciousness created the universe, consciousness not identifiable as a God, at least in the way which you seem to perceive god. My beliefs and understandings of reality go far deeper than you've ever dreamed of kid, both on personal interest and professional levels. It's obvious through your labels that you're concept of god is limited
RhetoricalSyndicate 10 months ago
@OldaurGold I'm not a dogmatic scientist or bound by any religion, my spiritual life is the most important thing to me, day by day. I don't live in the same world as most people do. I perceive my surroundings as the illusions that they are. I live and experience my connection to the universe in ways that bring joy and happiness flooding into my life. If you're still stuck in identifying with gods then you have not discovered the potential of consciousness and realized the power of perception.
RhetoricalSyndicate 10 months ago
@OldaurGold I DO NOT talk about mind when i talk about Consciousness. It is apparent to me and many others that consciousness is separate from the physical experience, and it is this and related insights that give us the power to live these lives far beyond the socially contrived bullshit that is being consumed all around us. Unless you're currently devoting your time to studying every aspect of science and also of spirituality and consciousness (alternate psychologies and altered states)...
RhetoricalSyndicate 10 months ago
@OldaurGold Then i highly doubt you will ever come close to perceiving a reality as beautiful and complex as i do. It's one thing to completely misinterpretation what someone has written , and then insult them based on your misinterpretation... But to argue with such pathetic simplistic points that don't relate to what i said in the first place is just self glorified ignorance.
RhetoricalSyndicate 10 months ago
@OldaurGold Go devote your life to constant education through a vast array of fields in both personal and professional environments, as i have done, and experience the power of conscious awareness, gain some perspective on religion through history, gain some appreciation for ancient cultures and knowledge and learn the truths that are being kept from you... Then come and talk to me, because it's become quite apparent that you're not capable of engaging in a meaningful conversation with me.

And somewhere, sometime, some intelligent design preacher is going to argue "the two sides of the (evo vs. ID) controversy should collaborate - just like these guys!"
clownschuhe 3 years ago 2
I doubt that'd work.
"Our theory is that evolution works and at the same time doesn't work."
I think you forgot how ID sets itself up as a false dichotomy and thinks it'll be true if evolution is disproven.
NShimaru 3 years ago
NShimaru
the creationist argument is why not teach "both sides". They believe ID is a legitimate scientific theory.
if a creationist were reasonable, he wouldn't be a creationist.
SuperAtheist 3 years ago 2
Have you ever looked into the "actual pro ID" arguments ? They appear to rely mostly if not entirely on "disproving evolution" when they try to show that they're right, most if not all of the "ID" arguments are based on "well evolution can't explain this"-esque arguments that rely purely on the weird hope that there's errors or mistakes in evolution.
My comment was mostly refering to the fact that most if not their entire argument appears to be "evolution is wrong, so we're right"
NShimaru 3 years ago 2
NShimaru
yes, you're correct!
I was just pointing out that creationist believe ID is a legitimate scientific theory even though it's religion.
SuperAtheist 3 years ago
Alright, for a moment I thought that by bringing up "teach both sides" you went against my statement that their side is purely based on the speculative idea of evolution being false; considering my original comment pointed out that
"combining ID & evolution" as actual theories in the way these two theories appeared to both be correct was impossible, due to ID being entirely based on the premise of evolution being false.
[and a ID/evo hybrid would be a paradox, not theistic evolution*]
NShimaru 3 years ago
I'm reading Kant right now, and he's pretty much convinced me that questions like the immortality of the soul, questions about free will and fate, and the existence of god don't have a proper place in metaphysics. If don't doesn't belong in metaphysics i'm pretty sure he doesn't belong in empirical science. We have to limit ourselves to what we can measure and observe, which god is way beyond both, in that way ID undermines the scientific process...
lorezapocalypse 3 years ago
and a scientific theory is never established by disproving alternate theory, but by establishing itself as a superior theory on its own merit.
You are right about the fact that the entire premise of ID is based on the flawed argument: "well evolution can't explain this now", while not even a SINGLE so called ID "scientist" can come up with published evidence that supports ID itself. Thus, ID can't even be considered a scientific theory to begin with.

I was thinking the same thing.

They already have. It's called, "Evolution is correct, but God made evolution". It works well with other sciences too, like geology.

Jesus, I heard a guy who does enviromental housing stuff, his friend was on chemo and just got med. came and used the guys toilet.
