Great video. You guys had a blast. I used to bow fish when I was in grad school. I kept the Asian student population well stocked in fish. For my efforts, my friends fed me lots of fish. Carp were very good to eat, but the Gar was the best of all. Watching your video makes me want to start doing this again.

OMG!!! I would not have enough time to sit here and put so many ignorant people in check. Keep doing what you are doing man!! These people who have never bowfished and don;t have the first clue about the FACTS of bowfishing aren't even worth the time it takes to type back and explain why they are so WRONG! Not really a dislike or a like, but how is this fishing? It's too easy, shooting fish in a barrel is more the term. I'm a game fisherman myself, but what about catch and release? If ya shoot a fish and it turns out ya don't want that fish, did ya kill it for nothing. Give me a rod and reel any day.

you can't shoot a fish you can't see. if he don't look like you want him, don't shoot.

consequently, if you don't see any fish you won't have a chance to get any. surely, as a fisherman, you understand that most non-rough fish that are worth having are good at hiding.

all that said, i'll take a rod and reel over my slingshot most days.

I am on fire to get going with this. Was going down the route of getting a kingfisher psi bow until I saw danger Dave and his side kick. I noticed Dave had a more standard reel for bow fishing but if the 808 works that is how I will go. Do you use spider wire or some sort of braided line? Do you practice in the yard with the fiberglass arrows? I will purchase the 40 lb rubber once developed. You guys are awesome. Thanks

@rustyh63 I am a Cheif AJ prostaffer, Chief has recently came out with a 'Quick Bow' with 40 pound tubes. I have had my slingshot for 3 days and i shot 1 sheep head with it and the arrow went right through it and sunk to the bottom. I do not have a quick bow, i use the HFX and it gets the job done, but if you want the power, the Quick Bow will kill every living fish you shoot at.

@rustyh63 You can purchase ready-made fishing slingshots at chiefaj.com. I used a crosman marksman. make a shoot through arrow rest out of a solid nylon cutting board shape it and attach it to the yolks with some zip ties. the loop at the bottom of the handle on the Marksman will hod a zebco 808 reel with no mods. Get some black bands for mor power, the stock bands dont have what you need. In about 30 minutes you are ready to go. chief Aj is coming out with a slingshot that has a 40lb pull

@rustyh63 the 40lb slingshot needs to be shot with a release. theis will be good for large gar and deep shots. I am looking forward to this one because the weak pull of the others can get frustrating. standard slingshots are fine for shallow water and soft bodied fish. I would never go after gator gar with them. Good luck, let me know if I can help anymore.

One, all I did was poke fun at how far from a sport this is. It's comparable to catching aphids. Sure, they are destructive and a waste of space, but really? How is this not ok to make fun of? Secondly - when someone pokes fun at something this dumb, you really need to pretend to know more than them...about carp? This is the lake I fish, and there is absolutely no carp problem, no eagle problem, no problem keeping there from being a succesful fishing environment for all species.

Great job getting rid of the pests... Some ppl dont have a clue as to what it takes to keep our lakes free from the garbage fish out there. They make the lakes uninhabitable for the natural fish that were there to begin with... These carp where brought in....

@itosu1 "Natural fish for lakes"? Really? Show me a natural lake in the state of Texas besides Caddo... All fish in your man made lakes have no lake fish in them besides the large mouth bass. All others are infact riverine. If our rivers were not dammed up and destroyed in the first place, the invasive fish would not survive. They can only compete with the native fish after you dam a river up and destroy it like this. WAKE UP!

There are definitely problems with anything we as ppl do to change an environment. We are responsible to keep it balanced if we mess with it.

How do you know the fish were not eaten? All I had to do is go down to Tennessee drive in McKinney and these fish were gone in 5 minutes. Not to mention the buffalo I smoked for myself. I eat every gator gar...best fish I have ever had. Carp are a menice, they eat the eggs of bass, crappie, sand bass, stripers, you name it. The get in the shallows and stir up the water and turn beautiful lakes into mud holes. Even if these fish don't get eaten it is perfectly justified to eliminate them.

Just like hogs they are classified at nuisance level and you are encouraged to kill them on sight.
