Even this video just freaked me out. I was playing Dead Space 2 in the dark with headphones (already bad enough) when I realised I had to go back onto the ishimura. I was so freaked out I literally took ages to go round any single corner or open doors, and in the end just had to turn it off from being too petrified & immersed.
Truly terrifying, and executed on a level I've never before seen in videogaming. This deserves every award going.
im still intrigued, they must have needed alot of workers to clean it up , but it wasnt just cleaning up trash , it was cleaning up pieces of decomposed bodies pools of coagulated blood , gruesome necro corpses , dismembered human corpses the strange symbols everywere the freaking blood ! the workers must have been like whattafuck!! ? happened here , how did they keep em from saying anything , causethey said it was a terrorist attack or something
Going back to the medical deck scared the crap out of me! That was the scariest deck in the first game for sure! Going back the second time, everything darker, Kendra telling you "someone doesn't want you on this deck" and of course the meeting with the hunter. It was cool to go back tho. Anyone reading this reply saying what which deck in ds1 was the scariest? which was your favorite?
I think seeing somone with a suit like issac walking down dark halls would seem pretty freaky. also, what aobut the ppl who had to patch everything up? had to be freaky for them too.
@puoduh your english was fine no worry as long as its understanable :) Into the topic, ishimura was as scary as hell when it had already sent to the city to fix (im kindda forgotten about the city name or something) when you happen to enter it again whereby you can see the wall was covered up by a new layer and etc...Thats the most horrific and intense part when you have to go through it again to seek for something zzz...
@BustedKeyboard Well think about what happend in dead space one.
Now think about EVERY MONSTER there turning into goo all over the floor. now think you are a cleaner in a dark ship cleaning goo and blood when hearing voices all over the place.
Ok so heres what happened: After the impact with the portion of Aegis 7 on Aegis 7 itself, the Ishimura was blown away from the blast and was left to aimlessly drift within the Aegis system. It was later found by a bunch of space pirates called the magpies. Then EarthGov battled them and recovered the ship and brought it to the sprawl to clean it and fix it. Because of their telepathic ties to the marker, the necromorphs onboard disolved when the marker was destroyed in the impact on Aegis 7.
When I went back on the ship, I expected a bunch of scripted flashbacks and tons of necromorphs... It was even worse when I saw that there was nothing but dead silence and my own memory of the previous game. I remember starring at the vent on the ceiling of the first room where you see the slasher jump out and eviscerate one of your team members.
You know its a great horror game when the most unnerving part of the game is when you simply stare at the silent remains of previous events...
the ishimura in ds2 was definently the scariest part...... and the worst part was when your going to the bridge and ellie says good thing your not going in the medical deck necros are flooding in there and then it says "unknown obstacle in the way, stopping at medical deck" i was just like "................youve got to be fucking kidding."
@ventor11225 Indeed, at Dead Space 1, I always was scared. The atmospehere of Dead Space 1 was just...Insane, Dead Space 2 wasn't THAT scary as Dead Space 1...Or maybe it was because I alredy became Dead Space veteran and just kind of knew what I'm fighting against but the Ishimura...Just freaked the shit out of me, when you walk alone the dark corridors and Nicole is whispering in your ear, shit like "All the tape on the ground...We both know how many bodies and blood are burried under them..."
how did you get the reticule in ds2 like the way it is in ds1? you know the light the comes out when ever you aim? mine is just in the center of the screen =S
today at 00:03 am or something like that i have finished dead space 2 ,but before when i saw the ishimura something was so fucking scary that i went to the toilett ,it was a grafitty on the wall like in dead space 1 that said : Cut off the limbs.'The Experience to go again to the ishimura war amazing and creepy...
I personally loved the Ishimura in Dead Space 2. It had a more "Dead" feel to it. In Dead Space (One), you can hear the annoying Computer blabbing in the background about Ship systems and you'll often encounter a dying Survivor (Head Banging Man, Man behind Door). The Ishimura in Dead Space 2 was empty, and dark, dreary. It was exciting to explore once more, but the problem I had was it was barely explorable. Also I'd liked to have revisited some more Decks (Mining and Crew Deck, perhaps?)
So just to be claer the outbrake at the sprawl happened when sprawl team put usg ishimura unboard to the sprawl and all the nechros just came out of the ship and the shit started 3 years later? Wow just wow! I Im wery impressed that EA and visceral put ishimura back and they wanted to go all the dead space gamers to rember the ishimura and rember how scary the ishimura was 3 years ago! :)
The computer that shows the damage done to the ship didnt pop up a 3d schematic to where everyone in the next room could see. The decontamination chamber, you'll notice that in the first one it only goes off only once, in the second one it goes off twice. And the hallway you go into after you get the plasma cutter is alittle bit shorter than in the first one. Also the large hallway heading to the tram replacing room is made alittle longer to the door to the room
@GageLloyd16 Obviously they fixed up the ship a little bit. It just seems smaller in some of the hallways because of the ladders & supplies lying around. The decontamination room? Maybe it has precautions to go off more than once or Sprawl security fucked around with the ships systems a bit.
great video , i reckon this is not the last we will see of the ishimura but only next time there be no clean up and you wont be able to reconise anything . i think in dead 4 0r 5 issac will become infected and will retreat back to the heart of the ishimura where we have to find and kill him (playing as another character)
im pretty certain dead space 3 maybe at the end issac will become infected and transform into something
I just got to the Ishimura in DS2. It's just fucking WOW! It's amazing how they took the Ishimura, and just made it 20 times scarier and intimidating. The atmosphere is just choking, the delapadated ship, the creeking sounds all around the ship, everything covered up and dismantled. It's a feeling of true isolation that few video games ever accomplish completely. In Dead Space, you are alone.
was very amazing to return to the ishimura at DS2, you know. Entering all the rooms that in DS1 you got to fight like hell, and in 2 is all calm. Until you go to engineering deck xdd, then the party starts. But before is very very scary and amazing.
The best moment is in the decontamination room, before the centrifugue, that in DS1 starts filling out of necromorphs and in 2 nobody come, well, when you return then shit happens xdd
@wallox2 I loved how they did that clean-up thing across the Ishimura ;-) How they tried to hide all the blood and terror that happened there three years ago ;-). Especially i like the Medical dec ;DD FUCKING CREEPY! :D
@XYLagGaming In one of the audio or text logs, a scientist mentions that all they found on the ishimura was some sort of gelatinous goo made of human DNA. Basically, when the marker was destroyed, all the necromorphs just desintegrated... until another one was built.
For the fan of the first game, going back in the Ishimura in DS 2 is damn scary! You can feel the tension growing as you walk in the hallways for the second time seemingly all alone...
"at least you won't have to go through the medical bay" :D YAY!!! "Obstruction ahead" "Welcome to the medical bay" FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
@MrHentaination That's bullshit and you know it. Dead Space has cheap scares. Silent Hill has feeling to it. it can scare you not by jumping out at you but just you being there. There's atmosphere to it. And it has more credit because its a better game. Dead Space only scares people because of the pop ups. In Silent Hill you are frightened of the music put into it.You can explore the town a little bit but in Dead Space you have no freedom . I bet you never even played Silent Hill 1 before
@TheButcher123100 You've never played Dead Space. I can tell just by those last few sentences. In Dead Space you can roam around the Ishimura & in 2, The Sprawl. Not like a sandbox free roam, but you still have big areas to explore. By the way Dead Space isn't just pop up scares. The Hunter from Dead Space 1 has that "scary by just being there" feeling you typed. I haven't played Silent Hill but at least I didn't make false accusations about it's scares.
@MrHentaination I have Dead Space 1. I played and beat it. You can barely explore the Ishimura. you have to follow a blue line to get to somewhere. And if you try to explore there are mostly locked doors around. And why hate Silent Hill when you never fucking played it before? Never judge a book by its cover. You should at least try it out or look up a walkthrough of it. It may be boring the first few minutes but keep watching it. It gets really scary.
@TheButcher123100 Yea, I said not like a sandbox free roam. You can still explore areas that are pretty big, not "barely explore". Most doors that are locked, you just need Power Nodes to unlock them. It's actually a pretty free game.

I have played through DS1 and 2 alot of times. And everytime i go to the ISHIMURA in DS2 It brings this very depressed but scary feeling.
In Dead space 1 its the main location. throughout the whole game. most lights in the ship are on. It feels very active.
In Dead Space 2 its only used for one chapter but its very empty and silent :'(. No lights all darkness.
Definiatly the best part about DS2 :D.
