  • Show the whole race can't you? It's too bad Landseer broke down but Rock of Gibraltar had to avoid him to keep his feet and that was significant to his trip.

  • rock of gibraltar was the best horse there. mick kinane fucked up

  • Does anyone remember Domedriver anymore? I don't think so really -- he ran a ding-dong of a race. Congrats to him. He is a forgotten hero.

  • Given a decent ride, Rock Of Gibraltar would have decimated this field...as it turned out, Mick Kinane gave him a shocking ride but still finished a length off in second after running on from plum last!...Also worthy of note was the awful injury sustained by Landseer as they turned into the straight....You cant beat the Breeders Cup meeting!

  • kinane should have been shot for this ride......this particular ride lost him his job with ballydoyle,period.....

  • It is kind of late now (8 years) but I'd like to thank the connections of Dome Driver for making 2002 my best year ever at the breeders cup. I had two pick 3's with DD in them. One where he was on the end and one with him in the middle.

Out of respect for Landseer I didn't cash out until a few days later.

To those making excuses for jockeys and whatever. Look at who was running just a length or so behind The Rock over in England. Dome Driver was simply overlooked in the betting.

  • Kinane did not drop his reigns on Giants Causeway versus Tiznow. Tiznow just simply outgamed him when the real running began. They could have gone around that track a 2nd time and Giants Causeway was still not gonna get by Tiznow.

  • @bluetiege

Giants causeway was also wider than Tiznow at every point in the race. Ride and trip costed him.

  • @saveus228 Ride and trip didn't cost him...the fact that he got outfought by a better horse did.

  • @SouthlandKing Kinane got chewed out by Aidan O'Brien for getting his whip stuck among the reins. You can see him give Giant's Causeway a few cracks on the turn, and then not use the whip again until the final strides. Tiznow is a great horse but Giant's Causeway unlucky in that race.

  • @SouthlandKing Simply untrue

  • @SouthlandKing

No he didn't. Chris McCarron is simply a better jockey than Kinane.

  • @bluetiege Yes he most definitely did drop his reigns on Giants Causeway and it most definitely cost him the race.

  • that was one of two shocking rides in breeders cup races by kinane the rock should have won easily and giants causeway when he lost his reigns for a few strides in the last 100 yards against tiznow

  • love to shout ,here comes the rock , hahaha check out the 91 breeders cup arazi

  • bad draw no chance. the greatest miler. stats for that draw prove it

  • RIP Landseer

    x

  • Mr Kinane's worst moment in the saddle....the best horse in the race by a country mile and he rode it like he could win from wherever. Badly misjudged! He was the best miler we have seen in a very long time.

  • @torontoderek i personaly wouldnt blame kinane ROG missed the break meaning he was stuck at the back which wasnt realy kinanes fault, if kinane tried to come through he would have had to go round giving up too much ground on the turns, i think everything went wrong that day and kinane still managed to get 2nd, they were just unlucky IMO, i personaly wouldnt blame kinane who didnt do alot wrong it was the horse missing the break and being stuck at the back that cost the race

  • o brien has had so many seconds at the breeders cup it is amazing. he hasnt won a bc race in 6 years.

  • I lost alot of money that night but cant blame Mick Kinane it is very rare he makes mistakes but draw and being hamperered by Landseer did not help. What the hell was Ballydoyle thinking replacing him with that Clown Jaimie Spencer though? Kinane is and always has been one of the best.....

  • missed break. last all the way round, hampered by landseer costing 2 lengths? has to come wide past everything. still comes 2nd. what a horse.

  • Landseer had a huge chance i cant believe hes gone he would of had a chance

    or even won

if the rock was closer up he might of won

  • awful misjudged ride

  • It wasn't a misjudge ride. He had a terrible draw and got terribly unlucky..they thought that mite happen and hoped that the pace of the rock would put them over the line...few strides short of a perfect ride.

  • david i can respect what your saying but your talking crap dude, the rock was poorly position landseer to an extent did not help him but its a short straight he should of had him handy on the bend, i personally feel that he was at least 3 lengths better than these and he still got beat so you have to put the error on the jockey no one else

  • Well i don't think it's crap.. I think he got too much crap for it. There's only 1 jockey who would of won that race with the rock.

  • god bless landseer wud of din good at stud!

  • wtf was kinane doing here lol

  • Sorry about that,i did'nt realise that that part of the race was missing,i'm sure you will find it on another.

  • Rock of Gibraltar was EXTREMELY unlucky, when Landseer broke down,it was right in the Rocks path as he was making his move, and actually collided with him, watch the race!

  • the best horse in this race was the rock by a country mile. only a moderate mick kinane ride cost this horse of glory here.

  • Wrong..Kinane got a horrible draw and he could improve from that. It was just unlucky. You are 100% correct about the best horse... the speed of that horse was amazing.

  • fair enough. the draw did not help. either way the rock should have won

  • Your dead right. Rock was just unlucky... Different class to the rest and just a pity he didnt win.

  • he is one the best flat horses ive ever seen. had a greeat turn of foot and oozed class

  • Landseer probably would have won if he had not broke down he was in the perfect striking position for a horse of his running style

  • how come in like all of the breeders cup mile 2002 races one part is cut out?

  • Landseer unfortunately broke down 3 out. Out of respect the broadcassters dont show replays of it. Same thing happened in Sir Percy's derby, when Horatio Nelson broke a leg.

  • so you mean he broke three legs or what

  • He means, that Landseer was three wide into the turn.

  • no, he means three furlongs from the finish.

  • actually he means landseer broke a leg 3 furlongs from home

  • thats how mickey joe lost the ballydoyle retainer. great jockey.

got that one wrong bigtime. " terrible ride."
