One of Sea Shepherd’s biggest financial supporters is Ann Johnston. Johnston's husband, Florida land developer Mr.Pritam Singh (AKA - Paul LaBombard) was banned from banking for life in 1995, ordered to pay $1.2 million dollars by federal bank regulators for his financing activities on a Key West business, has been investigated by the FBI for his questionable business practices. A lawsuit filed against Singh alleged almost 20 years of criminal activity -- including racketeering and fraud.
Both Singh and his wife are very closely connected with both the Sea Shepherd Society and the Watson family and have not only shown great financial generosity to the Sea Shepherd Society, Mr. Singh has also been listed as a member of the financial and management advisory board for the Society, despite his less than spotless financial history.
Ann Johnston made donations to Sea Shepherd. One gift consisted of a company called "Northern Development Associates", a for-profit business with holdings in Alaska. IRS documents for "Northern Development Associates" show losses of nearly $500,000 between 2000 and 2002. All the while, the non-profit, donation run, Sea Shepherd Society made nearly a million dollars in loans to its wholly-owned affiliate, the for-profit "Northern Development Associates"
@xXcHiPzAhOyXx Greenpeace are stubborn and arrogant believing they have the right to infringe on innocent people's liberties with hostile actions such as throwing acid on the decks of the japanese fishing vessels. Japanese fishermen didnt kidnap greenpeace, or anyone else, they detained aggressors who forcefully boarded their ship. Kidnap would mean the Japanese had boarded the environmentalists ship using physical violence to take then to a destination against their will
wait how are the crew members of the Sea Shepard not arrested the second they dock at a port for bashing into other boats? oh right, ''international waters'' and whatnot, but seriously, they are pirates, they are waving a pirate flag and everything.
Can someone please tell me why greenpeace have chosen to ignore the whaling activities of Iceland and Norway? It must be ok for them to kill whales because I don't see greenpeace attacking their ships. Why are greenpeace focused on attacking Japanese only. Hmmm. Seems flawed to me. Why only the Japanese?? Ha greenpeace?
@Natmossbim123 iceland hasn't whaled in 17 years, Sea Shepherd took out half thier fleet and thier proccessing plant, and they do go after Norway, we just don't see it on T.V.
@Ajr5691...You don't know WTF you are talking about. Iceland still whales. They have killed HUNDREDS of Fin whales in the last few years, in addition to other species of whales. Fin whales are terribly endangered. Japan has killed 14 Fin whales in the last 25 years. Iceland killed 150 Fin whales in 2009 alone. But here is the best part...Both Iceland AND Japan are issued permits to whale!!! They have permission from the International Whaling Commission!!! IT'S LEGAL !!!!
@Natmossbim123 because japanease are stuborn and have held green peace people hostage countless times plus they kill whales in australian water which really pisses me off. so you sir are a complete dick head!
there is reseacher in the Saint-Laurent's river studying whales since a very long time and they never needed to kill them. Japanese whalers get what they diserve and I beleive that Sea shepherd are doing an amasing job.
It is never you. The different country has different custom and food. Your important thing is not important in a foreign country. An important thing for a foreign country,is sometimes unnecessary to you. It is important to understand and accept those differences. It is only foolish racial discrimination that it is not made. You should understand that a mutual sense of values is different. You should not blame others.
@miratesus when will they stop on hunting them after they all gone???are a japanese?will your a bullshit one....we should love nature at this time..may you will be dead...tomorrow or the next day or may you will be eaten by a whale....
why is everyone so racist to the japanese? its always been part of their culture. I defiantly don't agree with the frequency of whale attacks that exist to date, and i believe something must be done. But not by those whose intent is clearly to antagonise rather than fix the problem at hand.
@Miratesus well what is crime? does it have to be written as a law to be considered as crime if you break the law? I don't think so. Just because a species is about to extinct people go crazy about it!? What about the other animals and nature in general, don't care till they will be on the red list!? "failure of mankind" in deed and the solution as well. Once the system fails and we die out the nature can start all over again. I see it as evolution, at last we are part of the nature as well!
@Miratesus Excuse? it is not an excuse, simply a fact. The IWC intentionally included the clause that allowed for research. If you dont like the rules complain to the IWC.
@Miratesus The IWC also states that any left over meat from research is allowed to be sold for human consumption.
I am defending the ideal that is human diversity. I do not believe there is any thing wrong with eating animals, i know the Hindu people choose not to eat cows but they do not try to push their morals on me, why should others push their morals on the Japanese?
@openblue07 Since humans have vastly greater power technolgy and intelligence it's our responsibilty to keep Earth healthy, We have the knowledge and understanding that killing whales in such a terrible way is wrong!!!
It's illegal to torment animals and these whales are going through much suffering getting hunted like that.
Im talking about being superior and accepting what it means to be superior it's only humans that can stop other humans from destroying our wonderful planet.
@Miratesus Hunting animals does not need to kill our wonderful planet, animals have hunted each other since animals began. So long as a quota is respected and no endangered whales are hunted there is no reason to think it would be bad for the planet.
i believe they should be killed as quickly as possible to prevent extra suffering, the average time it takes a whale to die is 2-3 mins. It would be better if they could improve on this time.
@openblue07 The manner in which whaling is conducted it's extremely painful to the whale often making it suffer for long periods of time. It's disgraceful and beneath civilized humans to do. Anyone defending this is completely inhuman.
@Miratesus how many countries have zero animal cruelty? Seems a bit hypocritical to complain about another countries behavior if your own country is not perfect, where are you from?
@openblue07 No country has zero animal cruelty, But atleast in my country Sweden we do our best to stop it. Ofcource now you will say, Oh wait your country has a massive moose hunting industry, Well im kind of critical to that aswell, However Swedish hunters are trained to only fire when they have a shot that will instantly kill also they have many rules regarding what animals they can shoot at. Whales that get slowly tormented for hours cannot compare to that.
@Miratesus Okay so you accept that people are going to hunt animals. Most whales die in less than 3 mins, does your country have factory farms? Animals that live in cages suffer for there whole lives, whales at least live free
@Ajr5691 Is that how long it takes them to die when you hunt them? According to the Japanese the average whale takes between two and three minutes. I am sure as the Japanese continue to research the best ways to kill whales they will bring this time down even more.
@openblue07 The Japanese also claim they are doing reshearch, but if your stupid enough to belive that, then that explains why you belive its 3 mineuts for whales to die. Don't believe me, put Sea Shepherd Nightmare into the youtube browser, there is video evedence of a minke whale taking 25 mineuts to die.
@Ajr5691 I believe they are researching the best ways to kill whales. Clearly this will be useful when the moratorium is lifted and whaling resumes.
I am sure there are some whales that take long to die but most do not, i hope the Japanese can improve the speed with which animals die as 25 mins is clearly to long. Are you aware of any countries where there is zero percent animal cruelty? Where are you from?
@openblue07 1st things 1st, the mortatorium will never be lifted as whaling is an outdated, barbaric, savage, has no place in the 21st century industry. Second, no I do not know of a place where there is 0 animal crulty. Thirdly, I'm from Canada and we are the wost criminals toward clubbing seals to death, when I'm older, I an going to oppose the barbarians who commit these ottrocities.
@Ajr5691 Not all whales are endangered, clearly there should only be a quota for whales that are not endangered. In the case of the Minke whale they are not endangered so it is just another animal that some people choose to eat, like any other animal.
The Japanese do not have the right to make a species extinct, and your support for the Japanese whalers shows that you yourself seem to think it is ok to hunt a species to extinction. Doesn't make you much of a person does it?
Most Australians don't eat Kangaroo meat. You are clutching at straws, kangaroos have regular population explosions where millions of them decimate the environment which cannot sustain their numbers so they are culled. Rather than leaving them to rot a market was found for them. Our Humpback whales that migrate the east coast of Australia down to Antartica only number 15,000 today (2012) and are still endangered, we have managed to get their numbers up from around 1,000 and extinction.
The Guardian newspaper UK edition : " Europeans killing more whales than Japan, figures show. Europeans are killing whales in increasing numbers as Norway, Denmark and Iceland propose to hunt 1,478 whales compared to Japan's 1,280 in 2009...Iceland – began its 2009 hunt by killing the first two of 150 fin whales"
Fin whales are terribly endangered. Japan has taken 14 since 1988 while during that same time, Iceland ALONE has taken several HUNDRED Fin whales.
Sometimes, there’s a very thin line between international animal rights activism and xenophobia. Echoing World War II propaganda that tended to depict the Japanese as uniquely wicked – far more weirdly sadistic than the Germans, say – the Sea Shepherd website informs us that the whaling carried out in the Southern Ocean is “cruel and barbaric, a gross sadistic perversion”...Shades of open prejudice in war on whalers“ by Brendon O'Neill of the Australian.
Much international animal rights activism is driven not so much love for animals as disgust and disdain for wicked human beings with dark or “yellow” skin. So Australia’s anti-whalers have successfully rehabilitated what many of us considered to be long-dead prejudices against the Japanese...“Shades of open prejudice in war on whalers“ by Brendon O'Neill of the Australian.
The attempt to transform Sea Shepherd’s overblown cynical seafaring shenanigans, into a clash between the Australian and Japanese authorities shows what lies behind concern for whales today: a desire to exert the moral authority of what are presumed to be Good People (in this case Australia) over Bad People (Japanese). “Shades of open prejudice in war on whalers“ by Brendon O'Neill of the Australian.
A) "What drives whale eating in Japan? Culture? Propaganda? General MacArthur? Soon, Japanese ships will return to the Antarctic for a cargo of whale meat in 4 months of “lethal research” condemned by activists and even Japan’s closest trade partners and allies. Foreign criticism and harassment from SSCS have frustrated the fleet recently but it hasn’t ended Japan's believing its right to a 400 year tradition of eating whales. Japan’s persistence to international opposition is a mystery to many.
B) Diplomatically and financially, Japan has nothing to gain exploiting a loophole in the IWC's moratorium on commercial whaling allowing them to kill 1000 whales yearly. It's clear the fleet is not satisfying the appetite for whale meat back home. While some older Japanese look back fondly on a legal whaling time in the 1940s to 1960s, younger people wonder why anyone would prefer the chewy, oily flesh over chicken, pork and beef." w w w. globalpost. com/dispatch/japan/100407/japan-whale-meat

They loaned money to themselves.
This will end up costing Japan a lot of money in lost trade as Australians are not buying Japanese goods anymore. The Australian people have lost respect for the Japanese people, Japanese whaling has seriously damaged relations and how the Australian people view Japan.
Good and they will continue to attack Japanese whalers, if they are stopped there are others waiting to take their place, this will never end until Japan leaves the whales alone.
@2keepemhonest...The Guardian newspaper UK edition : " Europeans are killing whales in increasing numbers as Norway, Denmark and Iceland propose to hunt 1,478 whales compared to Japan's 1,280 in 2009...Iceland – began its 2009 hunt by killing the first two of 150 fin whales"

Fin whales are terribly endangered and they are valued at about $85,000 each. Japan hasn't killed one for nearly 10 YEARS and has only taken 14 since 1988 while Iceland ALONE has taken nearly 300 for "scientific research", not counting it's commercial whaling.
I know people are gonna tell me I'm wrong but I think this is simply evolution.... there where dinosaurs but their are gone now....there are whales now but we will eat them up ...so? I'm pretty sure Humans will die out one day too! So what there will be new species evolving...
@info145...Are you smoking crack again? Sea Shepherd NEVER stopped Icelandic commercial whaling. Hvalur H/F took 386 Fin an Sei whales under scientific permit between 1986 and 1989 and exported up to 77%. Many conservationists believe the Sea Shepherds actions in 1986 turned Icelandic public opinion against the cause of saving whales". The international reactions were negative. The action was described as an act of vandalism, an act of terrorism and the act of madmen.
A:Because they are Americans. Q:But the whale which an Inuit gets is extinct species? And the whale which Japanese people get is the Minke whale increased too much? Why do you give an Inuit money and stop whaling? Why does it interfere with Japan's whaling? Why .. Does it segregate by race? Q:Shut up!!!Racial discrimination is an Australian!!!
Q:Why do they interfere with Japan's whaling? A:It is for protecting a whale. Q:Is it necessary why to protect a whale? A:Because a whale is likely to be exterminated. Q:Then, why is the American Inuit catching it? A:In order to protect an Inuit's life. Q:Then, the thing which a whale may exterminate for the reason? A:It does not exterminate the whale which an Inuit gets. Q:Why?
@MrRicharon You are ignorant. They are not foreign territorial waters. It has whaled according to IWC rule. Although the duty of research whaling occurs, your country is not investigating. Your country blames Japan's investigation, using Japanese data. If you are opposed to whaling, you should blame the United States which gets the whale of extinct species.
@D2ooSAX Lol. This poaching is in the Australian Antarctic Territory & whale reserves. The IWC has nothing to do with the japanese whaling, because these pieces of shit LIE about doing research.
I am not against whaling. I am against LYING and STEALING.
@MrRicharon "I am against LYING" -, however you are telling the lie. The antarctic sea is not of Australia. The South Pole is not also of a country of anywhere . Don't you know that it is decided under the treaty of the world? Although commercial whaling is forbidden by the moratorium, research whaling of Japan is permitted by the 8th article of ICRW. The United States and Australia were whaling nations before.
@MrRicharon Wow,"The IWC & ICRW does not apply."--owowowo..You are the best? The idea of egocentricity eliminates inconvenient all. Everyone's knowing is only that it is racial discrimination.
@MrRicharon Therefore, research whaling of Japan is approved by IWC.But,Your real intention is not whether it is illegal. I know well that you have hidden real intention. Even if a cow, a pig, and other living things are killed, it does not care about it, but it is the feeling referred to as being unable to allow only a whale. Therefore, as for your people, a good person tells a lie. That is, you are liars.
@MrRicharon To argument with hiding your real intention is wrong. However, since your real intention is not scientific, it does not deserve an argument. If so, there is no qualification for blaming a foreign country.
@D2ooSAX They're simply liars & cowards. MOST of the world agrees they steal animals in Australian waters. ALL of the world agrees they are fishing in nature reserves.
@MrRicharon Since they stopped whaling, whales are continuing increasing in number. Originally a moratorium is unnecessary. The ignorant United States only decided by the power of money and politics forcibly hysterically.
The japanese whalers were unloading meat found to have too much mercury in it as "school lunches", since they couldn't sell those batches as the high priced "delicacy", they decided to avoid losing out financially on their overhead hunting expenses. The japanese government shows how much they care about their OWN people. Those are the "heroes of Japan". Just like in Minamata.
When will people see the facts? The japanese betray the japanese!
@info145..Gee, what you forgot to tell them about whalemeat and school lunches is that while whalemeat is sometimes served in schools, the "tainted" meat you refer to was served only inTAIJI, and was not distributed nationwide (reuters 08/01/07..Whalemeat in Japanese school lunches found toxic"). Whale is'nt a high-price delicacy. A minke whale is valued at $13,000 dollars and it's meat sells for about $20.00 a lb ( watch my video "Whalemeat and the price we pay", if you need PROOF")
The decent people of the world are standing against whaling, and their numbers are growing. The Sea Shepherds are doing as THOSE people wish!
Sign the petition against the slaughter.
It will prove how many people want this killing to end, and that the Faroe are spitefully against world majority

@info145 "The decent people"? That is a lie of good for only you. decent people accepts the eating habits of a foreign country. Only a self-centered person forces his taste. SS only earns money using such stupid. Also you are in it.
November 1986: "SSCS activists return to Iceland and take action against illegal Icelandic whaling operations. Sea Shepherd members Rod Coronado and David Howitt engineer the sinking of two of Iceland's four whaling ships in Reykjavik harbor.
They also destroy the whale processing station at Hvalfjodur. This mission shuts down Icelandic commercial whaling activities for the next 16 years. The attack becomes a headline story worldwide."
@info145...Are you smoking crack again? Sea Shepherd NEVER stopped Icelandic commercial whaling. Hvalur H/F took 386 Fin an Sei whales under scientific permit between 1986 and 1989 and exported up to 77%. Shepherds are supposed to protect their flock, not exploit it while only PRETENDING to protect it. Sea Shepherd should change their name to OCEANAID :
Whale research is important. Recent population growth, abnormal weather and diastrophism may cause food shortage in the future. It is not wise to depend only on livestock industry or fish farming for meat or fish. Whale meat can be important food. Further, if there is no whaling, a number of whales will grow too large and they will eat too much fish decreasing fish resource considerably.
"While Japan claims the hunt is purely for research purposes, they return to port with hundreds of tons of whale meat PACKAGED and ready for the country's commercial markets. This vividly shows Japan's determination to maintain a "commercial" whaling industry under the guise of science in an internationally protected sanctuary. (Antarctica, established through the efforts of U.S. Vice-President Gore). We can not allow them to continue to flout such international agreements." stopwhalingnow. com
Why are people so dead set against letting inoffensive uninvasive animals live in peace? Why so against the preservation of our ecosystem and having a clean Earth in our future? Why hate the people who believe in helping our fellow mammals?
Anyone who tries to help with these ideals is always called "crazy". i'll never understand
@info145 I understand that you want to treat whales special and want Japanese do the same. You are free to think that way but assaulting people who do not think the same is not right thing. It is morally wrong.
@info145 Your lie improved. There are not many whales which Japan obtain. Japan catches only 400 whales which inhabit the antarctic sea 1 million animals. The view of IWC is ending with calculation about it being satisfactory even if 2000 animals catch. As a result of protecting a whale blindly, whales increased in number too much. It led to shortage of their food and it has threatened their lives after all. That man controls nature only receives the punishment of God. Anti-whaling is wrong.
@info145 because these people are assholes that are trying to deprive another country of feeding its people. they are flying a pirate flag for fuck sake, they should be taken and hung like any other pirates.
its called the food chain, bitch, there is a reason we are on top of it.
@TheRealestEver Nah fuck you, you are an idiot... As you have stated its a food CHAIN, well this link is being obliterated cutting down the rest of the ecosystem you moron.
@Pinochi0 LOL you're fucking stupid as shit, i bet the fucking whales are more intelligent than your stupid ass. too bad you're retarded mother didn't abort your ass before she secreted you from her filthy stinkhole. go back to school and take a marine biology class you fucking dipshit vegan fuckwad. kthx.
@TheRealestEver 1) I'm not vegan 2) I don't need a fucking piece of paper to say I can speak on marine biology 3) If your going to make an argument against someone adleast reply with ONE piece of evidence to justify your response, all you did was attempt to insult me BECAUSE YOU KNOW IM RIGHT! YOU MAD YET??????
@TheRealestEver "Pirates" don't try to help anyone or anything. PIRATES: 1) They take things that don't belong to them 2) They kill 3) They disregard laws. Does that describe the Shepherds or the whalers? The term "Eco Terrorist" isn't right either. It would indicate terrorism against the ecology. But the unnecessary killing of Whales is the only activity here harming any part of nature. "Pirate" was just for publicity. Pirates are very "in". Just an image. Public awareness needs to be raised
@info145 Japanese whalers sell whale meat to raise money for research. I think it is normal. Much better than throwing whale meat away like the western whalers were doing long time ago.
"Research" is a transparent cover story which allows them to exploit the anti-whaling law loophole. Collecting the meat to sell is the prime goal.
Note: What kind of research has a "quota"? The japanese themselves said "The Sea Shepherds are interfering with our PROCESSING of a whale on our FACTORY ship." (not "research of a whale on their science vessel"). Fact: In April of 2010, what was the foremost charge Captain Bethune was arrested for? "Obstruction of business".
@info145 I could not find statements by Japanese gov or the ICR which include words like “processing” or “a factory ship”. Please show me URL of the original statement. We need the original because translation may include errors or intentional changes.
According to Oxford Dictionary, a word “business” includes both commercial and non-commercial activities.
In case you creeps haven't figured it out, i'll define it right now:
At least 70% of all who see these videos and post are against whaling!
To top that, most of the rest are just kids posting for the purpose of trying to appear cold and cruel, because apparently, that's the in thing to do. They believe it makes them "the strong".
So then the pared down remainder are the only pro-whalers... and some of those are just agents following orders on the ICR payroll (no matter how they truly feel)
@info145...Anti-whaling groups like Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd, and the World Wildlife Fund spend at least $25 million per year on a variety of activities intended to end commercial whaling, yet every year, commercial whaling not only continues, but grows.
@info145...You're tunnel minded way of thinking let's you only focus on Japan. There ARE other countries that whale commercially in open defiance of the whaling ban (funny how Sea Shepherd doesn't harass THEM at all). The whaling industry is FAR from finished. Japan whales in the Northern Pacific and nobody says shit about it. They have PERMISSION to whale in the Antarctic and in the whale sanctuary. Then they eat the whales. Loop-hole, smoop-pole. It's ALL by the rules.
@info145...The Faroe Islands? Sea Shepherd did absolutely NOTHING in the Faroe Islands, other than limp-dickedly strut around in their usual loutish fashion and stopped NOT ONE whale from being killed. The Faroese were content to just laugh and be hospitable while affording Sea Shepherd no dramatic "Whale Wars" videos. Vikings are funny that way. The Faroese killed HUNDREDS of whales in 2011. If you want to give "examples", you might want to know WTF you are talking about first.
Correction: The Sea Shepherds DID stop the Faroe fairies and their whaling.
They ran and hid and waited until the Shepherds left, then crawled back out of their caves and started again when the ships had to eventually leave. That is cowardice!!!
@info145..When most people make corrections, they usually improve the quality and truthfulness of the statement. When YOU make "corrections", it's only to soothe your battered ego. The Faroese were brilliant. What a DULL spin-off "Whale Wars : Faroe Islands will be (IF it will be) Main point : The Faroese killed HUNDREDS of whales last year and they will do it again THIS year and Sea SCAMherd will pretend to try to stop them and you will console yourself with "corrections".
Why did you delete your foolish comment, coward? Let everyone see your lack of wisdom. Yes, the Faroese resumed their whaling, but once again, the Sea Shepherds have brought the world public's attention onto something they didn't know about. Something they DO NOT LIKE. Now the heat is on! ☺
@info145...I deleted my comment because I made a spelling error. I then immediately re-posted it with the correction. You KNOW all about "corrections" though, don't you? YOUR "corrections" usually involve correcting the comments of other people that don't agree with you, regardless of if your "corrections" are in any way related to, or even remotely convey the truth. You say the Faroese "resumed" whaling? Fool, they never STOPPED and they make no secret of it.
@info145..Christopher Costello and Steven Gaines, of the University of California, and Leah R Gerber of Arizona State University said that although a global moratorium began in 1986, the number of whales being caught has more than doubled since the early 1990s to almost 2,000 each year. They also proposed a "quota market" : Sustainable harvest quotas are quantified, and put up for sale by the International Whaling Commission, allowing activists to buy shares, too. Brilliant.
@info145 It is useless even if you escape from me. It became my mission to reveal your lie. Please say without escaping, if you have a counterargument. After writing @2ooSAX.
@info145...What "dis-info" do you refer to? That's funny, because your dumb ass ought to know by now that I talk the talk and walk the walk to back it up. Go on, enlighten everyone. (and by the way...if "the heat" is on, I can assure you that the heat you refer to is nothing more than the effect of the blood flushing to your embarrassed, red face.)
@info145..Note : Judging by many of the other people's comments, it's obvious that they are as ignorant as you are. And you aren't helping them by lying to them. You want the link about Costello and Gains that states the whaling industry is growing?
go to the underwatertimes edition from 01/11/12 and look up : " Researchers Propose Putting A Price On Whales; Tradable Catch Quota Brings 'A Market Approach'
or go to Wired.com and look up : "A market proposal for saving whales".
@info145...From The Guardian newspaper UK edition : "Europe to hunt more whales than Japan, figures show...Europeans are killing whales in increasing numbers as Norway, Denmark and Iceland propose to hunt 1,478 whales compared to Japan's 1,280 in 2009"
@info145..From The Guardian newspaper UK edition : "Europe to hunt more whales than Japan, figures show...Iceland – which today began its 2009 hunt by killing the first two of 150 fin whales"...

It is shameful to run from place to place, without the ability to refute my counterargument. Everybody knows your lie. Has it inherited your lie from your parents? Didn't your parents tell you morality? Or doesn't your country have morality?
@andysamba You can't proove shit without statistics, you have no fucking clue as to whether or not they are overpopulated. Until you provide me with a link or some form of data to justify your response shut your FUCKING mouth!
@Pinochi0 dude take it easy, theres statistics all over the internet, your just too lazy to go look for em, the thing you are saying is btw just as stupid as saying theres no global warming

But here is the best part...Both Iceland AND Japan are issued permits to whale!!! They have permission from the International Whaling Commission!!! IT'S LEGAL !!!!

It is never you. The different country has different custom and food. Your important thing is not important in a foreign country. kuso4u 4 days ago
@kuso4u "japanese at least do this for food"
Whaling has been illegal since the eighties.
Japan is breaking international law. Criminals sould be put in jail.
Whales has almost gotten extinct due to whaling, And to continue doing it in any manner is just a testament on the complete failure of mankind.
This goes for many nations but in the case of whales it's japan along with a few other countries that are equally bad.
Miratesus 3 days ago
@Miratesus well what is crime? does it have to be written as a law to be considered as crime if you break the law? I don't think so. Just because a species is about to extinct people go crazy about it!? What about the other animals and nature in general, don't care till they will be on the red list!? "failure of mankind" in deed and the solution as well. Once the system fails and we die out the nature can start all over again. I see it as evolution, at last we are part of the nature as well!
kuso4u 3 days ago
@Miratesus The Japanese are not breaking any laws, they are allowed to kill whales fdor research.
Not all whales are endangered.
openblue07 3 days ago
@openblue07 That's the worst excuse ever.
Miratesus 3 days ago
@Miratesus Excuse? it is not an excuse, simply a fact. The IWC intentionally included the clause that allowed for research. If you dont like the rules complain to the IWC.
openblue07 3 days ago
@openblue07 Then none of the whaling meat sould be sold to the population market which is clearly not the case.
May I ask why you are defending the Japanese whalers?
Miratesus 3 days ago
@Miratesus The IWC also states that any left over meat from research is allowed to be sold for human consumption.
I am defending the ideal that is human diversity. I do not believe there is any thing wrong with eating animals, i know the Hindu people choose not to eat cows but they do not try to push their morals on me, why should others push their morals on the Japanese?
openblue07 3 days ago
@openblue07 Since humans have vastly greater power technolgy and intelligence it's our responsibilty to keep Earth healthy, We have the knowledge and understanding that killing whales in such a terrible way is wrong!!!
It's illegal to torment animals and these whales are going through much suffering getting hunted like that.
Im talking about being superior and accepting what it means to be superior it's only humans that can stop other humans from destroying our wonderful planet.
Miratesus 3 days ago
@Miratesus Hunting animals does not need to kill our wonderful planet, animals have hunted each other since animals began. So long as a quota is respected and no endangered whales are hunted there is no reason to think it would be bad for the planet.
i believe they should be killed as quickly as possible to prevent extra suffering, the average time it takes a whale to die is 2-3 mins. It would be better if they could improve on this time.
openblue07 2 days ago
@openblue07 The manner in which whaling is conducted it's extremely painful to the whale often making it suffer for long periods of time. It's disgraceful and beneath civilized humans to do. Anyone defending this is completely inhuman.
Miratesus 3 days ago
@Miratesus how many countries have zero animal cruelty? Seems a bit hypocritical to complain about another countries behavior if your own country is not perfect, where are you from?
openblue07 2 days ago
@openblue07 No country has zero animal cruelty, But atleast in my country Sweden we do our best to stop it. Ofcource now you will say, Oh wait your country has a massive moose hunting industry, Well im kind of critical to that aswell, However Swedish hunters are trained to only fire when they have a shot that will instantly kill also they have many rules regarding what animals they can shoot at. Whales that get slowly tormented for hours cannot compare to that.
Miratesus 2 days ago
@Miratesus Okay so you accept that people are going to hunt animals. Most whales die in less than 3 mins, does your country have factory farms? Animals that live in cages suffer for there whole lives, whales at least live free
openblue07 2 days ago
@openblue07 I am glad to hear that whales die in less than 3 mins.
00019972b 2 days ago
@openblue07 what kind of a dumass are yoy, it takes the average whale 25 mineuts to die.
Ajr5691 1 day ago
@Ajr5691 Is that how long it takes them to die when you hunt them? According to the Japanese the average whale takes between two and three minutes. I am sure as the Japanese continue to research the best ways to kill whales they will bring this time down even more.
openblue07 1 day ago
@openblue07 The Japanese also claim they are doing reshearch, but if your stupid enough to belive that, then that explains why you belive its 3 mineuts for whales to die. Don't believe me, put Sea Shepherd Nightmare into the youtube browser, there is video evedence of a minke whale taking 25 mineuts to die.
Ajr5691 1 day ago
@Ajr5691 I believe they are researching the best ways to kill whales. Clearly this will be useful when the moratorium is lifted and whaling resumes.
I am sure there are some whales that take long to die but most do not, i hope the Japanese can improve the speed with which animals die as 25 mins is clearly to long. Are you aware of any countries where there is zero percent animal cruelty? Where are you from?
openblue07 23 hours ago
@openblue07 1st things 1st, the mortatorium will never be lifted as whaling is an outdated, barbaric, savage, has no place in the 21st century industry. Second, no I do not know of a place where there is 0 animal crulty. Thirdly, I'm from Canada and we are the wost criminals toward clubbing seals to death, when I'm older, I an going to oppose the barbarians who commit these ottrocities.
Ajr5691 22 hours ago
@Ajr5691 If the intention was never to lift it then there would be a ban on whaling. A moratorium is not meant to last for ever, by definition.
U seem to like whales, Hindu people consider cows to be sacred. Do you think Canada would stop farming cows because the Hindu people ask them to?
As long as the whales that are taken are not endangered and quota r respected they r just another animal that people eat.
openblue07 21 hours ago
@openblue07 no,cows aren't endangerd, whales are.
Ajr5691 17 hours ago
@Ajr5691 Not all whales are endangered, clearly there should only be a quota for whales that are not endangered. In the case of the Minke whale they are not endangered so it is just another animal that some people choose to eat, like any other animal.
openblue07 17 hours ago
@openblue07 And yes, I sould complain to the IWC.

The6sicksikhs 1 week ago
Much international animal rights activism is driven not so much love for animals as disgust and disdain for wicked human beings with dark or “yellow” skin. So Australia’s anti-whalers have successfully rehabilitated what many of us considered to be long-dead prejudices against the Japanese...“Shades of open prejudice in war on whalers“ by Brendon O'Neill of the Australian.
The6sicksikhs 1 week ago

IRS documents show that the non-profit, donation run, Sea Shepherd society made a series of loans to its wholly-owned affiliate, the for-profit "Northern Development Associates", between 1998 and 2003? They loaned money to themselves.

D2ooSAX 1 week ago
@D2ooSAX Lol. This poaching is in the Australian Antarctic Territory & whale reserves. The IWC has nothing to do with the japanese whaling, because these pieces of shit LIE about doing research.

MrRicharon 1 week ago
@MrRicharon "I am against LYING" -, however you are telling the lie. The antarctic sea is not of Australia. The South Pole is not also of a country of anywhere . The United States and Australia were whaling nations before.

The japanese whalers were unloading meat found to have too much mercury in it as "school lunches", since they couldn't sell those batches as the high priced "delicacy", they decided to avoid losing out financially on their overhead hunting expenses.

@TheRealestEver
Keep in mind, the japanese SWEAR this mass killing of whales is not for food, but for science
info145 2 weeks ago
@info145 Japanese whalers sell whale meat to raise money for research. I think it is normal. Much better than throwing whale meat away like the western whalers were doing long time ago.
00019972b 2 weeks ago
@00019972b

00019972b 2 weeks ago
@info145 You failed to prove that Japanese whaling is commercial whaling. Spreading wrong information is not a right thing to do.
Please watch this "com/watch?v=kKE-Wgo_uxw&featu¬¬re=related" , you can see things diffently.
00019972b 2 weeks ago
In case you creeps haven't figured it out, i'll define it right now:
At least 70% of all who see these videos and post are against whaling!
To top that, most of the rest are just kids posting for the purpose of trying to appear cold and cruel, because apparently, that's the in thing to do. They believe it makes them "the strong".
So then the pared down remainder are the only pro-whalers... and some of those are just agents following orders on the ICR payroll (no matter how they truly feel)
info145 2 weeks ago
@info145...Anti-whaling groups like Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd, and the World Wildlife Fund spend at least $25 million per year on a variety of activities intended to end commercial whaling, yet every year, commercial whaling not only continues, but grows.

Grows? Need i remind you?, Whaling was shut down at only 20% of its desired quota in 2011.
As soon as the Australian government finally gets directly involved, the whalers will RUN for good. It'll be back to eating cockroaches for you

@info145...Youtube trolls as "agents" of the ICR. Paranoid much? Get real.
The6sicksikhs 2 weeks ago
@info145...You're tunnel minded way of thinking let's you only focus on Japan. There ARE other countries that whale commercially in open defiance of the whaling ban (funny how Sea Shepherd doesn't harass THEM at all). The whaling industry is FAR from finished. Japan whales in the Northern Pacific and nobody says shit about it. They have PERMISSION to whale in the Antarctic and in the whale sanctuary. Then they eat the whales. Loop-hole, smoop-pole. It's ALL by the rules.
The6sicksikhs 1 week ago
@The6sicksikhs
Make no mistake, Sea Shepherds do NOT focus only on Japan. Example: The Faroe Islands.
info145 1 week ago
@info145...The Faroe Islands? Sea Shepherd did absolutely NOTHING in the Faroe Islands, other than limp-dickedly strut around in their usual loutish fashion and stopped NOT ONE whale from being killed. The Faroese were content to just laugh and be hospitable while affording Sea Shepherd no dramatic "Whale Wars" videos. Vikings are funny that way. The Faroese killed HUNDREDS of whales in 2011. If you want to give "examples", you might want to know WTF you are talking about first.
The6sicksikhs 1 week ago
@The6sicksikhs

The6sicksikhs 1 week ago
@The6sicksikhs
info145 1 week ago
@info145...I deleted my comment because I made a spelling error. I then immediately re-posted it with the correction. You KNOW all about "corrections" though, don't you? YOUR "corrections" usually involve correcting the comments of other people that don't agree with you, regardless of if your "corrections" are in any way related to, or even remotely convey the truth. You say the Faroese "resumed" whaling? Fool, they never STOPPED and they make no secret of it.
The6sicksikhs 1 week ago
@info145..Christopher Costello and Steven Gaines, of the University of California, and Leah R Gerber of Arizona State University said that although a global moratorium began in 1986, the number of whales being caught has more than doubled since the early 1990s to almost 2,000 each year. They also proposed a "quota market" : Sustainable harvest quotas are quantified, and put up for sale by the International Whaling Commission, allowing activists to buy shares, too. Brilliant.

Fin whales are terribly endangered and they are valued at about $85,000 each. Japan hasn't killed one for nearly 10 YEARS only taken 14 since 1988 while Iceland ALONE has taken nearly 300 for "scientific research", not counting it's commercial whaling. Do the math and tell me who's a threat.

Whale research is important. Recent population growth, abnormal weather and diastrophism may cause food shortage in the future. It is not wise to depend only on livestock industry or fish farming for meat or fish. Whale meat can be important food. Further, if there is no whaling, a number of the whales will grow too large and they will eat too much fish which will decrease fish considerably.
