In the book, Cersei tried to seduce Ned into betraying Robert and being her husband and King, before Ned shut her down and it turned into hostility. It added an interesting layer to the scene and helped reveal Cersei's character.
This show is great. I gotta hand to HBO, they're the only tv channel in the world that knows what theyre doing, everything since the Sopranos has been pure gold
@wh0represents Aw yeah, forgot about those ones, were they before the Sopranos? I just finished Boardwalk Empire, probably one of their less promoted shows but still brilliant. They really put effort into their shows, Im so glad that 'Reality' Television hasnt completely killed the serial, or been neutered to 2 1/2 Men levels.
and THAT's why game of thrones is so good. because it's real. Ned made a decision. Whether that decision was a mistake or not is in HIS own perspective. and like in the real world he pays for his decision which seeing how it turns out looks like a massive mistake. was it? he dies but he does what is right. So does this meaning doing the right thing is a mistake?
I'm gonna get slammed for this, but I've gotta say it: I don't think Cersei is evil. Especially now that I've started reading her point-of-view in A Feast for Crows. Without spoiling I'll try to explain my argument. She's a mother (whether you approve of incest or not) and she has to do what she can to protect her children and her way of life. She's acting in defense of her family and I can respect that. I commend this series for having 3D characters because no one is truly evil, not even Cersei
@LoveoneAn I'm not far enough to know Ramsay Snow, so you may be right. And I'll agree, Gregor and Reek are evil, so I'll amend my previous statement: I don't think any of the main characters (who get their own POV sections) are purely one archetype. These books are so good because you're not sure who you want to win (or at least I'm not) because each house has characters you like and each major character has at least one redeeming quality.
@AliceCullensAwesome : nope. Cersei is evil. The way she treats her young brother tyrion is cruel. The way she treats people is nothing much to say for either, she treats them as tools and manipulates them, not all the time for protecting her children, rather simply because she feels her children and her person worth are more valuable. The things she do later on... well you just gotta read for yourself i suppose.
@redcodec Out of curiosity, where in the series are you? I'm assuming you're ahead of me, but I want to check before I make my argument because I don't want to spoil...
@redcodec Her paranoia over Tyrion, to me, seems extreme, but very natural considering what she suspects him of (I won't be too specific in cast people reading this comment aren't as far as I am). And, in my opinion, while we know he didn't do what she suspects him of, to her it looks very much like he did.
@AliceCullensAwesome : I wasn't refering to her paranoia regarding Tyrion. I was refering to how mean she is to Tyrion since the beginning of the book. How she had always despised him as a monster of sorts. I believed she was pinching him since he was a baby until Jaime stopped her once, was in the books. [SPOILER read if you have read the fifth book] How she treated that finna (can't remember her name), Bron's sister in law is plain proof of her being evil and cruel.
@redcodec Haven't read the last half of your comment (since I haven't read the fifth book--thanks for the spoiler alert) but I'll just say that I agree, she's not the epitome of a good person in any way, and her treatment of Tyrion as a child and later as an adult was awful. However, I don't feel like I can make a blanket judgement on her as a truly evil person when I understand some of her motives very well.
In the book she tried to seduce him here. She ran a hand up his leg and said something like "enemies can become friends". Then he asked if she made the same offer to Jon Arryn, and she slapped him. That was the end of that.
One of the best quotations in the game of thrones but understand, if the people don't love you, they'll kill you. Can't wait for season 2&3. Cersei's an idiot at ruling lol.
this vid got a little weird at 0:56, I mean we kinda get the point which line was your favorite the first time but the repeat and slow motion did something a bit...spooky
i can't recall the exact instances since its been a while since i read the books but i am quite sure that the phrase 'game of thrones' is spoken by various characters at least once in each book, usually more than once
@User5973 Conan the Barbarian is an excellent model for Ned Stark, as he's not afraid to KILL the enemy when he has the chance. That's something that Ned failed to do. As hand he had power; he could have had assassin's kill Joffrey or Cersei in their beds. But he couldn't because he's the good guy, and the guy goods never hurt their enemies unless the enemies hurt them first. Ned should have killed the Lannisters when he had the chance.
@AntiTroll101 : Conan and Ned are worlds apart. Conan is a barbarian, Ned is a lord of a noble house. Ned did not do all these, because he has honour, and he does many things out of consideration for the honour of his best friend Robert as well.
NOW I know why there are so many dislikes.... 'cause of the fucking stupid ass ending. Also, whoever made this video cut out the imperative end line "There is no middle ground"
People dislike this clip because why the fuck would Eddard tell Cersei about his plan to reveal the truth? He should have kept it inside and told only Robert when he returned from his hunt. Possibly the stupidest move i've ever seen in my life.
@SonnyA89 Good to see that trying to do something honorable is stupid. He told her not to brag, but to give a chance for one mother protect her child and her family. Just like with Dany, don't want the blood of the children running on the floor.
@GuiDiogenes Oh yeah that's very honorable. He could have just planned it all out behind her back and just arrested/exiled her and the child. He was the King's Hand after all he had the power. But no he's such an idiot he tells her what's he's going to do to her face. That's a plot hole I guess, again the stupidest move i've ever seen in my life.
@SonnyA89 Did you read the books? The whole freakin' Kings Landing hate the Lannisters to the Bones. "cause Tywin put the city to the sword and gave the womans to their mans. For how long do you thing they would survive if they were separeted of their guard, arrested? On Mycella's Farewell they would had kill all then, the mob and rape as they did with some. And do as you say... How could just arrest her in the shadows if there were crimson cloaks in all over Red Keep.
@SonnyA89 The only hope it was do that in front of the law and justice. And that were something naive. But for the readers maybe thats ok, but in that universe, how could one think that the will of the king would be torn a part just like that and nobody do nothing? thats was an absurd, that if you keep reading will se Barristan and some talk about that. The problem is that, Ned was senteced to die the moment he arrived on kings landing. Every plan he could make without be corrupt, would fail.
@GuiDiogenes and by the way. thats honor too. that scene in the book took place in the "Godswood". Sacred for Ned. He could not lie there. And Cersei tried another stuff like, offer herself to him. And... this corruption will consume the Lannister and everything in Kings Landing, just wait to see..
@Rereversed So true. Read first two books and so far I can't tell who's winning the goddamned war! Every house has lost soldiers and land at this point in the war. I think George R.R. Martin should have detailed the development of the war of the five kings a little better so the readers could understand how its playing out, and which side is suffering the least and gaining the most.
@ThePrinceOfCola They're playing it the right way: They aren't making moves directly for the Throne the way everyone else has done. They just use the Game to improve their own social standings, or make sure whoever is in charge is easy enough for them to manipulate without drawing attention to themselves.
No, that was one of eddards mistakes. if he took the thrones (even though he didnt want to) he would of been a great king. No war of 5 king etc... i know i know all he wants to do is spend all the time whith his kids and stuff but overall the realm would be better if he was king. Lol so many charaters die in a song of ice and fire and there all good guys lol
Also I must admit when I heard her saying 'Game of Thrones' I had an Arrested Development moment where Ron Howards goes, 'Hey, that's the name of the show!'
I absolutely hated this scene. Because she used the title of the show IN the show like some cliche family guy moment. I almost turned off my t.v. and lost slight respect for the show. But its still one of my favorite series...
@reaperofgenocide If you've ever read the books, which are 10,000X more amazing than the show(which is amazing itself), you'd know that this dialogue came straight out of the first book in the series. Come to think of it, the book was called A Game Of Thrones as well. So by your reasoning should I respect the book less? Or respect the show less because it's simply called Game of Thrones instead of A Game of Thrones? Even though the book series is called A Song Of Ice And Fire... hmmmmmmm..... ;)
@final6warning well im not much of a reader like 90% of other americans. I just found it extremely cliche... my face was like -.- . If you want to understand my reasoning just look at every movie that uses the title of the movie within the movie. I understand your point about it being actual words in the book which actually makes me feel alittle better but not by much. Still love this show alot

I'm begining to realise that with each book (and each dead character) GRRM is trying to tell us that if you play the game of thrones... you die. Sooner or later, someone is going to kill you. So thanks for that, really uplifting.
@07azunyan Please refrain from mentioning Martin's epic masterpiece in the same sentence as Rowling's series for kids (yes, it was entertaining, but it's not anywhere close to being on the same level).
I actually feel for Cersei Lannister. She does bad things, but really all she wants is to protect her children, and you see that in the TV series to some extent, but you really see it in the books. She's not as evil as Joffery or Jaime, and unlike them her motivation is more understandable. I didn't want Ned to die, but I don't think Cersei is really the bad guy. I think this series is more complicated than black and white this side is good and this side is bad.
@AliceCullensAwesome See, even in the first book i didn't think Jaime was evil. Morally ambiguous, maybe, but everything he did was for the love of his siblings. The way his capture by Robb's forces is written in the book is really quite incredible. With a blade in hand, the man is a force of nature. Storm of Swords really opens his character up. You better understand his motivations. Ned was a good, honourable man, but he married a nitwit.
@Stigmatainmypants i cuncur with that As much as i love Cat she pisses me off sooo much. I wanted to rip out my hair whenever she released Jaime mainly because She didnt even know if both her girl were there in Kings Landing. If she waited it would have been a lot better thats my thought anyway but i LOVE jaime xD
i like the series and the shock of epeisode 10 was pre craZAY and different...buutt....I AM SO FUCKING ANGRY THAT DROGO AND NED DID NOT GET TO FUCK EACH OTHER UP! It almost makes me want to stop watching the series in protest, but then..."que intro music" I CANT STOP! DEN DEN DEN DEN DERRR DURRR! DEN DEN DENN DEN DERRR DUURRR I CAAANTT STOP (echoe) stop stop stop stop. ^_^
Well, he certainly didn't win...by the way, am I the only who thinks the opening scene of the episode after his execution is nasty as hell (in a good way)? Like how the guy is cleaning the sword, which is incredibly bloody, with hairs stuck to it...
@Jessika80 if he wasn't he wouldn't have been where he was then. The reason he died is because he was foolish enough to trust Littlefinger, not because he was honourable.
Don't get why so many people dislike the video just for the little repetition at the end.

I absolutely hated this scene. Because she used the title of the show IN the show like some cliche family guy moment. I almost turned off my t.v. and lost slight respect for the show. But its still one of my favorite series...
reaperofgenocide 5 months ago

Ned would be the type of guy that would fight Voldemort without taking out his Horucruxes.
07azunyan 6 months ago 2
@07azunyan Please refrain from mentioning Martin's epic masterpiece in the same sentence as Rowling's series for kids (yes, it was entertaining, but it's not anywhere close to being on the same level).

@07azunyan Joffrey Lannister is a better Draco Malfoy than Draco Malfoy.
07azunyan 5 months ago 4
I actually feel for Cersei Lannister. She does bad things, but really all she wants is to protect her children, and you see that in the TV series to some extent, but you really see it in the books. She's not as evil as Joffery or Jaime, and unlike them her motivation is more understandable. I didn't want Ned to die, but I don't think Cersei is really the bad guy. I think this series is more complicated than black and white this side is good and this side is bad.
AliceCullensAwesome 6 months ago 2
@AliceCullensAwesome jaime isn't evil.
equallyeasilyfuqyou 6 months ago
@equallyeasilyfuqyou maybe he becomes good later, but halfway through Clash of Kings I get the impression that he's fairly evil....
AliceCullensAwesome 6 months ago

I like Ned but he's without a doubt an idiot. In politics, you can't afford to be honorable.
