there is a difference btw, guages of differebt metals ladies .just so you know- an 18 guage in copper is not the same strength as am 18 guage in stainless steel or silver wires or brass etc. copper is a softer wire. Tip: if you have copper wire and would like it to be harder .then purchase a rubber mallet or a raw hide mallet.after you have formed your shape. begin hammering it on a hard smooth surface.just a few hits should do.test it for strength.now you are ready to add the spirals.
Lik VIPbraids said the flimsy wire is great for coiling. I love Peruvian earrings and have the technique down but my biggest problem it my wire loses shape. I purchased 18gauge wire from Michael's. Do u have the same problem or am I bein heavy handed? I lik for the thread to be tight so it won't look too loose and saggy. I recently purchased some 18gauge at Menard's (which was only $.99 much cheaper than michael's) I haven't tried it yet but I can tell it's much stronger
If U con't 2 post vids, get a tripod 2 put your camera on so that it doesn't move all the time. Its very annoying/unprofessional 2 watch a vid where the camera is constantly shaking. Also, if U know of a bead store, or art store other than Michael's such as Pearls paint, U can get the gauge wirers in all sizes at a fair price. Your e-rings R nice, thanks for posting.
did the 18 gauge wire that u got from the floral department give u n e problems when making the earrings.. O yea, I found the coiling gizmo at JoAnn's Fabrics for $6.99 (in case sum1 wanted to know) Thanks 4 this vid cause um goin 2 get started 2morrow
Hola--- I went to Joanne Fabric today by FLUKE and decided i was going to pick this up-- While I was there I googled from my phone and the tools/supplies that I found in one Tut-- wellllllll didnt exactly help, buttttttt I am happy to know-- that with my wonderful brain i figured out the proper items to get... only thing i dont have is the coiling gizmo---- so ill be industrious and use a metal RAT TAIL COMB! GO ME! Wish me luck.. thanks for the vid.... :-) Jai
That's at all Michaels. You can get much more on the spools at Hardware stores. And you can get the gardening wire in silver, copper, bronze and colors if you wish to use them. I used them for the tree of life pendant since I can't afford the sterling silver wire Camille talks about. Thanks for the vid, great ideas come from great minds.
You are the bomb for these videos and letting "the secret out". It's amazing how little info you can find on how to make these. I mean people know how to cook but you don't see Mcdonald's going out of business.

See if you have a bead store in your area, they usually sell better gauge wire than Michaels and the other craft stores. Hope this helps.
