The proposed BBC / ITV / C4 venture (formerly called Kangaroo, now called SeeSaw) will be ad-supported. That's the price we have to pay for video on demand!

@VolDorei Their contract for international programming allows for advertising, British license payers get lumped in with all viewers from around the world as long as the programme is uploaded from the BBCWorldwideTV channel according to a contractual loop-hole. On the advertising front, the Beeb aren't taking any renevue from it, it's just an automated system implemented on all videos uploaded from a commercial channel. They can be quite easily removed by an adblock application. google it.
