  • @RyanBenn

Wow. Thats amazing! I also used it and

I have to say that ive made such beautiful,

    absolutely beautiful wooden cabinet. What

I really like about it is that it was written in

full detailed w/o anything to miss on thats

why my creation was like quite a professional

handmade.. lol. Anyway, you mispelled the

    site name. That should be:

    TopWoodWorking.info

  • l got to get a lathe to do stuff. Thanks awesome work!

  • Great job, Im now getting a lathe.

    Cheers from Sweden

  • @vasterhaninge Awesome!

  • Hey people who like bass noost check my chanel!

    /user/boss3453

  • superb video and really good looking speakers :P

  • what place did you get the wood?

  • @sebbyjuice. I got this piece from a friend a few years ago.

  • is the wood maple burl or?

  • @Spencerwoodworking Yes it is maple burl Spencer.

  • @haydenHD Yea I wasn't sure if you said it or not but thats what it looked like, I love working with maple burl its just so nice looking

  • Beauty!

  • OMG i have to get a wood turning machine to make me some awesome stuff

  • Cieszę się, ze ma palce jeszcze całe. Kup tokarkę z imakiem! :)

  • Damn... nice, it should make a wonderful sound, and different wood, different sound quality.

  • whats the white stuff yore using when you sand it and what does it do?

  • @bajsmannensparty It's paste wax and mineral oil. I use it as the finish.

  • @haydenHD Okey, I like to make handles for knives and i was wondering if this is a good way too finnish my knifes, usualy i use linseed oil. Do oyu think it will turn out nice?

  • @bajsmannensparty I would stick with the linseed oil. It's a much more durable finish for a knife.

  • WTF THEY LOOK LIKE BALLS

  • Wow dude thats harder than it looks. Ur a friggin pro.

  • @DylanSteffey2013 Thank you,

  • can you make these for bigger subs like 10"?

  • @redswr Yes but it's hard to find wood that big that matches.

  • CAN I BUY U ONE

  • Nice work.

  • Thank you.

  • nice work, now i wanna get turning again.lol! How do you mount them?

  • I used a Nova chuck to hold the piece.

  • @haydenHD no i mean the speakers do they sit in something to stop them from moving around from vibration?

  • Sorry, I used a aluminum tube and hung them from the ceiling.

  • @haydenHD yeah i love turning and like seing neat projects thanks

  • who is your supplier for quality speaker parts?

  • I got them at a speaker store in Portland OR a few years ago. I don't have a supplier I don't generally make these to sell.

  • Totally cool man. You should sell those.

  • i love working with lathes :) miss school because of shop class, miss shop class because of the lathe... :(

  • wow!!!

  • @haydenHD 5:47 It is very dangerous to use a rag near a spinning chuck. If it catches onto it and spins around it can break your hand. Also, don't wear loose clothing, gloves or a tie as they can get caught as well.

  • Yes I agree, cloth rags are very dangerous to use for wipping or polishing on a spinning lathe. In this video and all my videos I only use paper towels.

    Thanks for reminding everyone,

    Carl

  • Wow! You are truly a skilled craftsman!

  • awesome! Great stuff.

  • Thanks,

  • Gawd, that block of wood is scaring me. Not a phobia or anything, it's just that I had a block of wood come off the lathe and hit my nose. Guess I didn't tighten it properly. And may be the fact that the block of wood was too large for the lathe.

  • almost made me wanna cry thats probably the best piece of work/art ive seen in a while. I hope you've made profits from your skill/trade.

  • Thank you,

  • You're much better than i am on a lathe, i actually broke my wrist using one in school...

  • Ouch!

  • @haydenHD I had almost the same exeprience, only that the skin on my hands got most the damage, right hand the most. I guess that's what I get for working with a lathe whilst wearing gloves. -_-

  • @haydenHD i want to hear what it sounds like

  • The music reminds me of a fishing show

  • My god, i wish i could spend a couple of days with you. You could literally teach me so much :|

  • Hi.. after making my own speakers like this I just stumbled across your video. I too made mine around 2009 it's strange how two people on different sides of the globe can think of similar designs, mine are quite a bit smaller though and are free standing, I would like to show you to see what you think, in the uk we don't have a large amount of choice when it comes to finishes so I finished them with friction polish, would you mind sending me an email so I can then send you a picture of mine. Th

  • Thanks, woodworking and turning are great hobbies.

  • Excellent work, very inspirational! What kind of wax are you using with your sandpaper, and what is the purpose of sanding with wax? I have never seen or heard of that method. Cheers, Tom

  • Hi Tom,

It's paste wax and mineral oil I use it to cut down on the sanding dust.

    Carl

  • those are piezo tweeters....basicly junk but to make the enclose takes skill.....dotn waste your time with that for piezo's

  • @emersiveav I don't know about you, but I like to hear the highs also in my music.

  • That was impressing... Thanx for posting.

  • Thank you,

  • Thanks for the video!

  • Great vid!!!

  • could make some VERY nice looking wake board speakers like this. Excellent work man, you just got another subcriber ;3

  • Thank you! Not sure how the sun would react with the wood, but awesome idea.

    Carl

  • @haydenHD thats what resin's for! :D

  • @RWL2011 and just how much bass output will be produced from a speaker that size do you think?... fuck all, going back to my original statement, he's building the enclosures simply for aesthetics... do you even know what aesthetics means?

  • @RWL2011 but he's not using that kind of driver, idiot

  • @RWL2011 it's simply for aesthetics you idiot

  • Thanks nice clip , Always wondered how they hollowed out wood ! Speaker looks well nice

  • Nice skills, but I would rather use them for middle range in 3-way systems for example. Hehe, actually you gave an idea. Why the hell using plastic cups for mids, when solid wood can (and maybe will) sound better.

Anyway, there should be some padding inside.

  • I'd really apreciate a video of these speakers in action.... *please*

  • do you sell these?

  • I really appreciate jobs with lathes,i'm a very advanced DIYer and i wish i could have a CNC and a Lathe in the house somewhere,i'm almost missing half of the fun without them.

By the way,a question, why the Tweeter is a Piezo? lol

  • you horny ... is a simple thing but what is the ease solprende me, so the beams

  • Thank you,

  • good job

  • Can you help me with some steps to a box for spl?

  • @Cubicaje Get WinISD or Bassbox and simulate a box for your driver using your driver's Thiele/Small Parameters and the extended low response/high spl method of each Software, remember to follow the manufacturer's instructions about the displacement and tuning of the cab if you have any.

  • master

  • Great video, thanks for sharing .

  • hate the music !

  • how much would you charge for a set just like those? but in 1 3/8 tweeters? id def buy a set off you

  • how mch would you charge for a set just like those? but in 1 3/8 tweeters? id def buy a set off you

  • man i should of tooken wood-shop class in high skool now im regretting it lol man ur really amazing very artistic

  • It's never too late to start.

    Thanks,

    Carl

  • @AnonymousMienDude haha being ironic, i took woodshop in highschool... i was making a bowl on a lathe. It was when I chucked it to work on the inside that everything went south... the wood snapped off at the base and nailed me right in the nose. I was out for 10 minutes and still cant remember the first hour after I regained consciousness. haha but i DID go back and finish the bowl.

  • OUCH!! Glad to hear you finished it though.

  • @AnonymousMienDude Naw, you should have taken more English. Even craftsmen need to have the basics down or they get tossed aside as unprofessional.

    Should of tooken? Skool? Yikes!!!

  • I've never heard of sanding WITH the beeswax/mineral oil before. It also seems like you're only using one grit. Is that all you need?

  • I use the wax and oil to cut down the sanding dust. I start with about 220 and go up to 600 grit sandpaper.

  • F***ing amazing

  • I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Thanks a million, i appreciate the educational manner in which you presented it as well as the manner in which you composed the video for uploading. Great job on both aspects.

Please, if you have the time keep these great videos coming.

    Chris

  • Thanks Chris. I try to upload every Wednesday.

  • it like a cup of water made out of wood :)

  • i remember my days of wood turning at school. that was an edgy experience.

  • good video.. but the guy's voice sounds like charlie sheen :D

  • "WINNING"

  • @haydenHD You mean "BI-WINNING"

  • do you sell any of these boxes?

  • Yes, I a working on a pair right now. Waiting for the wood to dry so it can be turned.

  • @haydenHD how much would you be willing to sell a pair for?

  • this is amazing i never even thought about making a box like that i might just try it

  • thaqnk you so much for the vid sir

the idea of using the wax mix for sanding sounds and works so good could you give more info on the mix formula please thank you again it's a pleasure to wathc you work

  • Yes, it is paste wax and mineral oil. I give detailed instructions in one of my recent videos on making a bandsaw box, toward the end of the video.

  • Some nice looking wood you got there :P

  • That was pretty amazing....:)

Realistically, could you do that just as easily with something bigger, like a 10" sub? Have you tried it? I'd love to see that!

  • I have not tried it. I am currently trying to find some wood for 11" mid range. When I find the wood and make the speakers I will post the video.

    Thanks,

    Carl

  • waw respect sir but what wood are you using?

  • It's maple,

  • Amazing, just amazing, I can't thank you enough!!!!

  • Thank you,

  • so i have a question, which im hoping you can answer=] or will atleast see and explain in one of your later videos, are you puting some sort of finish or wax on while your sanding? ive never seen anyone put wax, or finish for that matter on while they sand? it looks incredibly amazing though =] im going to try and see if i can make somthing like this in out woodshop at school =] thanks

  • Hi,

It's paste wax and mineral oil I mix it together. I use it to cut down on the sanding dust and for the finish.

    Thanks,

    Carl

  • You make that so deceivingly easy! great work

  • Thank you,

  • great job

  • Thank you, these are fun to make.

  • wher can i get this maschiene. i wanna do something like that, too

  • Your local woodworking store will have them.

  • Nice, combining my two favourite things woodturning and music.

  • Wow nice work. You could sell those!

  • how big of a piece of wood can you fit in a lathe?

  • Perfect job! I like it! It's great when you are able to make something by yourself.. :)

  • Thank you it's a great hobby.

  • best speaker box ever

  • Thank you,

  • Very impressive, sadly a lost art!

  • Thank you. We're all trying to help bring it back.
