  • Childrens Television Workshop used this sequence in Electric Company and Sesame Street since they derived from the same creators.

  • Sesame Street. The Electric Company was a little before my time, but I remember this very well.

  • Sesame Street NOT Electric Company

  • Definitely Electric Company. Came on right after Sesame Street when I was a kid.

  • Dang, I can't believe some of u old-heads forgot that this was from Sesame-Street! I know it seems as though it was from Electric Company because it was a little funkier, and EC was a lot funkier as a show but this was from Sesame Street. Do everyone a favor and use this (computer tool) and Wiki pinball Sesame-Street and it will come up. END OF DISCUSSION!!

  • @phoneke definitely Electric Company. I remember it quite well. Perhaps it appeared on Sesame Street, also. Probably later on because it wasn't on there when I was a kid.

  • @weezy11972 this is actually from sesame street :)

  • wikipedia - pinball number count ... all the info.

"Pinball Number Count" originally from Sesame Street 1977

Sounds like Sesame intersected 110th Street!

  • It's like War meets The Fifth Dimension meets The Yellow Submarine!

Trying to find a song mp3 to download.

70's TV music kicked ass. How about the "Wonder Woman" theme? The Jeffersons (both opening and closing themes)? Good Times? Hawaii Five-O? Baretta? Even Diff'rent Strokes.

  • Wow, I've been wanting to see this video again since I was a kid. We had a black and white tv back then so this is the first time I've seen it in color.

For those of you debating whether it was Sesame Street or The Electric Company, I remember it as being The Electric Company along with the Spider Man videos.

  • ah, this is from Sesame Street. (^_^)

  • This is from Sesame Street not Electric Company...

  • klassic, @ marybex, don't feel bad. i luv'd watchin' 3-2-1 Contact, & Bread & Butterflies, it doesn't make us old [that's my story & i'm stickin' to it!].

  • This is a wicked good posting! I remember watching Sesame Street and the Electric Company aftet school in Boston! I also loved Dark Shadows! God I am SO old!

  • I agree with room203. I recall this as sesame street too. Not electric company!

  • I should've never stopped smoking weed

  • I remember watching this with my then six siblings, arguing over which number they were going to focus on for the day. Such memories! <3

  • thumbs up if you're here because of the venetian snares remix

  • Does anyone have this version in mp3 format?

  • @joaquinodelorenzo you can download the audio mp3 from amazon. look for "Pinball Number Count" by the Pointer Sisters. It's from a Sesame Street cd called "Songs From The Street: 35 Years of Songs"

  • Who ever made this was so high. lol

  • Rather 'subtle' Invitation to the grotesque, to "accept" it

  • Screw drugs, this is like acid without the crappy afterwards! XD

  • Whats all about?!

  • There's so many odd times going on in this! It constantly goes back and forth from 4/4 to 7/4 and 6/4, not to mention how sweet the grooves are.

  • @Visualundeath

I am there too eating my cherios on the couch too. Waiting for t the smurfs to come on next!

  • @Visualundeath Ah-ha! That explains why naive attempts to sync this loop it to electronica came up empty.

  • awesome

  • This was definitely on Sesame Street in the 90's, cause I never watched the Electric Company.

  • xD I remember this from family guy. But anyways, SO 70s JAM!! :D

  • this is the fuckin jam right here doo dooo dooo doooodoooooodoooo

  • @JaciTheBear187 you got that right.

  • omg...i am so glad i am a child of the 70's!!!!

  • For some strange reason, I remember this as a child. My two favs were Pinwheel (on nickelodeon) and Sesame Street ( go Big Bird and Oscar!).

  • what is going on in this video. i am confused and scared

  • Taught my 14 year-old this song a long time ago...we just watched it together. This is great, need to download it and bump this in my car when I'm dropping her off at school!

  • Abby says..........."I Love it!"

  • you got my # thats the jam BITCH!!!

  • Absolute classic. 30 years later and I still count to twelve like this, although not always aloud. Freaks out gen y kids in meetings.

  • No matter where it came from it is a timeless and brilliant piece educational television.

  • Wow, this is classic! Use to sit my babies down to this many, many years ago! Nice!

  • oh the memories.

I never really understood the point of this when I was young though. It's just so wacky!

And I imagine taking some acid to this would get you fuuuuucked up!

  • lol i remember this 22 years ago on the old tv way back in the days and me sitting in front of the tv in a daze watching this lol

  • Pointer sisters " Count Ball Song" to be precise

  • This is the Pointer Sisters singing the song, for all who are interested.

  • Wicked tune. Brilliant. I remember it word for word 35 years later. There is so little tv of this quality.

  • amen. I still sing the 1-12 riff now and then when I here a number count off. My son will count to 10, I add Eleven Twelve, (he's 3)

  • One of the coolest songs of all time..

  • family guy!!!!!

  • any idea who the musicans are on this?

  • The pointer sisters on vocals. It was composed by Walt Kraemer and arranged by Ed Bogas.

  • Nope. I only know it's The Pointer Sisters singing. We SHOULD know the musicians though. Equally as essential - if not more so. Oh, well.

  • @natazer LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....I might be sitting next to ya on that one!!!!!!

  • @natazer so true lol

  • @natazer my teeth hurt remembering the same thing - midwest thing?

  • Can't believe this is still around; I remember watching this as a kid -- basically one of the only things on for kids back then :)

  • When kids shows got the Sargent Pepper Acid trip look ,i didnt think it was right.

  • It's Sesame Street, although it certainly seems like an Electric Company type of thing (lol). The song is by Herbie Hancock + Pointer Sisters (vocals) along with various instrumental soloists. There are quite a few different variations on the "pinball song."

  • Everyone keeps saying this is electric company material but I never watched electric company and I remember it during sesame street.

  • What a acid trip lolol

  • This looks like Peter Max style

  • A dorm resident started singing this the other day and the song keeps returning to my mind.

  • wow cool

  • And I wonder why I am a little f-d up after this being one of my favorite shows as a kid lol, gotta love the 70's and the drugs the people in charge of children's programing were obviously taking :-)

  • This takes me back.

The Family Guy parody of thisw video is funny.

  • One two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve XD

  • Wow...I remember this, I loved it.

  • Just found out, courtesy of Google that it's the 40th (!!!!) anniversary of Sesame Street today.

I'm from the UK but still loved/love the programme

    and especially this song.

    AND STILL DO

  • Ohhh sweet nostalgia! Awesome.

  • sorry for the Double post. just wanted to say nice edit, and thanks for posting!

  • well, I looked it up (and cross checked). and it's from Sesame street. Somthing else interesting I found out.:

it's the POINTER SISTERS doing the vocals!

  • elmo is a stinky but booooo

  • It's Electric Company.....it was the last thing they played at the end of every episode!

  • damn got my memories going crazy with this one. Best sesame street video

  • ohhh, this was my favorite!

  • This is definitely Sesame Street in the good old days! Damn I feel old!

  • Learning was so funky back then!!! Thanks for the post

  • This was from The Electric Company. I watched this stuff all they way up through the 70's and partial 80's. Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby, & Rita Morena ('Hey You Guys!), were all regulars on the show. It brings back some good memories of Public television!

  • No, it was Sesame Street. It's "The Counting Song", sung by the Pointer Sisters. On the Sesame Street Soundtrack from the 70's

  • This was belong to Sesame Street i am lucky to be a kid during 80's

  • Was this The Electric Company, or Sesame Street? I'm from 1990, so I never saw this as a kid.

  • I drop this track into my set every once in awhile and there's usually more than a few people who remember it and smile.

  • lovin 1:33

  • The Pointer Sisiters, thanxx for teachin me,cause, I wuzn't hearin all dat other!!!

  • my all time fave lol, that funky bass and trippy graphics.niice posting.

  • Ever since the early 80's, I've always counted to 12 in this fashion. Thank you, Electric Company.

  • mee too!

  • This song takes me back. Sesame Street taught me how to read, write & count.

  • I havent seen this in 30 years! This was the jam back in the day

  • holy moley i havent seen that since like 1983, when i was just 5. i love that!!!! SWEET!

  • kinda reminds me of some ripping zappa jam, with all the odd pulses, lots of 5's + 7's. actually i wonder if the time signature was especially constructed formulaically (maybe not a word there...) with respect to the numbers being sung at any given time. fortunately i have other things to do then map out the time sig of the 11-12 song. :)
