  • Wow...this is one of THE best non fanboy videos explaining the difference! Well done!

  • @avlisk todays leds can compete with crts but crts still wins in tell oled tvs come out

  • tv is edge led and it jas a contrast ratio of 1:5000 and it shows perfect black in dark and bright rooms. it is 1 inch thick and has great motion control

  • hahaha every thing bad about lcd is fixed with the led back lit or edge back lit my

  • Interesting stuff considering I'm in the market...Not that I don't have a tv I have lots of tvs...I have a 30 year old Panasonic still working fine, a 20 year old Sony Yet my 50 inch Samsung DLP that I spent close to $3000 on a very few years ago is sitting like an over-sized paper weight in the front room. Time I get a new color wheel and likely replace the bulb, I'll be out hundreds easily. I really cannot believe that you neglected these color wheel issues. Is this "throw away" really GREEN?

  • First off plasma does not use a lot more then LCD now days they used too but if you compare a 42 inch Plasma with a 42 inch LCD the difference in power usage is not that big.

Second LCD does suffer from screen burn I have a 2011 model LCD from Sony with major screen burn.

The only downside to Plasma is the glass panel reflection in a light room but other then that a good Plasma screen like Panasonic which are the best ones is still far better then any LCD/LED on the market right now.

  • Damm you guys know more about tvs than you do about your country surroundings and math hahah pick up a book sometime losers...

  • i only prefer lcd's because it has no glare... plasmas are better in specification but if you have a well lit room, or even just a light in the room, you get a TON of reflection. closing the curtains solves that but you still notice glare... I HATE GLARE LOL

besides with the whole motion & contrast comparisons i think they both look great regardless that plasma is better with picture. I'd go for LCD.

  • Plasmas also use 8 timnes more electricity than LCD's and break usually within a year.

  • where do these people get the money to just review and unbox this stuff

  • LED has the best white levels. And OLED, beats all. It is so vibrant, that it doesn't need a backlight. Meaning it has superior black and white levels. The PS Vita will use it :D

  • I have the mitsu 70 inch dlp and have been satisfied with it for almost 3 years now. I have yet to replace a bulb and its 3d ready right out of the box. The only drawback I have found with the dlp is that it cant be wall mounted.

Also its great for gaming theres no burn in and even when I calibrated it for rock band the tv was dead on right from the start.

  • i rather get a plasma still

  • Coming from a CRT world, how does LED black levels compare with CRT?

  • I have and will only own lcd was once considering plasma ,once i got to the store to look at it i could see everything in front of it ,including all overhead lights reflecting in its glass screen.People with plasma love to brag about better blacks ,better colors, but to me due to reflection problems its unwatchable.

  • i have a 46 inch dlp tv i got it a while ago so it doesn't have the technology that new ones have. but what annoys me is that it has a reflective glare. do you know of anything that can reduce the glare ?

  • I think plasma consumes more energy the lcd.

  • just my opinion but im going to replace my panasonic lcd tv soon (i want bigger). and this thing is about 6 years old and the picture is just as good as day one. the bulb hours is up warning comes on when i turn it on but its been doing that for about a year and still gong strong. I know lcd's are good and I cant justify spending the extra cash for a plasma. .. just saying

  • hey joeydrunko!!! im gettin a mitsubishi dlp this weekend too, its $599 at bestbuy.com, plus taxes and shipping, where did you buy yours? it is 3-d ready, and seems to be an excellent buy, it is model# WD60638...im getting paid tomoro and would like to kno if you got yours yet, if so, how is it?

  • What about LED TVs?

  • @AestheticFlavor

LEDtv's are just LCD's that use LED's to either backlight or in slimmer models, edge light the screen, instead of standard cold cathode tubes.

Anyway, after reasearching for a long time on pixel response time, input lag, and a million other things, I went with a Mitsubishi DLP. Especially since I got a 60" for only $650 total. I was looking at a 40" Samsung LCD for the same price. I can't wait til it gets here!

    Anyway,

  • @JoeyDrunko:

I'm picking up a 46-inch Samsung (1080p/120Hz) LCD-TV, which I bought during black Friday, today at Sears. I wanted the LED version, but they sold out quick. And I'm not willing to pay the original $1,700.00 for it.

  • DLP Is Great For Movies. LCD Is Great For Gaming, HD Home Videos, Concert Blu-rays ect... I Have A Mitsubishi 73" And Love The Movie Quality & Obviously The Size. However, When Playing PS3, My INSIGNIA 52" LCD Is Better Because The Image Is Really Smooth & More Detailed. Which Is Awesome When Playing Games Such As "COD: World At War" Or "God Of War III" :)

  • my my sis has a 65 inch misubishi diamond. and she thinks her shit is better than my 40 inch lcd samsung with 80,000.1.HELL NO. its just bigger.

  • @SanchoCali completely agreed. Dlp's suck. You view em 1 inch to the side it goes completely black. What a piece of shit. And HD looks like crap on em.

  • Can someone help me!?!?

I am thinking about getting a 65 inch Mitsubishi DLP 1080p 3D TV for $1000. I only have a 27inch sdtv so I think it is time to upgrade. People say you need to replace bulbs on these tvs. How do you do this? Are they expensive? Is this a big deal breaker for most people? Is a do it yourself job or do you need to call a repair guy?

  • @LOLURCATS I have a 65" mitsubishi wd-65736. I have had it for a little over a year on the original bulb. The bulbs are only like $100, not a huge deal for the original price of the tv. There's a place in the side that it goes, easy.

The 3dc-1000 kit is what you'll need for 3-d. I just ordered mine from tigerdirect for $399. I would buy a Mits DLP tv again without even thinking about it. I am waiting for the laserview tv's to come down in price.

  • @LOLURCATS It's very easy to replace a bulb yourself.Look up the manual for your tv and it will give you a step by step guide on how to do this.I have a 50'' sony and the bulb was around $200

  • I own a Samsung 42" plasma and I game on it constantly. Have never had a problem with burn-in from a hud in a game. Then again, my tv is a newer model with built in burn in protection (pixel shift every 2 mins.) I also own a 22" lcd and it's true about the brightness being really good, but does suffer from very minor motion blur. I'm not sure if the blur gets worse when you increase tv size or not. My 22" is barely noticeable.

  • nvr heard of dlp b4..heard of crt, lcd, plasma and led with lcd backlight ..oled will be out soon..technology, sometimes its too hard to catch up..hahas

  • Hmm I think Ill stick with my CRT Panasonic and occasional use LCD video projector.

Other disadvantage with all flat screens is you cant place your loudspeakers behind the screen without loss of mid and high frequency.

  • DLP IS BETTER THEN ALL BY FAR. Dont buy LCD OR PLASMA.

  • Decent video but that stupid background music makes it harder to focus on what he's saying. Dumb editors trying to be cute.

  • So DLP is the closest to a CTR tv right, coz i was reluctant to upgrade to either plasma or LCD because of game issue, image burn and lag respectively so i guess my best bet would be DLP.

And how would those cinema style home projector compare to these 3 TV type?

  • Sorry, I'm sticking with DLP. They're immune to color degregation and it is all fixable. Try fixing an LCD or Plasma.

  • ima go wit hallofthealing i got a DLP i love it my a 55inch and like he said it is easy to fix

  • Plasma has the best picture. I own a Panasonic 50 " HDTV. I LOVE IT. The way I see it, it they stop making the Plasma TV and I get 5 to 7 years out of this one, I'll just buy an LED TV then. LCD will be a " Thing of the past" by then......LOL

  • plasmas have the best blacks..

plasmas suck they use to much energy and have problems and are more expensive.

  • Which is the best for HD gaming?

  • Plasma can have screen burn issues if you are playing games that have a stationary HUD, however they have the best and most accurate motion- so if you are playing games that require timing and accuracy- plasma is the best for that. LCD on the other hand does not burn as easily (nearly impossible) so for games w still images- LCD could be better. However they do have some motion lag. Alot of games have a motion calibration mode to get around this- or at least to help with lag. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks, helped alot!

  • @schaeferstv

new plasma tvs do not have burn in issues anymore, since they automatically refresh the image.

  • @schaeferstv My Plasma doesn't have burn in with video games, there is some MASSIVE image retention but my HUDs have yet to stay on my screen forever. However I'm looking at DLP TVs right now because 50 inch the living room isn't cutting it.

  • I work at Costco, and we sell both plasma and LCDs. The customers have a tendency to like the LCDs more simply because the picture is brighter, and there's no reflection off the screen in a well lit room. Plasma is the TRUE HD experience though. Especially in the dark, it gives you that in person like experience when you're watching sports. Pro Wrestling like WWE HD look incredible on a plasma.

  • You are so right! I just saw Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels on blu ray from this years Wrestlemania hooked up to my Plasma screen, and it is incredible.

  • Actually no they are not. Mitsubishi is the only manufacturer still building DLP rear projection tv's. Their smallest size is 60". There are older models that are smaller, however we are talking about about new tv's.

  • DLP's are available smaller than 60 in.

Hard to find them at this point:(

  • nice review guys keep it going
