Just did some minor calculations with the current COP and compared this program with it. Kerrigan would have scored around a 52.5, Bayul around a 46.9, Bonaly about 50.2, Lu a 45.5.

Yes, Baiul had only 3 clean triples (with zero triple combos). I just watched it again after many years. I still can't believe that she won. I actually agree with your short program marks. My long program marks would have been:

Kerrigan- 5.8, 5.8 Baiul- 5.2, 5.5

after watching it this evening on universal's tribute to Bud Greenspan and knowing what happened in salt lake city with the judging scandal in figure skating, the fact that the german judge gave kerigan .10 less than Oksana, it make you really WONDER how many years that the bias for the former soviet bloc skaters has been going on.

Those two dresses are still the most beautiful skating dresses I have ever seen. It's a disgrace that she didn't win... Two clean triples winning over 5 (with a triple/triple)? I don't think so!

@Karosanyo In fairness, Baiul had 3 clean triples in the long, not 2, but still two fewer than Kerrigan. I think you really could say that Baiul's artistry was superior in the short program, but not necessarily in the long. Nancy stepped up hers a notch there, and Baiul's, while still beautiful, wasn't up to the standard of her short. The marks I would have given for each would be:

Short: Kerrigan--5.9, 5.8 Baiul--5.7, 5.9

Long: Kerrigan--5.9, 5.9 Baiul--5.6, 5.9

Nancy really triumphed, coming back from the knee-whack, and here she put together probably the best short and long programs of her career. She never really learned how to sell her programs, so as usual seems remote here, but I think this has to be her best competition. The Vera Wang dress really suits her, although it is not my favorite design that Vera ever did. Nancy earned a lot of respect here.

@mexicanafan She had a slight bobble on the first rotation of her last camel spin. Very minor though, not really worth noting. This program was frickin' brilliant.
