I changed these "inner layers" for 2 reasons. First is to keep the other layers clean so those outer layers can be reused for multiple days without getting too stinky. Second is to minimize the chance of friction that can occur as these inner layers get dirty. T-shirt, socks and underwear take up little room, but if you have to make cuts, I'd at least try to change socks daily since blistered feet are the worst!
@lorre007 i have never hiked this mountain but i did go to a wilderness camp and we hiked 10-15 miles everyday in the high desert. you dont have to change your socks every day really depends on the person. if you dry your socks every night by a fire you could use the same socks the whole time. some people are more prone to blisters than others. Like in my case i i hiked everday for three months and never got a single blister. but others got them ever hike, it all depends on the person
thanks

@LDGarber its not about how much room they take up its about the added weight. ive thing counts, every drop of water, every extra sock, everything.

each day a new T-shirt, socks and underwear? Isn't that overkill for a multiday hike?
