  • he's really good..unfortunately he didn't reacord as much as he deserves..I have 2 cds..80s sound oriented but very good records..

  • @jonesthecat00 I'd like to tell you that he recorded an album called "Plastic" in 2001. It's kinda different than his first 2 albums, but rocks as hard. You can so hear his improvements on this one. Some of these songs really have some kick-ass solos on them :) You should check it out!

  • how do u pronounce his last name?

  • @TrinityBloodRox

you should use your tongue the same way as LLOYD, or spanish LLAMAR a kind of italian GL but smoother then that..

  • This guy is fuckin talented technically, and musically!

  • Never heard of Tafolla before but oh my boy...isn't he play play beautiful..

I want to download this solo..can anyone help me on this..is this a songs solo or just he shredding it??????

  • Never heard of Tafolla before but oh my boy...isn't he play play beautiful..

I want to download this tune..can anyone help me on this..is this a songs solo or just he shredding it??????

  • sweet.

  • amazing, creative and so musical, I love this dude... I mean... you know what I mean

  • 0:21 - 1:01 Are the best minutes i wasted in my life... (sorry my bad english) xd

  • Wasn't this guy from Jag Panzer? ;O

  • Cb has its place. some key sigs it is wrong to call it B due to the scale makeup.look up some theory. Itll serve you well....

  • I'm sure he doesn't know about enharmonic's.

if that's over his head don't even bother with double sharps or flats you'll be arguing all day.

  • Do any one have tabs for this?

  • Phenomenal!

  • @ricbob yeah i know, but it's not proper to use Cb

  • there's no such thing as Cb

  • @botolami You're wrong.

  • @botolami "Utilizing E#/Fb or B#/Cb as written pitches serves well in music theory - an F chord is F A C. The same sound occurs when one writes it as E# A C, but the implication of that spelling is an Amin chord with a sharp 5th in the bass."

  • he says C #

  • Esta canción a que album pertenece? o donde puedo conseguirla en calidad MP3 entera?

  • I like all of his solo albums, but I like Out of the sun the most. He is a really nice and melodic player and I like his style very much. And yes, he reminds me of Jason Becker too. Open House is a perfect song and inspires me !

  • kinda of reminds me of jason beckers playing on some parts

  • Get you ass back in Jag Panzer!!!

  • i have the tabs!!! if someone wants them just let me know

  • Sent yuu a PM. I love this guys stuff, he makes killer sounds. Very nice bright but non fatuging tone, awsome stuff! Cheers, IC.

  • hello man ....please give me the tabs

  • I have Daniele Gottardo! lmao

  • c# is b

  • C# is C#. B is B

  • my bad i mean Cb is B

  • damn i need some tabs for the open strings arpegios... he is so freeking awesome... i recomend his solo album infra-blue... out of sun is also really good but the other one is more cool!!

  • So good.

  • Masterpiece!

  • Beautiful!

  • He should have been a household name for all guitarist very very underated guitarist and composer!!!!!!! One of the true great shredders met him at Git in the 80s .Hellava nice guy also!!!!!!! YOU go big J

  • @jittboy1 we already have a steve via.the Dorian scale has been used to death already

  • @jittboy1 yeah i was at GIT in 92-93 and he came thru for one on one and seminar.. GREAT DUDE...he was more interested in what the students were doing than in what he could rip on ( and he's a FIREY player with SOOOOO much character in his playing.. great vibrato for the style, too !"

  • The only thing is that I wish the song had a better ending.

    Otherwise it was amazing.

  • i have never heard of him before but he is really awesome!!!

  • the album was called infra blue

  • Did he die or something? =S I have never heard of this amazing guitarist before, and I haven't found any new material with him. Maybe i haven't looked hard enough! Please tell me.

  • Joey Tafolla played on 2 albums several years ago with Jag Panzer.

His solo albums are ¨Infra-Blue¨ which is really bluesy. My favorite is 'Out of the sun' - a real rock instrumental classic.

His newest album is called 'Plastic' but I don't have that one. Hope that helped.

  • He made a few solo albums as mentioned Out of the sun, Infra-blue and plastic are those which comes to mind. All are completely astounding. I've been a fan a long time and have also been wondering if he died. His homepage has said that it's Coming Soon since 2002(and I've been checking it a few times each year). I know he has some kind of commercial business now.. don't know anything more though...

  • this music is of which album?

  • i liked it !

  • Amazing Joey!!

  • really nice solo very different. may be the recording but for me could use a touch more gain

  • Joey Tafolla is Guitar 80`s He had play with Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker and Richie Kotzen. He was the band Jag Panzer 1984 to 1985. Actually He is Hardline

  • It seems that he knows a lot about music.

Look and listen how precise he explains what he's playing.

I've seen some REH videos and others just babble around and seem to be bored.

  • wow that is gorgeous sounding

  • that is the cuetest song ever yum ha ha.

  • Man he has some AWESOME tone, I do have to say! His use of pinching the string and incorporating the bar into regular note changes really gives his tone more life and character

  • Does somenone have the tab?

  • Everyone should watch my shitty cover and give it the 1 star rating it deserves

  • buenisismo este riff!!!. simplemente. BUENISIMO. Tafolla y Loureiro lo mejor

  • Like which bands has he played in?

  • He was in a Jag Panzer

    GREAT player

  • Who is this guy?

  • wow

  • Yeah, carvin guitar...nice one!...amazing guitarist too lol

  • i think govan sounds tafollaish...

  • This is beautiful.

  • talented man ....

  • I know him best by his work from the Jag Panzer "Ample Destruction" record from 1984. Great tunes. Those songs are on youtube.

  • What guitar is that? The Color is amazing. :D Never heard of him before.

But this in one of the beautifulst melodies i heard for a long time.

  • okay, it's a carvin.

  • a love the old guitar sound

  • what was this guy famous for? band? is he still around?

  • He is a great player. No doubt about that.

  • Is like a combination of Steve Vai and Petrucci style!

    (my opinion)

  • indeed it is

  • i agree...

  • what band is he from?

  • He was a master shredder in late 80 ´. Play in "Jag Panzer" from 1984 to 1985. He is a brilliant musician . Listen to "plastic" and Infra blue". Enjoy it.

  • what's wrong with the tone :( its crystal clear

  • Damn, melodies are great but the tone is weak.

  • man the tone is probley for the song spesifically and it is recorded in the early 90s

  • His playing definitely makes up for it, but really. Imagine him with a Mark IV (rec boards) dualed with a Triamp MKII and a better reverb.

    That would be epic.

  • thats probably cuz of the weak strings, that sound slightly out of tune due of not much tension.

  • No I think it's his amp.

  • but he plays out of tune anyways :D

  • he is an amazing guitarist, but i don't like at all his carvin tone :S

  • I would have the tab...

  • beautiful

  • joey tafolla is a good guitar player, he have a good technique

  • awesome ...amazing and unique phrasing

  • cool.. but I found myself distracted with his hair being all over the strings and shite...otherwise really cool

  • Snitcher!

  • your ear is so fucked m8

  • You think so cause he is playing slower in the later phases. Try and hear it again.

  • its you

  • his phrasing is really cool. nice vid

  • He is good, and melodic, but I couldnt call this a lesson, as such, as he didnt explain anything behind what he was doing... I mean, he could have broken it down into super-imposed triads, arpeggios, etc, instead of just - Im jamming in C# Minor kinda thing!

  • It´s a video with a booklet, you shouldn´t expect the tabs on youtube man...

  • LOL, I dont want to play this anyway - itz his song, Id rather do my own, but I was just saying that he didnt really break down what he was doing enoguh for it to qualify as a Lesson per se...

  • any one know where there is tab for this excellent playing, love it loads

  • download his pdf file of the instructional. emule torrents;)

  • all you cocksuckers that are bad mouthing about the way he picks and plays all yall suck fucking dick's yall bitches dont have the feel to play guitar that song is a fucking master piece id like to c u fucking faggots play this shit you dumb sona of bitches joey taffolla dont wory i got ur back motha fucker so u keep writing and ill keep talking shit to all those stupid cunt ass chicken cocks cock juggling thundercunt 3000 piece pricks

  • You're awesome.

  • HostelKillers and Joey Tafolla ftw

  • "If a man throws a trash can out the window and gets the sound he wants, he has perfect technique" - JoJo Mayer :D

    I love quotes xD

  • hmm i didnt quite get that LOL slower plz xDD

  • wow. he's good. but in my opinion, he shouldn't do the fast muted striplet stuff. it sounds to metally. but he has a good sense of harmonies if you can put it that way.

  • dont you think that he is keeping his right elbow to high? he plays very good but something about picking looks weird..

  • On his latest album, this happens a lot because he uses these synthy backings through the whole thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like his new album was made on a PC with midi controlled instruments or something. But it is still good. A lot of guitarists would sound like crap because their ear wont pick up on it and correct it at all.

  • Is it only me or does his guitar sounds like it's out of tune?

  • its only you...

  • You are probably hearing the guitar vibrating differently whereas the backing is not humanized at all. Notes on the guitar will not stay in perfect pitch, even just touching the string too hard and picking makes it a little off momentarily. Just look at your tuner when you first strike the string. And using open strings allows this to happen longer of course because there is no way to ear control/bend. Sometimes I notice this in songs, sometimes I don't. This time I don't so much.

  • At times it is, yes. It becomes really obvious when you play with a keyboardist. Plus, most rock guitar finger vibrato is "wrong" in that is is always sharp, when it should really be "around" the note both flat and sharp, like violin vibrato. An age old problem with guitar, it is an imperfect instrument that makes you go out of your way to compensate.

  • nice

  • sick skills!

  • His picking licks + string skipping is quite PG like, don't you think?

  • sure he was a paul student... :)

  • is there tabs for any of this? this guy is insane!!

  • he bends his picking hand like a pansey

  • too bad he pwns you regardless

  • The only bad technique is one that makes a bas sound. If is sounds great, who cares about his wrist? Can you HEAR a wrist?

  • and shawn lane was fat, who cares? they are awesome thats all that matters :)

  • When you start playing guitar you learn how to pick and the right way to do it, using a correct picking technique will improve the tone and will avoid a tired hand. He is a great guitar player! i really dont thing that thats the way that he always do it, trying to sweep in that position would be almost impossible. But is really important to assume a correct picking position

  • he was probably self taught for a few years

its hard to suddenly change the way you play

there isnt really a correct way of picking

what maybe conferable for some may be unconferable, in way this is good because if every one picked like ex.Paul Gilbert every one would sound like clones. look at Marty Friedman's picking its strange only old school jazz player(a few) have picked like that but hey he sounds great

  • :42 to :51 is great... alot like Vito Bratta

  • damn i need a new guitar, i got some shitty strat, and im trying to play this+ the sublime sounds of pual gilbert, the sound just isn't up to scratch ya know

  • it's not only the guitar

you need a tube amp so sound like this...

a good guitar and a good tube amp.

maybe one of those racks that these people use..

  • tone is too much like satriani,it would sound more original,if u change your sound,

  • Outstanding!!!!!!

  • this was kinda odd and unique!

    =] and i like that

  • Anyone know which guitar he's playing here?? Looks/sounds like a parker fly deluxe abit? I don't think it is though

  • looks like an early 90's Carvin DC127/??? not sure about the model #.

  • he's a carvin fan

  • GENIOUS!!!!!!!

  • lmfao @ the spelling

  • amazing phrases!!!awesome!!!

  • Joey is great!!.. The Infra Blue album is super!!...

  • Tony MacAlpine and Paul Gilbert both spent time with him on shred and melody, songwriting, etc. I think he did well at not sounding like one or the other (expect of course on Out of the Sun he sounded too much like them).

  • This is what I am talking about: melody and TASTES to balance speed. A monkey can be taught to play faster than you, but dong so with good tastes, that's diffrent.

  • the "taste to speed" thing you talk about in this video is known by many as "Fusion"

look it up, it's amazing, i'd say start with guthrie govan if you like this song

  • matias kupiainen totally has this style...tafolla and kupiainen are geniuses!

  • nice!! 'Out of the sun' is a great album from joey! check it out if you havent heard it.

  • great melodic solo!

  • some tasty licks in there.

  • hes SO much easier to listen to than the gilberts

  • was gilbert not joey's teacher? im sure i read that years ago.

  • doesnt matter really, kirkhammet studied with joe satriani n hammet is pretty lame out of the context of metallica

  • i never really got into metallica, i remember all these guy's from the 80's, taffola,,howe,,gilbert,,becker,,friedman, they were all brilliant, i think it was guitar masters the album was called, i was very young when i first heard these guy's, i must have played that album like 200 times, still cant play like any of them.lol

  • this guy use to be paul gilbert student ?

  • Go Joey-open'em up brudda

  • I had to write again..this is truly brilliant...a total mastery of the instrument.
