  • better then kris

  • God my Daddy drove me nuts growing up listening to this. and then my friends and I were lost in Texas and ended up at Billy Bob's one night and guess who the hell was playing!! And it was SUCH a rocking good time - called my Dad collect from the show lol

  • Also went to see the musical "The Million Dollar Quartet", he was the star in that too, even though it wasn't him.

  • this guy is crazy mad sick good ;)

  • Excellent!

  • The man is brilliant.

  • simply nice

  • The killer, I was born in 42 so I have seen the best and worst of Jerry, his worst were his 60's attempts with 'Money' and all that crap then he rediscovered his roots and so did a crowd of others , seen him live lately, still rocking still pleasing, still living, thanks Jerry.

  • Hang on, kiddies - this is what's Rock and Roll. Jerry Lee will always be The Killer.

  • Oh my god! This version is fantastic! Never heard much JLL, but this I will play over and over and over again!

  • 38 morons who don`t like!

  • wizard fingers, he sometimes played too fast for his band, particularly the drummer goning like the clappers tryin to keep up. but wonderful.

  • @billyg864 he's awesome but I think he follows the drummer and the bass player. They speed up most songs on purpose but the drummer sets the pace. This is the best concert I've ever seen :)

  • @ianwilson2007 No, the drummer is a tad behind. On the breaks and middle eight. Jerry plays like an express train, you can feel the drummer and base trying to pour it on, you can almost feel their fingers and arms getting cramp.

  • @billyg864 there is no middle eight in this

  • no one is as brilliant as this . no one even comes close

  • The meanest mother fucker that ever shat thru a meat ass

  • Jerry kicked this tune into The city of New Orlean for Willie Nelson.

  • Спасибо, Джерри Ли!!!!

  • One of the best songs ever made, and his version of it is a masterpiece!

  • the best version of this song ever done!

  • @wiffley

it is.... but there is another version where there is an echo on his voice which is ace also

  • @wiffley .....The badest mother that ever lived....

  • genius

  • Pistol Hot Killa back talkin, walkin them cold keys to Hell and back !

  • fantastique

  • Enorme.

  • Good enough for me.. Good enough Jerry Lee and Bobby Mcgee! i like that..

  • never seen anyone play piano so damn easily

  • FAst train

  • "The Killer" could do this song (as well as others) five different ways to Sunday...his band was never quite sure where he was going and for how long he would play...a sometimes out of control entertainer....what a joy to see him live.

  • O melhor pianista da história do rock até o presente momento. Sem sombras de dúvidas.

  • @Tadhq64.

    I read your comment ,

I'm not sure on it .

    You are free to go

    to hell or so ,

    but if you drink and drive;

the Devil will give you such a punch in the throat !!!

    You'll reget it .

  • This song has been covered so well by many artists and groups such as Kris, Waylon, Roger Miller, Charley Pride, the Grateful Dead, and grudgingly, yes even Pink, just to name a handful. But outside of Janis' studio recorded version, this rendition has to be the best! It's a Killer!

  • THIS is the King of rock'n'roll. No doubt about that.

  • lady gaga cant sing live and has to lip sinc just like madonna

  • Unbelievable! He plays piano like the easiest thing in the world.

  • HOly Christ, this demonic hellfire trying to save itself and failing miserably and wanton gloriously. This makes me want to go to hell and drink and drive on the way down there.

  • Jerry Lee Is the best ever

  • I met Jerry and the Memphis Beats on this tour at Blighty's night club in Farnworth near Bolton and partied with them afterwards at their hotel in Bolton. And boy, could they party!!!

  • The best !

  • Nobody ever sang or played this song any better!

  • Janis (and her "HIPpie" peers) only wished they coulda rocked this hard!!! Long Live REAL Rock N Roll and the guys who made it!!!!

  • That sumabitch can sure play the piano!

  • @texaskelly - I'll have you know that you should captolize 'SUMABITCH' when you address Mr. Lewsi, might wanna smile too!

    ROFL!

BUT, HE SHO CAN PLAY, I CONCUR, TEX!

  • everytime i listen to his music I feel in need to play piano myself.

And everytime I play the piano myself after listening to his music I have so much fun but after a little while I find myself beeing not even good enough to impress my parents anymore.

Than I return to listen to him and the circle begins another time.

=> => his music is so motivating :)

  • Hmmm i dont like this ... It's janis song :)

  • genialny , nie do podrobienia

  • How could anyone dislike this!

  • I Love it when the Drummer starts to Play

  • Kris may have wrote it, but JLL took to the limit..

  • chris christorferson write this song

  • He is inspirational!

  • Who wrote this song?

  • Comment removed

  • He even has a comb in his back pocket!!! He's totally OLD SCHOOL!!

God bless Jerry Lee! The last man standing!

  • Like all songs...he marked it....no one will match JLL...or EP.....who is that cute drummer..

  • jerry lee is full of him self

  • @61520a and you're full of shit.

  • jerry lee is the true "KING OF ROCK N' ROLL" !!!!

  • @jameskimcook u ignorant fuck

  • @SuperTonyash someone is a little childish

  • @jameskimcook why am i childish????? u have real shitty ideals in my opinion.

  • this guy got hitched to his 13 year old cousin! not so cool now aye!

  • horrible! one of the saddest country songs just turned into a ball room blitz...

  • THX

  • -medley* of Lewis + Elmore James

    see you tube

Shake Your Money Maker - Elmore James cover

  • Jerry Lee didn't steal her song a little history lesson for you Roger Miller was the one who first recorded Me and Bobby McGee and had a top 10 hit with it and it was written for him not Janis Joplin. If she had not recorded it and then died you would never have heard of her most likely.

  • @MrLonesomeJohn Checked it out and you know your history, he did a good job. Although they say no 12 in the charts, only ever associated Roger Miller with King of the Road. Many thanks.

  • is that GOD on the piano

  • jerry lee lewis is a dick. First he is a complete ass to Janis Joplin and then he steals her song. Oh well. At least he did a horrible job.

  • @vieniebebe Kristofferson wrote it. Technically, she stole it.

  • He is great. The Last Man Standing. I did get to see him and Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins in person but not Elvis. Memphis was a cradle for talent in the mid 1950s.

  • the killer

  • Thanks for this wonderful post.....I love your channel-this version of Bobby M.lifts me out of a bad day mood-MAGIC MAGIC PIANO PLAYING!!!!!!

  • Im not a dancer, but on this tune I just had to boogie down.

  • Straordinaria padronanza del pianoforte !!!

  • great rock &roll thanks for posting. i could listen to this all day wide open on the volume

  • It doesn't feel right for anyone but Kris to sing this song anymore.

  • A good singer from the UK who has southern influences got rejected from BGT have a listen and see what you think! just search britains got talent reject dave lennard. Thanks.

  • to gbixer: lets hear u sing,oh yea, and play.

  • Jerry Rocks! (And with allotta soul) Go Jerry GO!

  • Unfortunately ,Jerry Lee couldn't sing his way out of a wet paper bag. If he''d kept his mouth shut and just played the piano he may have been considered great.

  • @gbixer

He's a piano player first, singer second. He doesn't sing all that bad. He already is considered great.

    Simple as that.

  • @gbixer I'd like to place a wet paper bag over your head and then beat it with a claw hammer.

  • :))

  • The lady gaga listeners should get back to their knitting. russmerrick88 you have the man on toast. His Bobby McGee was pretty good to listen to, Aus misses out on a lot of the classic old 55 boys, yet there are heaps of us here that would go to every show. You don't say which live ones you've seen. Lucky man . Graham Melb Aus

  • Love it .

  • THE KILLER IN HIS PRIME..JUST AWESOME..THANK YOU

  • Yeah!

  • Of all of Jerry's performances over 60 years I've seen either live or on tape, Hammersmith '83 is my favourite. Everything just seems right - Jerry's mood, his voice, the piano, the sound, the venue, the band, the song choices....and Bobby McGee sums it all up. Incredible. Just wish CBS would release this performance on DVD so I don't have to hook up the VHS everytime I want to watch it!

  • @russmerrick88 Agree totally, have seen him in concert many times, but to have been there must have been something!

  • @wookyhollow Alas, I was too young to be at the '83 tour (12 at the time) but still rate it as one of his finest performances. I'm also really enjoying watching the Memphis Holiday Inn performances from '69. His rendition of 'Ubangi Stomp' is incredible, and his cocky demeanour during 'Money' is awesome. What are your favourite JLL performances?

  • @russmerrick88 I saw Jerry for the first time in Toronto, April 19, 1984 -my twentieth birthday. He was in fantastic form! Still the best concert I've ever seen. He leapt over the piano stool a number of times and was all over the stage, with Kenny and company trying to keep up. He closed with a 15 minute medley concluding with Meat Man and stalked offstage with 1000 people screaming for more... that's rock and roll, brotha!!!

  • Thank you for posting my favorite song of one of the greatest performers at all times.

This song makes my body jump and boogie :)

  • JLL TOOK ALL THE GOOD ONES AND MADE THEM HIS VERY CRAZY OWN ..BLOODY AWESOME

  • Very Lively and Unique....I guess that is true of Jerry Lee Lewis generally.

  • jerry knows the real thing ain't in that bottle

  • How right you are everhard - Great but not R & R - Graham from Melbourne Aus

  • Better than the original (Kris Kristoferson)...your choice if you want the Janis version, but I prefer this.

  • Great, he was the first Punk ever

  • im english and ive got to say he's the original punk!

  • Absolument ratée, cette version : Lewis n'a pas saisi le rythme et la justesse de cette road song.... Mauvais débit, mauvaise prononciation. Du bruit ! C'est un massacre.

    Cacophonie... Narcissisme pianistique...

  • it's great but still it's not a RnRoll song !!!!

  • kinelfire, clasicccccccccccccc. END OF CHAT......

  • Now THATS how a piano is supposed to be played:)

  • wow!!!! anyone who doesn't start dancing when listening to that needs psychiatric treatment - he's the best! thanks.

  • Hey, thanks for information on this video. You just don't see enough info on Youtube.

  • @lucasoptura You're welcome. :)

  • And to this day... he's still waiting for that Coca Cola...

  • Well, we saw Jerry Lee back in the 80's with Fats Domino. Jerry was so stoned, or drunk, he couldn't finish his part of the show. So, Fats came out and did an extra long segment to make up. Now, having said that, he is (or was) an immensely entertaining performer. Too bad his demons took over!

  • Son are you out of your mind ? Demons be damned he was and still is the best going,,,,Why do you think he was the first entertainer taken into the House of Rock in Roll Fame....Simple he was and still is the greatest..........Ev _jr

  • it is called rock and roll boys

  • Nice line: good enough for Jerry Lee and Bobby Mc Gee!

  • Kris Kristoffesron wrote the song in the 60's, what are you talking about '58???????????? Please tell me something i don't know??

  • Woah there, woah. England LOVES Jerry Lee. I am an Englishman and I am not alone in stating that he was, is and always will be the KING. Rock n roll will always own him a huge debt of gratitude. MAGNIFICENT talent of a loner who rocks on the wild side. I am privileged to have heard his music and I thank him, and the USA for that.

    Out

  • man i love this concert. crazy arms is my favourite from this concert. when the camera goes over the keys it just looks awesome.

  • little richard will never out perform the killer, anyone beside little richard keep a knockin is best song little richard has. i want to here otherwise from anyone.

  • @bomkc Did u know why Little Richard hadn't sold a lot more records than Jerry Lee, mate..? because racist faggots back in the 40s-50s, ignored him..but when Little Jerry Lee came hopping about, dancing and sounding like a "nigger" he was accepted because his skin wasn't black...I wished little richard was Australian..

  • @kidistfan1 oh my goodness are you really that much of a no lif loser that you have to spam on every jerry lee song?

  • @kidistfan1 little richard is a back in the day michael jackson thats all

  • @kidistfan1 i never said i didnt like little richard. he cant sing though. jerry lee can sing if someone thinks little richard can outsing jerr lee i want to know

  • @bomkc Wow..Are u foreal man?...So ure saying now little Richard doesn't have a voice.....Just compare little Richards voice to Jerry Lee...youtube and watch them both...Jerry Lees the one Trying to sound like Little Richard.. The video will Speak for its self mate..

  • @kidistfan1 they're both excellent!

  • @kidistfan1 open your ears, son. JLL never tried to sound like Little Richard. Lewis NEVER screams, his piano playing is ten times better.

  • @bomkc He had a lot more songs than"keep a knockin"..if you would've gave him a chance and bought his record, you would've found a lot more songs that u probably would've been obsessed with mate...but No u didn't give him a chance did u..? U came running to Jerry Lewis when u heard he was white but somehow sings and dances like the nigger u ignored..? i'm sure that was all it took...Sad little fuckers u all Americans are...

  • Absolute Showman!!!!!!! Love how he winds it up at 1.20 The Killer indeed !

  • craaaaazyyyyy!!!!!:b

  • Little Richard with all the other Blues Greats who are so Underated here in America Were the TRUE KINGS OF ROCK N ROLL...no if's or but's about it...Elvis is overrated as Hell..80% of his songs are taken from all of those BLACK artists who never got their Due ...even Jerry Lee Lewis sounds Black & even moves like Little Richard(who i believe would put Jerry Lee to shame)..but Unfortunately he ended up getting more fame, & even more views on youtube... Sad this is the America we still live in:(

  • @kidistfan1 i think if you think little richard is goin out play jerry lee you have another think coming cuz thats not happening.. look at then number of record sold jerry lee has over lit

  • @bomkc _He really would've been appreciated a lot more, and would not be judged by what his skin looked like..u Americans don't know how to appreciate shit..you have all these Greats who were the forfathers of Rock N Roll, and to this day you still ignore them..U people don't deserve shit..they should've moved out a long time ago and changed their Citizenship..
