@kalinzxgor3 Oh if only you could spell sopranos...I do agree though, this song if a very good alto song. I am studying theatre and dance. I can sing alto, mezzo soprano/belter and soprano. There are quite a few great alto songs out there if you care enough to track them down. Some examples are I Don't Know how to Love him from Jesus Christ Superstar, I'm not that Girl from Wicked, Honey Bun from South Pacific. I could go on but I only have 500 characters to do this in.
She may have better tone quality, power in her belt, etc, but it seems as though it is just a powerful voice singing a song, not a realistic or relatable emotion being conveyed. I like a Nancy that puts the words of the song to work before her vibratto.
This is Sonia Swaby, who played "Nancy" in Cameron Mackintosh's first production of the current London revival, which played at the Palladium from 1994-1998. Sonia played "Nancy" in 1997-1998. Ruthie Henshall played "Nancy" in 1996. Sally Dexter was the original "Nancy" in this production. Swaby performed the role on tour as well.
never really thought sonia looked right for nancy but by hell can she sing this song well!!!!! brilliant.....still better as grizabella in cats though.
hey mr. producer is a great buy. i spend hours watching it over and over again. incredible performances and performers. the performance of "as long as he needs me" by sonia swaby is my personal favorite performance. (: also, if you like, check out the performance of "being alive" by bernadette peters. it blew me away.
Are you serious?? Is Sonia a teacher or something? Tell me more about her if you can, would love to know ..can only get limited info on her. I saw her as Nancy in 1998 at the Palladium in oliver.
@IdolsDemiSelena OMG need to talk to you!!,please get back in touch with me,i was at college with Sonia(Laine Theatre Arts) she was one of my best friends and i would dearly love to get back in touch with her,my name is Benji,if you mention m to her she will know who i am,i love her to bits...
