  • did you use an SAFC?

  • rb20 lovely motor is capable of around 500hp ish stock int

sr20 is capable of around 400hp+ stock int!!! sr20 weak my ass... theres a vid on here of a 1200hp sr20 drag car! there make 600-900hp+ all day every day, as will the rb20

the SR20 is a different animal to the rb but AS GOOD is its own way!

  • You obviously don't know a thing about Nissan turbo motors. I've owned an SR, and currently own a CA18 and RB20. The SR can't handle quite as much on a stock bottom end, uses a weaker Aluminum block instead of Iron, and it's low-rent rockerarm valvetrain is a known weak point. Not only that, because of fanbois like you, they are hugely overpriced.

I can get a complete RB20 block here in Canada for $500, and CA parts are even cheaper as the USDM Nissan Pulsar uses an N/A version of it.

  • Get me a Rb20 for 500 bucks.

  • Would it be safe to run 12-13 psi for daily driving with just an aftermarket intake and exhaust?

  • depends on were you live, i would get a FMIC first though cause you may have real high IAT;s

  • its wierd taht you guys think the rb20 is a 400hp stock internals type of engine...its not. dont get it twisted...i drive a very well tuned r32 gts-t...and I can tell you that anything over 300 is not safe on stock internals...but u guys can claim whatever u like

  • they only like it because its an rb...

  • its okay that people like the RB motors...they are great...even the RB20 makes some pretty damn good power and sound ( i think ) much better than an SR20 for example...its got a much better sound and is way more torquey.

  • you can make closer to 500whp on stock bottom end.

but arp headstuds and metal headgasket is a must.

  • I also own a tuned HCR32, and I can assure you the RB20 can handle 400bhp on the stock block with proper tuning. Seeing as you own an R32 and live in Canada, I'm assuming you are familiar with GTRC? If so, you can easily find numerous threads regarding the RB20s max output on stock internals, which you may find helpful.

  • Nice Swap. Check out my videos on a 240sx rb20 running economy tune. Me driving.

  • How much did it make? the most reliable motor is the RB20DET or RB25DET. if you use a Z32 MAF with 750cc injectors and a bigger cam, running 14-17 pis on the turbo you can make around 500 rwhp. thats just about wht im running in my 1990 skyline RB20DET.

  • very nice 240 how much in all have you put in it including maintenance and the engine swap?

  • new dyno vid coming soon mods: full 3 inch turbo back, front mount intercooler, apexi neo, walbro fuel pump

  • There you go.... it will sound a lot better, and the turbo can stay cooler running the FMIC.

  • Ok, RB20DET: HP-210 Stock RB25DET: HP-245 Stock

RB20DET with 207? That has to have some wear. While your at the dyno get it tuned and checked for problems. Easy HP gain tips. Front mount intercooler... 3` 10hp Gain. Raise boost to 12 pounds from stock, thats 40HP gain... rated for every 1 psi is 10 HP. Stock is 8 pounds on RB20. 3 inch no cat 4 inch apexi turbo muffler is 5 to 10 hp gain. Stand alone AEM engine management with a proper tune is 30 hp. Looking at 290, almost 300 wheel HP

  • 207 to wheels 227 at the crank

  • WOW, you remind me of someone who looks up specs and says they know about cars. First off, those are estimates, and are at the crank. The hp varies from where you measure it from, clutch, wheels, crank, etc. And when you talk about parts and how much hp they add, that is stupid, because not every FMIC or Exaust puts out an approximate amount, thats why there are different brands. And also you don't get the full potential of a car all the time, thats why they have ECU's.

  • Lol, ok... instead of arguing... those numbers are not incorrect. And i sound like i know what i'm talking about because i do. I own and build the nissan J-Spec engines.... And those are not good numbers for that build. And instead of giving me insight. Give this guy insight on the things he can do to get better numbers. No once did i knock his car.

  • Great idea to bump the stock boost up to 12lbs on a ceramic bladed turbo. Shrapnel FTMFW

  • the rb20det stock ceramic turbo can handle 14pounds of boost safely. i wouldnt go any higher though. mine has handled it for 3 years now...

  • i just got my 89 240sx . and i wanna decide what engine is best and escially MOST REALIABLE . the RB20DET,RB25DET or SR20DET .

  • i'd personally do the swap with the rb25det but that's just me, as for reliability i know a guy with a sr20det and he beats the hell out of it daily 12 months a year to this day and its still going, that being said theyre all pretty reliable depending on what your long term goals are with them.

  • @Bobbybeldo you copied and pasted this form a forum...... i just read this.

  • badass car im hoping your gona go for lots more power cus the easy and cheap and light sr can do that np however when you look for 300 whp i could understand the difference in power band and reliability

lol i talk as if i know stuff

  • perfectly normal hp numbers...i made the same on stock side mount intercooler. 6.5lbs of boost and 235 to the rear wheels you say? impossible. The thing comes from the factory higher than that. you dont even have friends i bet lol

  • looks like good times! keep us updated!

  • dude my friend has an s13 rb 20 swap and he has it at 6.5 psi of boost and is running 235 at the wheels something is wrong with your numbers buddy or you did somethign wrong

  • sounds to me like "your friend"'s setup is surprisingly high...good tune, etc.

or he just plain lied about how much boost there was.

  • NOT EVERY ENGINE PUTS OUT THE SAME NUMBERS! DAMN YOU PEOPLE ARE STUPID! you also dont have the exact same setups. if he wanted to, he could probably run on 20lbs of boost and fuck the internals like you kids, but hes not a dumbass.

  • he couldnt run 20lbs of boost. the turbo fails at that pressure. next the internals can run 400hp, not super reliable be enough. all you need is pistons for like 500hp.

  • 207 to the wheels would be more like 245hp crank. Its only a 2 liter, so that is some pretty good power for the size.

You have stock turbo? How responsive is it? I am thinking about RB20DET for my 240z.

  • rb25 turbo and it wasnt tuned, this was like 2 years ago just never posted the video, i have a front mount now and soon to get a super afc so i can tune it..

  • why is the power so low?

  • hard swap???

  • nice what kind of mount kit are you using?

  • r32 crosmember
