  • this song always runs through my head when I look at the picture of my brother hanging on our wall...he was nineteen when he died. :( wars sucks!

  • first time i heard the song i cried.

  • its really sad... that no matter what u call yourself, irish, german, scottish, american, british, no matter what, and no matter how smart we think we are. In the thousands of years and how far we've advanced.. we still cant find one single way to stop killing each other. Dropkick Murphys.. good song!!!

  • Amazing, great job!

  • brilliant song

what a waste of life there is no glory in killing and dieing

  • And we are coming full circle again into another global conflict brought on by human greed. We need to stop the cycle of conflict and find peaceful ways to settle things. The people need to unite across the world and prevent those who control our lives from manipulating us into yet another tragedy. The trenches solved nothing.

  • Its been 100 years since the Great War and all we have learned how to do since then is make stronger killing technologies............ RIP all soldiers and civilians who have died in wars we will remember you for years to come.War it will never change......(sigh)

  • wow

  • When the hell did this get 11k views? Olawdy.

  • @BCRichShredder

Well it doubled in a month now ^^

  • @XDiamondManX Holyshit. Wutduhfuuuuuuuhk. This is crazy. This is the only video I have to pass 5k views. I think.

  • @mcsachsenhausen , you are irish????

i don´t beleve that, your name sounds like a stupid german word.

and if you really irish, and you could not live with wanna be irish people, go dying, than you havn´t this problem any more.

  • @rsskm of course im irish! yes i live in germany (well done) my 3 year old is more mature than you.

  • i hate dropkick murphys they are american pretending to be irish !!!! drives me crazy!!! if you are american (born in usa)be proud to be american NOT irish!!! im irish(born in ireland)so im irish i dont pretend to be someone im not!!!!!hate wannabe irish people!!!!i dont care if your mothers cousins cat was irish that does NOT make u irish!

  • @mcsachsenhausen If you visited a foreign country would you cease to be Irish? What if you decided to live somewhere else? All American blood is foreign. We tend to categorize ourselves as German-American, Mexican-American, African-American, Anglo-American, Irish-American etc. Don't you know how many people of Irish ancestry reside in America and England? Like it or not, we are connected.

  • @INbredMonarchy i live in germany(that does not make me german)my parents are from kerry and limerick but i was born in dublin and raised there(so i am not from kerry/limerick)i am a dub)even tho my parents and their parents and their parents are all from kerry/limerick does not make me from kerry/limerick ! do u understand what i am trying to say???just because my name is a kerry name does not make me a kerrywoman(i find it very insulting)you should be proud where YOU are born(nobody else!!!)

  • @mcsachsenhausen I think I do understand what it is you are trying to tell me, but I'm just trying to explain how we Americans identify ourselves. To be "American" doesn't mean a whole lot because we hear(for example) Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese people say that simultaneously. So to erase some confusion we use sub-categories to further define ourselves. I think these situations are more prevalent in the U.S. and the U.K. where so many people are of foreign origin.

  • is this Adolf Hitler below the cross at 1:12?

  • @nennmichJ Yes, I belie

ve so, guy on the bottom row sitting down far left.

  • @nennmichJ yea he is.

  • @nennmichJ yes he is !

  • @nennmichJ i dont want to live on this planet anymore!!!

  • @nennmichJ he was in the german army in ww1...

  • @nennmichJ Yes it is. Surprised they would show that ass hat in a tribute to WWI regardless of who fought on which side.

  • Nobody thinks that the songs written mean anything but The Irish going to fight...And WE will..Believe what is seen happened..and the Hitler side does't mean crap... They fought and stll fight today for freedom from England...I guess England doesn't recognize the fact that people want to live free of religios persicution

  • @drtywteboy

It's because people wish to live free of religious persecution, to preserve our freedom, our civil and religious liberty, the Willy McBrides of this world fight and die to preserve just that. Better that Willy McBride died in France than returned home to murdered in his own country and have his killers elected as his government for the next half century! The moment anyone starts referring to 'England' and not Britain you know what they are. How can we be free of ourselves?

  • @drtywteboy I believe that young Willie McBride was an Ulster Volunteer, fighting for freedom from Dublin rule. Besides, the song was written by a Scots-Australian folk singer, not by an Irish nationalist.

  • @drtywteboy This song has nothing to do with Ireland,. It was written by a Scots Australian, Eric Bogle, as an anti-war song.

  • @hkeddieme i'm from scotland right, but i'd say there is a connection with ireland giving the fact that four william mcbrides died in world war one. one from scotland, three from ireland, one north, two south. this song can't be taken away from them with it being one of very few thing's the north and south can mourn together on. after more than 300 years of bad blood between them, unity is the key for peace, and this song gives them that.

  • @RFCmorgan

The song is mourning all those who died in WW1 (and all wars) , including of course the Irish, Scots, English, Germans, Turks, Australians, Austrians, Americans and all others on both sides. It is not, as some seem to think, specifically about the Irish, or Irish nationalism. There is no particular significance to the name being Wille McBryde, it was just one of the many names on gravestones in the war cemeteries visited by Eric Bogle..

  • there are two pictures of Hitler, one the first one his wwii photo, the second him as chancellor-- the picture appears just as the line in the song says "It all happened again" -- so fitting placement imo.

  • sori just listen to it

  • great but take the pew pew pew out...it's a kinda cheep prop

  • Sorry, let me clarify. There are 2 pictures of Hitler. About the 5th slide in is a picture of German soldiers in WWI. The soldier on the left with the "handlebar" mustache looks like a young Hitler. The 2nd picture is Hitler as the German Chancellor.

  • I also noticed the picture of Hitler. Hitler was a soldier in WWI. He was wounded by gas. He started WWII as the Chancellor of Germany.

  • War will be ever a big lie and a shame of mankind. Young men dying for only little ideals of politics, for a lie, for oil.......no blood for oil. No war will end all wars!!

  • theres a picture of hitler in there and this song is about ww1 and hitler was ww2. so im confused of why hes in here. but i love this song so much its sooooo sad though.

  • @davidarchuletakrazy That picture was taken in WWI when he was a lance corporal.

  • Cant wait to get to Afghanistan...nothing left for me here. I wanna go to war

  • this song brought me to tears....love it.......Really brings home the pointlessness of war....

  • why 2 dislikes??

  • red poppies are weeds that grew from the bomb shattered earth it was a symbol for peace which is why this is so interesting

  • @PAGS4747 thank you Mr Arbogast

  • awesome
