This song radiates throughout my soul. This is so beautiful....and moving. One of the most beautiful songs sung by very talented people........and I can only imagine how the other poster must feel who recalls their old farm being sold...and gone. This is one of those songs that make you thankful you discovered it. My thanks to LL and her band.
This song touches my soul after leaving my families farm, seeing it split sold and removed from me. it will always be my home place even if I am gone from there. The ghosts of my family still warm the hills and valleys their spirit will never leave or be sold.
A sweet voice with a sweet song. I first heard this on WWUH out of Hartford, when I still lived near there. Loved it then, still do. Laurie's other big one is "Texas BlueBonnets."
I have seen and heard LL do this great song and people are spellbound when she sings this great tune that is done in the key of B (1-4-5 mostly with a lot of 2m's and a 3m7 in the intro ).
Wow..I don't know how you made it through the entire song at a funeral.
I want to put this song to a video of my grandparents but I don't think my family could watch it. I have pics of my papa's last footsteps in his garden & these words seem to say what my heart feels about the pics.
My sister and I just sang this song at our uncle Ed's funeral. He still lived on the Homeplace. His tools and pictures of the farm were on the table with his cremains. It was so fitting to sing this song.
I'm like you ginger. My parents farm is without their presence after 40+ years now but I go there and stand in the barn and the house and keep them close to my heart. I cry too it's a sad song and life happens just like this.
I first heard this song on The Heartland Series. The video & the song go together beautifully. I cry every time..it reminds me of my Grandparents who farmed all of their lives & are now gone.
I have the original of this and was listening to it for the first time about 15-20 years ago as I was driving along a motorway. I tell you, Imy eyes filled up and I had a lump in my throat the the size of a golf ball. I couldn't stop but I really should have. A wonderful, touching song and a great rendition here.
I'm sitting here trying to see if i have a body part that don't have a cold chill! That is absolutly fantastic! Thanks for the upload!

And this wonderful song--so beautifully performed here by Laurie Lewis--was written by my friend Kate Long of Charleston WV. I am so touched!

I'm sitting here counting the body parts I would gladly sacrifice if only I could write a song like this. As Good As It Gets.

My favorite song by Laurie. Very touching, and a great video. Thanks so much. Reminds me of my now-gone parents' home.
