@marinesusarule Are you sure youre a Marine?? Because i am and both Hoorah n Oorah are acceptable and the Navy doesnt say Hoorah they say Hooyah! this is basic stuff a real Marine wouldnt go around saying they rule and a real Marine always capitalizes the M in Marine
@ajsaccount1991 Have very "clichés" and nothing special to add. But, deffenetly is one of the beste accion movies this years. This movie and "Black Hawk Down" are my favourites military movies ever.
My first thought was why don't that use AC 130'S lol. Seriously send one of those up there, and shoot shit down. AC 130's are also very steathy. W/E good movie.
After I've watched dis scene & movie, I put on my Marine PT attire (green-on-green) & ran 6.3miles in the heat/rain in FL, in Honor for all Marines & Troops serving unselfishly for us, our families & our country. Semper Fi & OohRah my brothers & sisters. I'll see u bac out there. - Sgt Greene
why? the guys an idiot, he could have left the explosives on the bus, and got carried away by the other guy to safety, from which he could have set the explosives off.
@MixeTube you've obviously never even watched the movie... He was gravely injured, he had metal shards from an explosion lodged in his chest and stomach for one. The other thing was that the remote detonator was destroyed. The one he had in his hand was directly connected to the explosives by a short wire.
@MixeTube The situation they were in was hopeless, they were stranded on a bridge with a large mobile enemy unit that was ripping them to shreds. At this point, they already lost a soldier or two, others were injured including a civilian. They were trying to repel them down the side of the bridge but they were closing too fast. The remote detonator was destroyed, their last chance. It would take too long to move you and you risk others to do so. Would you die to save several others, then?
The worst thing about this scene is that if you listen at the start of the movie, it's said that he's 18... 18 years old and sacrifices himself... it's amazing.
one of the best parts of this great movie i watched it over and over again to soak up the full effect, and when i join in the army next year on my 18th birth day, I hope i am as brave as this marine shows
The people like him are the reason why we have such a good army the reason why we have such a good continent. These people are the people that we celebrate this day for. R.I.P people of the army may we come to love you.
Corporal Jason Dunham was post humosly awarded te Medal of Honor for heroic actions beyond the call of duty in Iraq, 2004. Cpl. Dunham shielded an enemy grenade with his own body in an attempt to save his fellow Marines. He is exemplifies what it means to be a Marine, and brung a fighting spirits to 3/7, Cutting edge.
Army are a bunch of pansies that sit back and let robots do work rangers suck and only thing different they do than normal infantry is fly all the army is is FNGs (fucking new guys) long live USMC HOORAH
@McDogginified US & British special forces were the first in, they needed to clear landing zones for the Chinook's otherwise that batch of US soldiers/marines coming in would hit the earth a pile of RPG-hit rubble... Spec Ops teams, backed up by pathfinders & Rangers (or Force Recon) go in first to clear way for the reinforcements to land.
...no shit sherlock. "Lead the way is what we Army Rangers say!" - it's not "lead the way," it's "Rangers lead the way." I was merely being a prick and correcting him.
Between this scene, the kids dad getting shot and dying are the sadest parts of the movie. My girlfriend started crying and it was emotional for me too because her brother was a Marine and he did the same thing to save his men. This movie was EPIC with the right kind of emotion in it. Screw the critics.
Lieutenant Martinez was not a terrorist. A Terrorist is someone whom advocates fear and submission into others, has disregard for human life, and most importantly uses threats and violence to coerce others into ones benefits.
@Cayden1986 A terrorist is someone who uses terror tactics. A martyr is someone who sacrifices themselves for what they believe is the greater good, however martyr's are usually bad, so we'll call him a "hero" - It's fitting :)
@RepublicAgent The phrase officially doesn't, but in today's world, martyr's are almost unanimously, bad people, and besides, hero sounds much better for a brave US Marine, amiright? xD
Maybe you believe martyr's are bad people but I don't think most of the world agrees with you. I believe they get the definition.
As far as the lieutenant, he's martyr in the sense that he died in the fight for all humanity. From that direction, everyone around the world who sacrificed themselves against the evil aliens are also martyrs. Martyrs work for you or against you. It's true plenty of martyrs in America's war zones don't die for America.
@RepublicAgent Some paedophiles have helped to advance the world, doesn't make them good people does it? The term "martyr" is used in a bad, religious way... to call a soldier a martyr is lacking respect.
For your first bit, what are you talking about? I don't understand you.
And again, the term isn't negative. Most people don't see it as negative. They work for you or against you. If someone was martyred for a cause that's not yours - of course you'll see it as negative. If they died for a cause that you support - then vice versa. But the term itself is not negative.
But what are you talking about with that first bit? That made no sense.
@RepublicAgent It was an analogy, and you're saying what I mean, throughout the ages martyr's have always been bad, so the term "martyr" whilst it can be good, it's a term synonymous with being bad, and whilst you understand the subtlety of the term, most people won't, which is why it's better to use the term sacrifice or hero :)
The marines are nothing without the Army. Each branch works in conjuction with one another like a fine tooned machine. OOH-AH is what the Army says and Lead the way is what we Army Rangers say!

@RepublicAgent
An example of a positive martyr: Martin Luther King Jr. Only negative if you support segregation, discrimination, and racism.
A negative martyr: Osama Bin Laden, that is if he was your enemy. He would be a positive martyr for someone else.
Depends completely on your point of view, as you can see. But the term "martyr" is not negative.
