Cool, I have a trip to Europe coming up soon and deciding if I want to ride the BA 747-400 or an American 777. After seeing your wonderful video, considering the 747. But wow, what a long take-off roll!
although it could have been for security.. I mean this was just after 9 11.. and i have been told before not to film or take photos of inside planes due to terrorist regulations... =P... lol
@mrtulala1 I thought they were awesome. Back in 98 I flew on a BA 767-300ER from KCLT to EGKK, was expecting the usual Landor theme and it showed up with this great big rose on the tail and the Blue trim lowered about 3 feet. The arrow turned into a ribbon. thought it was cool, but I really like the old landor theme, though it may be a bit 80s. I wish Delta would bring back their 70s-80s look as well.
@goriajk THIS WAS ON MY BIRTHDAY! I turned four in Morocco. Did the BA 747 have AVOD or even PTV's back then? It's the KwaNdebele design on the tail--I flew on a 737 in South Africa with that design. DO you have any videos with the interior of that 747?
@SouthAfricanAirways1 - Unfortunately, no video inside the 747 - I do have video on the first video from LA to London - check it out. Thanks for watching. JG
British Airways has the best TAILS. Hands down. Never flewn they, don't know about their service but they have the greatest looking tails of all the carriers. I remember when they were getting flack about the tails. Keep on with the great tails BA, don't worry about what hates say about them.
Thank you so much for this video. I have an enormous fear of flying and have been watching your video religiously in order to condition myself for the big day in 5 weeks. I'll let you know how i get on. But thank you for this, i'm sure you didn't think it would be used in such a way but it's been the best video i have found yet in helping this problem!
Hi. I really can't tell ya. I forgot to write down the specific 747-400 plane, but I suggest you can locate it by the specific tail design from 2001. It's been repainted in the now standard BA livery. Good Luck and Thanks for Watching. Joe G.
Excellent video - thanks for sharing mate. The BA 747s are my favourite - I would love to fly one when I am older! I love seeing them in Sydney, would go just to see one. Awesome plane!
Hi. It's been four years since my last BA flt. Both 747-400 and 777-200's have individual tv screens for you to watch movies, cartoons, some tv shows are presented. I personally like using the PTV for tracking the flight in real time (while listening to music) - I hope I answered your question. Happy flying. Joe G.
I really like the new BA livery, last time i flew with BA i flew 1st Class and it was fantastic! I was right at the front of a 747 and had in-flight movies FREE and all the booze i could drink! Mind you i got 1st Class Becuae my dad worked for BA and we waited for it for 3 days! Well worth the wait i tell you!
Hardbass, I think BA still uses the 747 from LHR to DEL. However, BA is phasing out the 747 for the 777 - I love the 777 just as much (2x5x2) configuration in WT Economy. United offers the best comfort of all in Economy + - I don't like the 3 seat format in the 747-400 - That's why I sit way in back where 2 seats are avl. Thanks for watching. JG
I flew the exact route you're planning to do. It was just four short years ago this Nov. - from IAD to LHR - then LHR to Delhi. Enjoy the flights and thanks for watching my video. Joe
Yeah i know. I am thinking going with BA end of the yr from Aus to Euro. Qantas has no incidents in history thats what its makes them great but the service not so great as I was travelled back few yrs ago.
BA is a very good airline...with lots of reputation! i would say that in europe it would rank 1st, then Lufthansa, and then Air France! BUT! worldwide, the best airline is QANTAS! and then THAI..but BA isn't bad either!
No I have to disagree with you. In europe service wise Aer Lingus would come first, then BA and then bmi. Worldwide it would have to be Korean, Thai and then Aer Lingus. Aer Lingus are way better than BA on service
Did that flight attendant at 2:06-8 ask you to turn off your camcorder for a bit, if so that's unacceptable! How does he feel he has the right to say that? It wasn't disturbing anyone, the 'cameraman' was not making a scene. Oh well, maybe I've been lucky as for encountering no trouble while boarding and recording simultaneously........I only fly United, maybe they're mellow about the matter.
Im a flight attendant and federal law prohibits the use of any recording device on board an aircraft. How u get away with it on United is crazy! Also other passengers mite not feel comfortable with u recording with them in the video. Also crew dont exactly like someone walking around slowly filming taking forever to settle in their seat. Its a plane not the grand canyon! This is coming from an SIA crew member we are rated the best crew, it really depends but i always tell people can u not film.
im also a flight attendant if the plane is in mid flight you shouldnt have a problem with that and stop being the princess , or prince you think you are . it all part of customer service and keeping the passenger happy, i agree with the take off and landing , it shouldnt be taped . but no problems occur , people always have there phones on .
Hi. My Dad & I were sitting in 53HJ - At the very end of the 747-400 in World Traveller. It was nice, having two seats with a bit extra room. The only issue I had were the cues for the restroom. I would fly BA again if I could. I'm going to fly United next time to London due to points (= upgrades). Thanks for watching. JG
Haha 9/11 didn't keep people down for long, did it? And I love Heathrow, it's a great airport :]
Ha. I remember the first time I stepped foot in one of those big guys... I was 5. I thought it was big then, and the second time I went on one, I was amazed at how big it still was xD
I love 747s. I hope they fly for a loooong time to come!
'family', the 747-8. I don't see Boeing stopping production of the 747's anytime soon. Look at how popular the 747 has been and still is today. As much as Airbus has achieved with the A380, i think airlines like United and Lufthansa(launch customer for the 747-8)will have 747's for a long time to come.
what camera make and model did u use?? please don't say it was one of those tape cameras lol really poor quality! but great videos would of looked really good if u had a better cam
HI. Yes, it's true...It was one of those 'classic' SONY video cameras - It came out 'just ok' - Now we have digital I will add more 'current' flight adventures in the future. Thanks for watching. JG
HI!!! My opinion of BA is positive. They are respectful for the passenger on-board and for the most part they do a truly professional job. I'm A United Frequent Flier, yet I prefer BA (OneWorld) versus Star Alliance (That might change soon, though) I have only flown BA outside of north America due to their reliablity & care we get from the staff. I will be flying United to Asia next year, though. We'll see. As for the 2nd question, it took roughly 9 hours from LHR to DEL. Take care. Joe G.
im goin new york with them aswell but this my 1st time goin there and ever been on dis jumbo jet does it ave alot of things to do on their as its quite a long flight ? x
HI. The Boeing 747-400 is my favorite jet of 'em all. Trust me...you will have a very good time as they have a great personal seat video system loaded with great video & audio choices. Have FUN and Thanks for your comment. JG
Oh how I love the 747, such a magnificent plane. Nice job! I would love to fly this aircraft again, even just to fly in it, not for a holiday :) I can understand a lot of people being edgy, poor things. Thankyou so much for posting, keep up the good work - 5 stars! Thanks again and long live the 747!
Hello, that only applies to electronics that can interfere with the plane's navigational aids and avionics..which means no radios or cell phones. Video cameras and digital cameras are okay, same with laptop or notebook computers. I fly with my Game Boy Advance SP and have never encountered any problems.
This different color scheme on every jet of BA used to look very nice... a different tail on every jet of BA... Too bad they stopped painting their jets like that...
Thank You. It was actually 40 days after the 9/11 attacks, and of course I felt a little edgy - but the trip turned out to be one of the most pleasant experiences ever (Hardly anyone were on these planes, many folks were afraid and stayed home. I think British Airways should wrap their whole planes in a giant Union Flag scheme or if not put the Union Flag on their tails.

I have some questions about psychology:
*Why do we love flying?
*Why do we enjoy air travel?
*Why is flying a classic things to do?
