@aworld2b before making irrational comment about Sir Ed you should know why his statue is there, his statue is erected there in honour of what he did for Khumjung School & village not because he climbed Mt Everest and yeah how did I know coz I am from that village
It's not just a pick, it's the tallest one.. Everyone wants to touch it's tip: I dream to touch it's foot next year! Anybody wanna go up to base camp?
Whenever we talk about the triumph over Mt Everest, we do not separately pronounce the name of Sir Edmund Hillary and Nepalese hero Tenzing Norgay sherpa.
Their is dark side to the New Zealand mountaineers in Himalayan Region in Tibet which has over 2500 KM of Himalayan mountain range. The mountaineers and trekking company from NZ and Australia who benefits and make their livelihood by their nexus with Beijing to cover up the atrocities committed by Chinese troops on Tibetan refugees escaping from Tibet.
The 2006 Nangapa La massacre by censored even by NZ media for about 2 yrs to appease China.
leave them alone. why is there a need to "modernize" them. If they are happy, let them be. we don't need MORE people to participate in the pollution of the planet.
There are many, quietly working to improve life for the less fortunate but they are still too few. The Hilary's and volunteers are a fine example of how ordinary citizens can get things done when governments are absent.
people like u change the world . i appreciate all the people who include or done this extraordinary project which help poor people and Change their lives in positive and easy way.
I give deep respect and thank from my inner heart to Sir Edmund Hillary. The things that the own country can't see of their people, you did and showed to all and proved that u are great.!!.i also really want to visit this place and want to do sthg over there...!!!
@GetSavedD00d you ride a bike everywhere, don't use refrigerators, air sprays and don't let any waste get out? 'most disguising and destructive' stop generalizing. dumb shit.
Having been involved in development, and it is not necessarily clear that dumping money 'American style' works for the people, this is a good story. You can see the genuine love that this climbing fraternity has for Nepal. They are genuinely involved instead of 'keeping their distance.' No wonder it is working well. Indeed, Hillary was a great visionary, an enlightened person. For the most part, most Americans couldn't hold a candle to these down-under folks because they have become stupid.

Brilliant! I moved to NZ in 1971 but this film taught me things I didn't know about the
Great Man. Sir Ed was a prime example of how people doing great things often do it quietly.

All of humanity has fucked the planet up.
Humans are the most disgusting and destructive species on the globe.

Because I'm still fighting to try and make a difference. Trash like yourself is why the planet is failing.
Dont even bother replying. Just go back to eating your twinkies and playing your silly video games.

I've probably done more to help this planet in two years than you'll do in your entire pathetic life.
But no, I want to hang around because I'm hoping a giant asteroid will wipe out humanity, and I hope I get to see it go right up your worthless ass.
What a joy that would be.
