  • If you close your eyes or move past the shallow, superficial crap people see when they go to a performance, then you can truly hear the music, and hear how sublime Lang Lang's playing is.

  • I am going to see lang lang play beethovens 1st and 4th concertos next march and i literally can not wait! i have always admired his performing and the way he really feels the emotion in the music he plays. such a wonderful talent.

  • OH COME ON ! Stop saying people that don't like him are jealous.

  • lang lang is a mentallist. end of.

he's one of the very few these days that actually feels the music, and it comes through seemlessly. we should feel honoured to be able to listen to him in our day.

  • He's very dramatic. So what? If you can play that well you get to do whatever you choose. Listeners, listen.

  • lol the icon of this video looks like the conductor is pushing Lang Lang's face...

  • Fourth concerto is this is the greatest piece of music Beethoven wrote.

  • look, a porcupine can play piano , lol

  • @1302456zz yes and so much better than most of the "humans" can

  • 0:16 he is so ugly

  • @1302456zz oh Im sure he is much more good-looking than you, and on top of that he is a famous pianist.

  • @lulugotsmile who care. only pigs appreciate pig. i'm human. ;)

  • @1302456zz 你跟郎朗有什麼仇嗎?

  • @CYTL1960 你功夫片看多了?LOL

  • @1302456zz 你針對問題回答吧!

    要不是有仇,怎麼有這種豬啊人啊的評論?

  • LOL

when i saw the thumbnail of this video

    i thought someone's pulling LLang's mouth

  • ...one hell of an odd couple, these two, to the point of being SURREALISTIC...expected LL to make a fool of himself here...but he kinda cleaned up his act a bit...

  • I am completely aware this is a stupid comment, but when I saw the thumb-nail for this video, it really, truly, honestly looked liked someone was pinching Lang's lips together while he was playing the piano. I thought to myself, "What strange stunt is Lang pulling now?" Then I saw it was just the conductor gesturing to the orchestra in a perfect moment.

I'm sorry, I just thought it was too funny a coincidence to not point out =)

  • @SergeOfArniVillage LOL, i thought that someone was squishing his face, and was immediately intrigued and HAD to watch it. :)

  • I'm seriously wondering if you are in control of the music or if the music is controlling you. Sometimes you look like a man caught on a musical live wire and can't let go but you love the pain!

  • perfect®virtuoso

  • Lang Lang has a gift from God. I wish I can play like he can. It's from the heart, if you can play at all. Tried several years and cannot touch the classical gift... If you have the gift, go go!! Get a good teacher that knows... Or can teach to you this.. Or if you have a the gift, play!!!

  • he plays good, but hes not my favorite, he makes to much faces.

  • @Italian77721 Sorry, they're all like that.

  • I am merely curious but why do you think he is a good pianist ?

  • @mostupdate His attact is perfict, timing as well, not to mention his memory of the score. Then there is the visual side, he feels it and lets you know he does this adds to the colors of it all. This all works together to pull you as the listener in and enjoy! Hope this helped.

    From a guitarist!

  • @mostupdate sir i dont think his good, i know ihs amazing, his so passionate about music, he plays from his soul, he expresses himself thru music, some ppl play an instrument just to play or for attention or popularity but there very few musician that play because of their desire and passion, and thats something a person like u will never understand, the true beauty of music

  • @ringostarrkicksass

so what's true beauty of music

  • 1:52 camera jumped on him

  • michael jackson of classical music dude...

  • Lang Lang is certainly a fine pianist. There's no doubt about that. However, I find it very hard to take him seriously, what with all of the superfluous body motion and near comical facial expressions. I just feel that it takes away from the grandeur and the certain gravitas that these classical and romantic era pieces possess.

  • @24psmith This is just the thing: this body movement, is not "superfluous". It is not "just show". It is the way, and maybe the only way, to approach music deeply, as he does. It is the identification with the emotion one is trying to create, it is the use and meaning of TIME, while playing. The "ideal" of the moveless musician, came only when music became avaliable through recordings. When people heard music ONLY while looking to performers, no one would imagine rigid bodies playing well...

  • @zinktitanum Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with the use of physical bodily and facial expression as a tool to impart emotion through a performance. In the end, that's what music is really all about - conveying an emotion. There is however a point were I think that the use of this tool can become much too liberal. It's like there is a threshold where the movement takes away from the performance, becoming more of a distraction than an edition to the overall affect of the piece.

  • Great performance,pretty much without comparison !

  • OH LOOK A CAMERA KEEP SMILING =) 0:15

(just kidding, i love his playing)

  • lmaooo 0:16, looks like Eschenbach's touching Lang Lang's face if you pause it

  • pauase at 0:16, it looks like Eschenbach's touching Lang Lang's face LOL

  • Lang Lang should never touch Beethoven or Chopin. His shitty playing is unworthy of such great composers.

  • @Haaggus LOL U MAD!? LOL Y U MAD THO!?

  • 0:15 ''Wow! You are looking FIT today Christoph''

  • Uncontrolled retard plays the piano = anything by wang wang.

  • @bsd300d Before you even put nasty comments about Lang Lang, Please learn to spell his name.

    Thank you.

  • @bsd300d

    LOL WHY SO JEALOUS BRO?!?!!

  • I believe that his facial expression comes from his heart after I watched this vedio. It's NOT FAKE.

  • love his playing

  • JESUS forever bless LangLang !!!

    :o)

  • fantastico!!!!!

  • fortuna che c'è tanta gente che adora Lang Lang! E fantastico!

  • he is ill.

i can only hope for his neck.

  • Loving the pianist. Unique interpretation.

But no copyright claim from Deutsche Grammophon? I think this is their material.

  • Lang Lang probably has reason to say this is the most beautiful dramatic piece for piano, I love this concerto and this movement... I like to hear Lang Lang... not to see him putting faces moving arms, etc, ha ha...

  • I don't understand the need for such negativism....is it jealousy of the fact that a classical artist has achieved rock star status? I've heard many recordings of the 4th, my favorite concerto, and Lang Lang's is worthy of high praise, even if it may not be my favorite (Ashkenazy is mine, for what it's worth). Having seen Lang Lang perform in recital, front row, and meeting him afterwords, I can attest that the passion is genuine, not contrived. My father, a successful conductor, agreed.

  • His facial expression is part of his music. It moves his audiences.

  • @InterlochenFan

    I totally agree with you.

People are jealous of his musical excellence and ability.

Each artist has his or her own way to express.

    We need to recognize it.

    Lang Lang is so talented.

He is one of the best pianists today.

  • actually you are who speak of dumb shit here big mouth!

you must be DEAF!!! and even the deaf might i'll notice the different

  • why are you so racist?

  • too bad

  • I personally think that Lang Lang is one of the most interesting and neurotic pianists alive today. He is also fine musician. I may not like his superficial movements and facial expression, but that doesn't mean that he can't create great music, which he does.

I heard his performance of the Beethoven 4th on the NHK program here in Japan and it was one of the finest Beethoven playing I heard, next to Murray Perahia. So you haters, put up your videos or shut up. I don't see you making CDs.

  • 这张专辑确实很不错 !~~!!!

  • saddest piece of music ever for piano- sooo true

  • I like hear him playing but not lokking.............

  • lang lang is so into the music when he plays..

  • You should watch him play Chopin, I think he is half-hearted sometimes he plays.

  • Wow superb. I don't like lang lang usually but i am very impressed.

  • Lang Lang my super super STAR ! ! !

  • Lang Lang is so gifted. He's such a fine musician. I've played piano and keyboards since I was 5 years old, and I only wish I could play as wonderful as he does. I've studied music with a handful of excellent teachers, but it would simply be my dream, and honor, to be one of Lang Lang's piano students.

Those that insist on posting horrible comments about this man, and his performing, are simply persons that are jealous of his ability to make the piano come absolutely alive.

  • @RealWorldofTrucking Ludwig Van Beethoven would be one of them, but you don't seem to care much about his music, do you?

  • @RealWorldofTrucking Jealous probably, but over all their spirits are sad.So lets not judge as they have. The honesty will grab you and you will know,I know.I know there are no words to describe what I'm feeling now.

  • EMPERORMIKI you r so full of hatrate, anger, jealousy and most of all racist.Just because he is a Chinese you hate him. Just to let you know is world famouse and a excellent performer. Who are you, why don't you play a piece of your ass and let us have a good laugh at your stupidity.

  • quando sento la sua voce mi elevo al cielo!!!è una artista bravissima!!!

la dedico al mio dolce amore.

  • lang lang rocks!!!

    By Erika Ragazzi :-)

  • how can you hate a musician like Lang Lang

  • hey why does LANG LANG get emotional when playing this and it kinda looks weird but it doesnt matter becasue he rocks

  • He is incredible. i better buy his cd. but instead of listening music, i enjoy more his expression, body moves, and everything just watching him play... i enjoy the funny and silly or sad expression. its great!!! mybe not cd, but VCD!

  • wow, his face impression is a lil bit strange but he feels the music & thats very important

  • I would love to hear the whole concerto

  • Yes!! this is really good work!!

  • Yes! I must admit that here he convinces me at last! Bravo Lang Lang!

  • Y tu eres un Idiota y un racista. deberias patearte a ti mismo en el culo y no hablar mas. Idiota ignorante bueno para nada.

  • Stunning! Stunning! Sublime! A consumate perfomance by Lang Lang at the height of his power!!

  • give the guy a break

  • i like it!

  • you are very enthusiasticalicious piano man haha hahaha

  • you are piano man? hahaha

  • Beethoven`s concerts are simply perfect... The 1st movement of concerto no.4 is one of the greatest pieces ever written... and i really love Lang´s interpretation

  • Check out "War,Peace, Love" by Grant Foster. It moved me so much.

  • Je l'aime trop, ce mec... il comprend ce qu'il joue là.

Ben, je peux pas commenter Beethoven lui-même, il est unique en sa position entre Classique et Romantisme et avec son esprit et son coeur.

  • Just stunning. Also have a listen to Grant Foster's Love Theme with with Yuri Bashmet's New Russia Orchestra. Its fantastic.

  • nobody can be compared with Beethoven.

  • I think Tchaikovsky can compare with beethoven, even though there much different styles.

  • Beethoven is the greatest!

  • Agreed.

  • Amazing interpretation!
