My god such great memories! I remember way back in the day in 93, when I was in 7th grade. I played this with my sis, and younger bro (who was the sprite- he was in 5th grade at the time lol). We played the hell out of this game, and beat it the day we came home from school; which was also the start of our winter break. I'm now into game design, and I'd like to create a game that made me feel the way this game did.
This is my favorite final boss fight of all the games I've played. I love how the Mana Beast flies around, makes that 'rer reooo' sound, then rushes at them. My favorite final boss music too.
as far as world of warcraft that someone mentioned. wow does have its peak points. the night elf zone teldrassil is absolutely stunning and gives off a feeling of being sucked into a dream. much like the outlands. otherwise the game is crap. i actually just quit playing wow lol. if anyone ever DOES play wow you will see several elements they copied off secret of mana and other good classic games, but the NIGHT ELVES starting zone = AMAZING
Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which has electronic music inspired by great games such as Secret Of Mana. It’s up on my channel ORTmusic to check out and download!
You know, I just don't like this game. Props to you though for putting the time into to it. I've tried to play it a couple of times and can never get into it. I feel like I should like it, since so many love it, yet I just can't. To each their own huh?
@McScreamo Thats a hard decision. I'd say chrono trigger has the most replay value, FF3 is just amazing, lufia 2 is great but a bit repetitive, secret of mana very innovative. For $80 bucks tho? I'd prolly go with either chrono trigger or ff3. I'm assuming you've played or beaten all 4
@707username707@OmegaPirate only one other game has made me feel sad at the end. Illusion of Gaia/time (us/uk name) took twice as long as SOM but sad when completed,.
You can download emulators for all the snes games, but some madness in me drives me buy all the cool rpg's like this one, mario rpg, final fantasy, chrono trigger, secret of evenmore, illusion of gaia or illusion of time. Their all so expensive , but f*** it. i'm buying them all. Thumbs up if you have the same madness!!!!
wow..old memories,it was the start of that whole rpg era for me...final fantasy 6, secret of evermore,Chrono trigger....legends like these will never die.
@GamerNinjaX I have to agree with you on that Donkey Kong Country and Diddy's Kong Quest were both amazing games... Heck I still play these games they are better than what is coming out now!!
I cannot believe how easy this battle really was, compared to the previous battle with dark lich. (especially after i found his weakness to lucent beam (Lvl 8)
I've really got to replay this just to beat flammie
You said it could never be duplicated, that's how good it was. And that Final Fantasy, a franchise that spawned dozens of games, motion pictures, anime shows, soundtracks, and manga, couldn't hold a candle to it. You'd have to be a pretty solid Secret of Mana fan to say it's that good. Not just a casual fan. And like I said, it is a good game, but you're overrating it.
@jarannalli Yeah I did! I thought about it for awhile and decided that the negative comments were obviously from people who didn't play it as religiously as some of us. It's almost perfect hey? In some cases even easier, like magic levelling. But I dunno if you got this...when you kill the bosses they don't get that explodey firey graphic? That's one of my favourite parts! Why would they cut it. It's weirdly satisfying...very weirdly haha.
@McScreamo Get an emulator, mate! I'm using "ZSnes", I don't know if it's the best one or something but it works fine, and you can easily download SNES games (called snes roms). You can play all your favourite games from your childhood! It's fantastic :D
@mopbrothers A huge dragon that blasts you with fireballs that fill the entire screen? Getting to revive the Mana Sword? The most amazing final boss theme of any video game ever made?
@mopbrothers Actually you can win. Me and my brother played through flammie ran out of mana and relied on items to beat him. Takes longer to beat him,but can be done.
@MentosMan727 Having dryad at level 0 will make the mana-magic effect not last very long. Also, it's an idea to use Luna's magic to buff your attack and crit rate.
for some reason, one of my saved games, the main boy was hit by a fish in the sewers and became a snowman and then he disappeared! It was a random glitch and then when I reset and reloaded, he was gone! The girl and sprite's icons were merged in the middle as if the boy never existed. hahaha The last boss was a bitch to kill without him.
You should really specify that you used the savegame glitch to get the 9th sword orb. Other than that, was great to re-live this battle again without having to dig out my SNES.
@datura1983 Maybe in the opinion of Secret of Mana fans, but there are a lot of rpg games out there that crush this game. I liked this game, but your statement is couldn't be further from the the truth
@328805 wow ive gotten a lot of responses. no i havent played that version. i LOVE zeldas link to the past. that's my favorite zelda. better than the first and the first was awesome =)
@trollsnot lol yeah, then i can cry like a baby having to kill the cute lil dragon and knowing the sprite is gonna die :( that so sucks. this game made me cry like a baby when i first beat it lol
why does everyone think you are fighting flamey? the game itself tells you what the mana beast is, it is every monster currently on the planet combined. So yeah, one fang or one feather might come from him, but the rest ist, well everything mixed together.
It just looked badass this way so he looks similiar to your badass flying pet.
Yeah but did you use Game Genie Codes or Replay codes, because thats proberly the only way you can max your stats, i played this on the snes & emulation and could defeat the mana beast at levels 63 and with all level 8's on mana magic without the codes and it only took me less than a day
I haven't played this game in ages! Why did you have to fight Flamey for the last boss again? I thought he was the one that flies you around the world map, doesn't he? Did he suddenly go evil? I forgot so someone tell me.
When I played this game as a kid I honestly had no idea that I was fighting Flamey, which is a good thing because I might not have finished the game had I known.
A strategy I use for when Lucid Barrier isn't high enough is casting Remedy as he charges at you. You take no damage each time and it's only 1 MP. Having cure water at at least level 6 comes in handy for this fight too
I realy love the old scool rpgs, playinf a lot of them on GBA some remakes of Dragon quest also great games on DS and a view rpgs on PS2 the are nealry anny good rpgs on PSP (Juwel kingdom monster summoner is great but quit rare) and on PS3 the is like almost no good RPG;s the DS has the best of it now, i so wanna play Dragon quest 9 untik then oklay me some oldies great stuf
@Ryouh93 Yes, I totally agree... I'm not sure why, but the rpgs from this era were so wonderful. The stories were really great, the music was so catchy and memorable, and I am a sucker for the 2D spritework.
Does anyone know what happen? one day I was playing the game some skeleton boss b4 this guy then then the small sprite kid disapears I was like wtf?! I search everwhere XD couldnt find him :(
Hey guys, if you're into games and such check out my channel. I'm into making action rpgs and things of that nature and I'm holding a closed beta soon. I'd like some people who are interested to tell me what sort of games they like!
If you like things of that nature send me a comment or subscribe.
All I can say is: when I got to the end the first time, I NEVER expected Flammie to be the end boss of the game. I remember it clearly.... when I realized that Flammie was the God/Mana Beast, and when she started to fly right at me, all I could shout was :'HOLY SHIT!!!!'
I'll try to be as cool about this as I possibly can. When you see Flammie on the video charging toward you, and if you you didn't want ANY spoilers for this game...... it's nothing personal or anger based, but........ WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WATCHING YOUTUBE? = P
Quite possibly the most creative and well-animated boss fight on the SNES. Lovin' it. I beat this game quite a few times, and it was my favorite game back in the day.
This boss was nowhere near as easy when you don't spend a ton of time leveling up, and pretty much just play through everything as you go.
Wasn't necessarily crazy difficult, but was time consuming.
i remember i pitched my levels so high i it was realy easy to beat the boss in level 33 or someting or 40 i dont know anymore. Its sad that i cant use the power afterwards but its a real good classic and i dont get it why they dont release the sequel in europe i think there was a 3rd part in japan
thanks for that i think there was a playstation 1 version only releade in usa and japan what was the best of all seiken dentsu parts (former even secret of mana (seiken dentsu 2) schould have been realeased on playstation 1 in firt place but it never happened. Thanks nintendo for let us europes see Secret of Mana
I found a easy way to glitch the game so that Flammie does no damage during the comet attack: When Flammie is far away (like at 1:11) Then makes the noise to attack (1:15) cast the undine healing spell, the spell will hit right at the moment of impact and no damage will occur, plus you heal any lost health from Flammie's attacks.
I first played this game when I was 4 and i was hooked this was my second favorite game on the SNES but The legend of Zelda a link to the past was my all time favore GOD it was a good game
i ment left but now i am confused -.-.... because i think that this is not cheated and then i think it is cheated because of the fast attack reload -.- god damnit
You're talking about weapon charging right? I think charge speed is also based on character level and also a stat may be involved too (agility maybe?). I'm not really sure.
This game is so sad. Why do you have to kill your best friend?

One of the best rpg games, secret of mana 2 is an awesome game too, especially when you play on 2players... Gotta love these old snes games. =)
MrJerkkeri 2 years ago
I love the original secret of mana fighting style, how you charge and release to do serious damage. the sequel does not have those kind of attk.

All I can say is: when I got to the end the first time, I NEVER expected Flammie to be the end boss of the game. I remember it clearly.... when I realized that Flammie was the God/Mana Beast, and when she started to fly right at me, all I could shout was :'HOLY SHIT!!!!'

Flammie =/= Mana Dragon

I'll try to be as cool about this as I possibly can. When you see Flammie on the video charging toward you, and if you you didn't want ANY spoilers for this game...... it's nothing personal or anger based, but........ WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WATCHING YOUTUBE? = P
Vagrant026 2 years ago
Haha, you got me :D
I watched this video just to see the endfight, not to read such a surprise :D

Quite possibly the most creative and well-animated boss fight on the SNES. Lovin' it. I beat this game quite a few times, and it was my favorite game back in the day.
This boss was nowhere near as easy when you don't spend a ton of time leveling up, and pretty much just play through everything as you go.
Wasn't necessarily crazy difficult, but was time consuming.

from a fanboy POV that would be Giygas from Earthbound but that wasn't to successful in the US...

Earthbound kicked ass
italian10682 2 years ago
naaaah, I think it was easy to beat. I once even did it without using the mana-spells!^^
but you are right. possibly the best animated boss-fight ever
but only after the one from seiken densetsu 3^^

i remember i pitched my levels so high i it was realy easy to beat the boss in level 33 or someting or 40 i dont know anymore. Its sad that i cant use the power afterwards but its a real good classic and i dont get it why they dont release the sequel in europe i think there was a 3rd part in japan
derblicker 2 years ago
actually the third part is the sequel to this one in japan this is seiken densetsu 2
marcosricauter 2 years ago

Thanks nintendo for let us europes see Secret of Mana

I found a easy way to glitch the game so that Flammie does no damage during the comet attack: When Flammie is far away (like at 1:11) Then makes the noise to attack (1:15) cast the undine healing spell, the spell will hit right at the moment of impact and no damage will occur, plus you heal any lost health from Flammie's attacks.

(cheated) because to fast attack reload to many HP and so on -.-
Shypo15 2 years ago
You have played this game before right? Because your comment makes me think otherwise.
Artificialraven 2 years ago
yeah i played it throught lvl 70 and my charas dont have so many hp guy has 500 girlie 400 and the gnome 440 and the reload time is as the beginning
Shypo15 2 years ago
For levels, in the mid 80's and beyond you'll get some pretty crazy stat bonuses when you level up.
Artificialraven 2 years ago
really??? if it so than sry but the think where you make full dmg is over powered to fast 100%
Shypo15 2 years ago
and also this link in description box look at Blake the Attack is to high because on the right side you see the red line go on .....
Shypo15 2 years ago
Yup it does go out of the box. The game programmers didn't really think that part through, although it is just a minor detail.
Artificialraven 2 years ago
i ment left but now i am confused -.-.... because i think that this is not cheated and then i think it is cheated because of the fast attack reload -.- god damnit
Shypo15 2 years ago
You're talking about weapon charging right? I think charge speed is also based on character level and also a stat may be involved too (agility maybe?). I'm not really sure.
Artificialraven 2 years ago
lets stop talking about such a small shit xDDDDDD
...btw i started this shit xDDDDDD
but it is cool how fast you kill him xD
