  • I used sexed semen on two occasions with only a 30% success rate for pregnancies. By the time eveything was born it ended up about 19% when you count the live/dead calves and the low number of bulls that were born. I make a lot more heifers using conventional semen. I no longer use sexed semen. Too high priced, poor success rate, and simlpy not worth it.

  • The semen from high end bulls doesn't get sexed until the demand/popularity of the particular bull takes a dive. The bull 7H8165 Million was pulled for sexing purposes when he was in high demand and that really ticked customers off since the conventional semen wasn't available. Once he was available again they were overloaded with the semen that nobody wanted since everybody moved on to other bulls.

  • Gotta love when you get all bull calves eh

  • Well, they think : why should we ruin some of the semen to make sexed semen when we can sell it without.

  • One big calf! They ok?

  • i've never seen a calf being pulled like that. lol. the sound thats made when the calf come out always makes me laugh tho... that is as long as the calf starts moving. lol
