I've tried listening to O@A and half the time it's about Stern or it's the two of them yakking about crap and I can't discern one voice from the other. I grew up with Howard and any other radio show pales in comparison to him, especially two chuckleheads like "O' and "A" The one time they were remotely any good was when they talked about the AVGN. Howard may not be as good as he used to be but even watered down Howard is still better then any other radio show.
imo this howard versus o&a thing is a media ploy. the fans get all worked up about this like it matters. o&a seem to have less material, far fewer headlining guests, and discuss the fued much more. i totally agree with howard on the gag order thing. I have had Sirius now for 5 years now, and wouldnt switch to XM for anything!! I know quite a few people who have switched over to Sirius from XM, and havent regreted it at all. Alot of them did it when XM suspended O&A from their "uncensored" radio channel. I have heard Howard say outragous things, worse than O&A. I am in favor of the merger, but in the event it doesn't go through, I believe Sirius will be the dominant company, simply because they got Howard, plus they took Nascar from XM.

As The Great Stern sits hold up in his castle, sitting on his aging throne, surrounded by his cowering yes-men, he still thinks he's king. He still dilusionally thinks he's relavent. But the year isn't 1994. Today a new power has overthrown the old regime. The rulers of radio are Opie & Anthony, Lords of Shockjockery. The once mighty Stern is just a bitter old man holding on to fading ghosts of poularity. It's sad, really. He's still waving to a parade that passed him by long ago.
I love how O&A fans claim that Stern is washed up and irrelevant. Meanwhile he left regular radio at the top of his game with top ratings that NO ONE has been able to come close to. Stations across the country are STILL scrambling to find something to fill the enourmous void that he left. Meanwhile sat radio was a medium that few even cared about until Stern made the move. $200 mil bonuses (after signing a 5yr $100 mil contract) are always given to washed-up hasbeens.
Well there is the fact that Stern has fewer listeners now than O&A if you combine their satellite and terrestrial audiences. Also most of Stern's audience didn't follow him to Sirius and he's not getting any new listeners while O&A are. Then there is the fact that Stern hasn't been funny since 1994. And what about the fact that he's got fake callers from a fucking pay service calling his show with hackery. Add all that up and it seems to me he's washed up.
Stern has fewer listeners "if if if". If if was a fifth we'd all be drunk! O&A has been dropped from so many markets I lost count. They can barely get ratings in their home market of NYC! Stern EARNED his way to the top, it wasn't given to him to fill a void that was left. You say he hasn't been funny since '94...I'm still waiting for O&A to be funny. Wake me when that happens.
Ratings in NYC keep improving. They had to rebuild an audience that David Lee Roth destroyed. O&A earned their way to the top too. Opie learned his trade under Brother Wease in Rochester. Remember Wease? The guy who successfuly kicked Stern's ass out of Rochester? Opie and Anthony built from there to be nationally syndicated on WNEW, where Stern was so scared of them he had to get Mel to issue a gag order.

Fuck Howard and his behind-the-scenes gag order on O&A. Opie and Anthony CHOSE XM and had both companies trying to sign them. Sirius SETTLED for Howard when O&A went with XM. I have had Sirius now for 5 years now, and wouldnt switch to XM for anything!! I know quite a few people who have switched over to Sirius from XM, and havent regreted it at all. Alot of them did it when XM suspended O&A from their "uncensored" radio channel. I have heard Howard say outragous things, worse than O&A. I am in favor of the merger, but in the event it doesn't go through, I believe Sirius will be the dominant company, simply because they got Howard, plus they took Nascar from XM.

I love how O&A fans claim that Stern is washed up and irrelevant. Meanwhile he left regular radio at the top of his game with top ratings that NO ONE has been able to come close to. Stations across the country are STILL scrambling to find something to fill the enourmous void that he left. Meanwhile sat radio was a medium that few even cared about until Stern made the move. $200 mil bonuses (after signing a 5yr $100 mil contract) are always given to washed-up hasbeens.

Well there is the fact that Stern has fewer listeners now than O&A if you combine their satellite and terrestrial audiences. Also most of Stern's audience didn't follow him to Sirius and he's not getting any new listeners while O&A are. Then there is the fact that Stern hasn't been funny since 1994. And what about the fact that he's got fake callers from a fucking pay service calling his show with hackery. Add all that up and it seems to me he's washed up.

Stern EARNED his way to the top, it wasn't given to him to fill a void that was left. You say he hasn't been funny since '94...I'm still waiting for O&A to be funny. Wake me when that happens.

Ratings in NYC keep improving. They had to rebuild an audience that David Lee Roth destroyed. O&A earned their way to the top too. Opie learned his trade under Brother Wease in Rochester. Remember Wease? The guy who successfuly kicked Stern's ass out of Rochester? Opie and Anthony built from there to be nationally syndicated on WNEW, where Stern was so scared of them he had to get Mel to issue a gag order.
