Stroking the abdomen can in some cases cause contractions to cease. Then the newborns get stuck inside and will die if they aren't surgically removed. So will the cat. @godahle Each cat is diffrent, when my cat gave birth she wanted to be on you lap. We had a box in a safe quiet place, but if you tried putting her in she freaked out and ran back to my lap. It was comforting to her, some cats may not want to be touched but some seem to need it. maybe the cat got upset if the person left, seriously you have no idea. Even vets say if the cat wants you to stay and comfort them do so, if the cat wants you gone that's a diffrent story.
