When I was in the navy in the 60's some guy put on a Johnny Cash record. It inspired me so much, I went right out a bought a guitar then practiced & practiced till my fingers bled. Our daughters were brought up on Johnny's music. Today I sing with my daughter in a pub..& guess what we sing? Yes! Take a look out our youtube. What a wonderful birthday gift to give to a father. If Americana had a voice it was Johnny cash. He sang for everyone, not for himself or record sales. He was one of us, and I think everyone will always remember his name. At least I hope they do. I think more people could use a little more Johnny Cash music about now.

@kathycash. My dad only had one tape in the car when we were kids and It was ,of course, Johnny Cash. We must have listened to it a million times and we would sing along everytime. My parents and seven little country kids in a station wagon singing "Boy Named Sue"!! Some of my favorite memories growing up. I always wanted to thank your father for his songs, but I never did.. I wish I could have met him, and I miss him.

OMG! Carlene wrote that for Dad when she was 17 years old. She gave him that song for his BD present HOPING someday he may record it. None of us knew until after Dad passed that he HAD recorded it. It was in the vault. The photos you did for this song brought me to tears. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

@terminator0 Yes, she is his daughter. Johnny Cash had four daughters and two step-daughters. Rosanne, Kathy, Cindy, and Tara are his biological daughters and his stepdaughters are Carlene Carter and the late Rosie Nix Carter. I have known Kathy for years, and she is one of the dearest people I have ever known.
