  • It's nice that they included this on the album. After you've been blasting Tool for a while, this song soothes your ringing ears and you are ready to listen to more.

  • This song sounds like what quantum physics looks like

  • i feel my IQ going higher

  • maynard had alot to say.

  • @GhostOfTomJones1 a whole lot of nothing to say.

  • it sounds like it's mapping your whole brain, making you more aware of it. then all of a sudden it explodes in one point

  • how is this music?

  • I remember listening to this on some LSD. it felt like I was on a foreign planet during a storm and there were alien industrial factories nearby lol

  • Cool.

  • Aye anybody got the lyrics?

  • @TheTheBitches Bsssss Wowoshh bssbs woososh

  • i love that odd sound. Especially around 3:28 or so....I could listen to this all day long..

  • once upon time i layed in bed listening to this song... and i thought aliens would attack us with spaceships (and stole my english skills)

  • When I started this fucking song, for some reason I couldn't breathe for like three seconds. I fucking flipped xD

  • Shit. I felt it zipping through my body.

  • @obeytrish no, thats called LSD :)

  • electricity is telling me that I have been brainwashed by my country

  • Feels like a storm. Emphasis on feel.

  • Holy fuck that was so boss.

  • If there was air inside of atoms, Im sure it would sound something like this.

  • i used to listen to this dark room, headphones, ..... felt the electricity

  • Play this and Lipan conjuring at the same time.

  • @wendoodle23 Not much of a good idea. Unless you have some LSD close to you.

  • My brain just lost it's virginity

  • it sounds like planet approaching earth, and the zap is a bug zapper at someones house as it happens

  • I feel like my chest exploded...

  • I am listening to this song that I love so COMPLETELY MEesSSEd up and I am, experiencing an ego death in my little brothers room.

  • everyday before work i throw this on in the morning, better than 5 hour energy.

  • @EvenifuwaNteD2 yeah but whats your 2:30 feeling like?

  • I listened to this one in surround sound in a dark trippy room while flying on acid. Fucking incredible.

  • 1 OF THWE COOLEST TRACKS EVER...

  • Its just not the same withour earbuds or headphones. I tried both.

  • I always picture a cyclone storm or something in the background with power lines fallen down in the foreground :P

  • 2:20 sounds like a piece of sheet metal waving around.

  • It's funny but I have to recognise that I replayed the video because I love that electric sound !

  • the sound actually orbits your head, that's the first time hearing that song, and i've been listening to tool for years. favorite band... (no money to buy albums though) simply amazing...

  • @killerkombat428 tool does that... i was on a bus listening to 46 & 2... almost made a huge public mess.

  • @MacMan282 26 and 2

  • i freaked out.

  • It's awesome the sound effects that you can get from waving giant sheets of metal.

  • This is probably what an alien brain removal from "Skyline" must have felt like.

  • this is my shit right here!

  • is any one else schizo yet?

  • @MaidenFloydTallica13 man i dunno but i think so.. i'll smoke weed and everytime i'll start to schitz...BUT,,,,i don't think it's really a disorder if you learn how to control it and turn it into something good. I'm sure you heard the song Schism. ''the poetry

that comes from the squaring off between, and the circling is worth it,

finding beauty in the dissonance'' (taking something bad and turning it into something good)

learn to balance your mind, it helps a lot!!!!

  • @garfieldthe3rd just happend to me to...

  • Get a pair of great quality headphones and blast this through them. Your brain will be penetrated with the huge black cock of life.

  • @Santaslave666 thank you for keeping the myth going. It's jokes like this that make people think that all black guys have huge cocks. No, don't worry, keep 'em coming. TOOL fucking rocks, by the way :)

  • My absolute favorite part 3:27 --- 3:32

  • @TheDogVI this makes no seance

  • Such a strong song XD

    XDtoolXD

  • Like...if someone didnt know what this was and you randomly played it, it would probably scare them to death. Hah. :D

  • ']['{[]}{[]}[[_ ARMY

  • I would highly recommend this song in the dark. Its quite an experience.

  • @XxriflexpertxX I always like to listen to Tool in pitch darkness. When you have one sense removed, your other senses are heightened.

  • Visionary... finally, the authoritative audio documentation of Transformers intercourse.

  • @rockforchumps

    hahaha niice one XD

  • this song is a reminder of how much we rely on technology which is why you wont find any tool on itunes or any other shit

  • @potpie9311 You won't find Tool on iTunes for financial reasons. Maynard has stated this. Puscifer is on iTunes though. :P

  • @potpie9311 Hahahaha putting some sort of deep meaning into this. "Too much reliance on technology these days." *posts from a computer on the internet*

  • WTF dude

  • This song tripped the fuck out of me, I was so baked.

  • Dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood...... Wait what?

  • when i listen to this with headphones, the electricity just shocks your left side, doesnt it?!?

  • @JordMcDrummer YES! USING MONITORS!!!

  • @JordMcDrummer Yes.

  • I'm Thirsty!

  • I listen to this whenever I smoke. Helps me trip out.

  • I listen to this whenver Im doing a paper or something, it helps me concentrate.

  • @bioniclecritic Yeah

It drowns out the awkward tension of silence but at the same time it isn't too distracting

  • @troyzuse

oh shit, i feel that quote. you must be talking of shrooming with others.

  • @corydrippon yeeeeeeaaaaaaahh maaan

    DOODE

    ARE WE EVEN LIVING?

    OR ARE WE JUST REPEATING?

    *OOOOOOO*

  • Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......CLICK! Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... CLICK!

  • its a fucking shit

  • can anyone tell me what effect is used to create the really bizarre sound @ 3:04?

  • @SUPERSCHMOO Probably something out of Maynard's massive collection of old synthesizers.

  • That effect is done with synthesizers? i would've thought that was made with some sort of weird lute, or electromagnetic device... interesting!

  • No clue. Just guessing. Maynard has a pretty exhaustive collection of synthesizers, old and new. Sometimes he'll put something through a whole series of them to get really bizarre sounds. like that track at the end of Lateralus about aliens.

  • Strangely enough, someone else thinks it's a modified/altered "jaw harp"... i guess i can hear that.

  • Faaip de oaid

  • @SUPERSCHMOO it's just the sound of electricity | ions!

  • yee i just did.

  • smoke sum and listen

  • it seems like electrons are spinning around my head

  • me to dude ill sit here and listen to this high and like for a second freak out because i think shit is spinnin around in my head! one of tools best interludes.

  • @TheRomagia hahahaahahah same!

  • the title says it all - ions .the first time i heard this song i realised these guys are visionaries of untold portions!!!

  • now i got to get some hearing aids and go swimming.

  • tools earlier stuff like this is better than what i heard on 10,000 days. 10,000 days was like a coverband doin remixes or something. idk. just my opinion.

  • 10,000 takes a few listens, but once you get into it, you'll realize just how phenomenal it is.

    just my opinion.

  • i guess i will have to give it another listen. i did like counting bodies like sheep better than pet. but i think thats just bcause i heard counting bodies first.

  • agreed

  • i showed my friends this song when they were high and in the beginning they thought it was a low flying airplane.

  • @XBrootalBeatDownX

lol it really does sound like that and im not even high lol.

  • its like being abducted by aliens or something lol at least thats what it feels like it would be

  • the first time i heard that electricity sound i started freaking out looking all over my room haha

  • Same here!!! I thought it was a fly at first and I started looking around. Then I read your comment and realized it was electricity noises.

  • All of these anecdotes are true. For some reason all harmful particles that may be detected in the air happen to be positively charged. Hence products such as the Ionic Breeze which disperses negative ions into the air which electromagnetically attract to the positive, forming more massive particles that can be sucked out of the air and into the machine.

  • Hmm... what's the effect used in the later part? Sounds like some kind of flanger...

  • it might be a resonance filter of some kind.... not really sure

  • I dreamt a few nights ago that I went to the store and saw this album, then told my mom about it, and yesterday we went to Best Buy and I got it. I'm a relatively new and young Tool fan and I've noticed I never really like their material when I first get it, I have collected their albums backwards (10,000 Days 1st, Lateralus 2nd, now this album) and I didn't like them but now I love them. Gotta give this one a chance as well, and I know I'll eventually love it.

  • Look into "merkaba" and that will explain EVERYTHING about tool! Peace!

  • My situation is so similar!

  • lolz it kinda sounds like a train station the ones underground i mean... thats what i imagined when i first heard this song...

  • SICK

  • Just listen to this with a good pair of headphones- the part with the electric arcs...it almost feels like it's going though your brain. It's fucking awesome.

  • dude i know. best song ever for sleepless nights. it's like gettign high in your mind. i frggn love the arcs man. sick.

  • @ingwersengrady

Yeah, you're right. It's a very strange feeling. And a great one indeed :)

  • @ingwersengrady hell yeah!!

  • @ingwersengrady It made me cum. 10 times.

  • What's the purpose of this song? What does it mean?

  • its am intro to stinkfist when they do it live, and its to prove that (-)ions have positive effects on the mind while +ions have negative effects

  • Comment removed

  • It's the meaning of life obviously.

  • its just a filler

its a song they publish to get more length and more feeling on the album

  • Buddy you need to grow up, all of the tool's songs has a meaning, if you put your headphones on this song you'll find the answer.

  • this song makes me freaking flinch!

  • listen with headphones while its pooring rain outside

  • listen to this shit when your trippin balls!!

you will freak the fuck out!!!

    god bless maynard!!

  • ROKC

  • what is the only band in the world that can make you listen to ions and wind for 4min and make it sound so epic? TOOL

  • lol

  • Ænima has the best album ocver ever.

  • Damn straight.

  • is it me trippin or is it op art?

  • I've read somewhere it's a painting or something called "The Smoke Box."

  • Thanx dude

  • No problem =)

  • lmfao nice that made me lol

  • when you listen to this song with headphones it sounds like the ions are revolving around your head. or thats what i think.

  • Just tried that. Scared the hell outta me.

  • try it on a good configurated surround system...feels like your in the calm center of a storm..

  • negative ions supposedly have a positive effect on humans and positive ones supposedly have a negative effect on humans. things like trees and water falls produce lots of negative ions and things like tv's and computer monitors produce a massive amount of positive ions. the sound that seems to sound like wind in this filler song is considered to be what it sounds like when you are behind a waterfall.

  • I always thought it was a wobbling piece of sheetmetal.

  • doesn't an ion form when electrons leave on atom and go to another? or something like that.. thats what this sounds like to me. like an audial visualization of atomic electrical activity. its fun to think of it that way.

  • actually, they have almost none. I think. They do have alot of fillers, that make you think, what the fuck is this, the first time you hear it. But I think most, if not all of them have some meaning. It's just harder to find, because there are no real lyrics.

  • my bad, i meant to say confusing songs

  • Comment removed

  • thats an understatement nas

  • tool rocks!
