I just started practicing this on the alto, and I'd say so. It has a couple modified notes and figures from Petri. Also, in a few passages where e'' and f'' are forced they are replaced or transposed one octave down, e.g. 2:08 - 2:20 (f'' turned f', and last 4 bars transposed one octave down); 2:55 replacement of d''-e''-f''
Also, to reach the d'' at 2:33, he is sliding from c''. I just watched myself using this trick because of intonation issues, and I wonder if it's a bad habit. Now, is it?
Very well observed my friend! You certainly have good ears and are training and studying this music a lot. Congratulations!
You see, I like this music a lot, and I've played it for years. As you have very well noticed, I've modified some parts of it. Those modifications are, of course, my own doing and that's because I tought it is nicer on recorder this way.
About the "Sliding from c". It's only another modification. Listen again, you'll see other "Slidings"! I think it's nice!
Muito massa essa música, é cânone não é? Eu toquei uma vez com minha prof. Por acaso conheces algum site onde eu possa baixar partituras para flauta doce gratuitamente? Obrigado
Well, I don't think it's actually hard but... It most certaninly is not a begginer's song, at least when it's played on a recorder. I am not very good at reading sheet music myself. I would recomend that you get the sheet and "translate" it to the notes' name, because it's quite big to be figured out by ear. I used an YRA 312 BIII, an Yamaha model. The sound is quite gorgeus but it is not very obedient when it comes to the highest notes
@Diogosas when it comes to the highest notes it´s just not so obedient ´cause the mic is not a studio mic so i think! But it´s not improtant^^ you had this idea and you filled my heart with happiness and.....warm me up...errrr.....something like this XD I feel better when i hear this music by you^^
You brought so much personality in this song and i only know the "standart versions"! Without the very fast up and downs^^
Is it hard to play that? i can't read music and i'm planning to buy a flute to play greensleeves to a ground i figured it out on keyboard too :) just by ear did you learn it by ear or sheet ?
very nice, i must say!!

I want to add that this theme and variations appeared on John Playford's Division Violin. Its 4th edition (1705) features this piece in G minor.
