just listening to some of the music from XIII-2 i can already tell XIII was better in terms of quality but took 5 years to get it. Has a bit more atmosphere, epic and presence than some of the new songs im hearing.

I believe that Hope has more of the main protagonist story like Tidus and Vaan. Lightning was the main character to attract fan boys after the countless final fantasy with a male lead.

I feel lucky that I didn't play any other Final Fantasy but XIII, people speak like this game was something brought from Pandora's box, but it's one of my favorites games.

@HirosamaNadasaki I agree with you. I've played Final Fantasies VIII, X, X-2 and XII. They have their own unique stories and level of difficulty. I think complaints about XIII tend to be about its linearity. It goes from point A to B without any side quests or revisiting any location on cocoon. In the other Final Fantasies I've played, you can revisit almost all the places you've been to. FFXIII is my favorite too mainly because it's simple (in my opinion). I also love the music, it's great. :)

Playing FFXIII is much better the second time around. Pick it up and play it again, I've just done the same and I might actually go as far to say it is now one of my favourites, and I actually love the battle system. The world isn't that linear if you actually play it. Your memory plays tricks on you.

is it wrong that this level made me all teary eyed the whole way through the scenery was unlike anything i have ever seen and the song fits exquisitely giving the level a feel of resplendent beauty. oh and dude in essentially every game you go in a straight line only two come to mind that are different which are elder scrolls and fallout; but this game is so beautiful you can actually walk without need of rushing, I "spam" X thx very much... Lots of people say the game had a mediocre story, and to a degree it did, but Final Fantasy has always been about building beautiful environments, amazing music and getting you immersed into the world that you're traveling in. Not every game needs to have a genre defining story and this game definetly has it's high points.

I actually thought the battle system was entertaining, I couldn't put it down for more than a day.

@WoWFanX FF13's story was amazing to me because it didn't defy the genre of RPGs, but it defied the series of Final Fantasy. The scene that always stands out to me is when Snow is standing in front of the building with all the guns on him yelling "Shoot me!" or something along those lines. And knowing that Vanille was responsible for Sazh's son's demise yet holding it back, and then he pulls the gun on her.

To me the story seems to have grown far beyond what Final Fantasy used to be.

@WoWFanX I disagree. I think FF has always been about the story and less about the environment. But as technology progressed they put much more into graphics than they previously did and less into the story. FF9 was the pinnacle for me in terms of FF because it took story, environment and music and it all came together to create something never before seen. I disliked every FF after 9... until 13. I think 13 is great because it was a great change of pace. I loved not having to visit an inn. Ever

@Meidoification After FFX the creator of FF Hironobu Sakaguchi left Square because he literally was just tired of making FF games. This allowed Square able to experiment with the chemistry of FF so that the beloved franchise could live on. Cant blame them on the story aspect when the Creator isn't there to consult. but Square is still able to develop characters with a lot of personality and emotions, engaging battle systems, and Breathtaking HDCG environments and Heart stringing music.
