When I say they were "Memphis" boys, I am referring to the rockabilly stars that recorded for Sun Records and/or set up their adult residences and professional careers there. Elvis, Lewis, Cash, Carl Perkins, etc.
Just a truly versatile singer and piano player. Whilst I found Elvis' usual vocal style too slick for country music, Jerry retained his edge and made the transition much more impressively.
Jerry Lee has always been the best, just wild. He's never been willing to give control to anyone. I think the great talent who has ever lived in Country or Rock. He is the one, the only KILLER.

@RedAllison Ageed, the killer is far more talented.Or else why wpould I be here? But you tell by their mannerisms ( Jerry lee Mickey G and Jimmy Sw) when plugging away on the piano that they're cousins. I've heard Swaggart sing and he's not too bad. I even have a few recordings of his Gospel recordings, but I've never heard Jerry Lee behind the pulpit......yet. Maybe he's good at it being from the Bible belt. Mickey Gilley is pretty good too. my favorite is room full of roses.
@rockyrmt same reason Mickey Gilley sounds just like the Killer, all 3 of them were cousins. Swaggart is just another whore chasin preacher and Mickey, while good, never made his own music or had his own style. THE KILLER is far and away the most talented and longest lasting of the 3!!!
@haley601 WOW did not know you liked the "Killer" he is a fav of mine He Rocks!!!!! Thank you for this wonderful share my special friend your lost soul........
RIP KILLER...No one has ever done it better than the Killer! It's as good as you can get. I always see people on here talking about getting drunk and listening to music. Well it doesn't get any better than the Killer and a bottle of Jack!
Elvis and Jerry Lee were awesome at country. The King's "Country Side of Elvis" and Jerry Lee's "Killer Country" were great albums. The Memphis boys showed Nashville how to do it.
Well, technically Elvis is from Tupelo, Mississippi, but both he and Jerry Lee called Memphis home, though Jerry Lee's house is across the border near Nesbit, MS.
@uofmrebel Fair enough. Then I will defer to you knowledge on this subject. In any case, both were great talents and nobody can play the piano like Jerry Lee. Entertainers and musicians these days can't compare.
I wish I could go back to when this was being performed. Outstanding.
