  • nice job with your bird it is well trained. mine just bite, squark, poo and breed.

  • You guys are great! I will be getting a fully-feathered conure in a week and can't wait! I won't clip his wings, and will let him have full use of the house. My son and I are making a stand like you did, but I think I'll make it out of wood. Can't wait to see the rest of the videos!

  • what a beautiful video......you guys did a fantastic job....just for that i am subscribing...i think i can learn alot from you guys......

  • 2:51 that flight must scared the hell out, i thought he was flying away

  • That must have been scary, My parrot is like my brother to me.

  • wow he must really love you guys, you must take real good care of him... im too scared to do tht with my bird i just let him walk in the house and he just follows me and starts screeching out loud if i hide from him lol (((((:

  • omg what a gorgeous conure!! I want one so baaaaad.

  • you took a risk on your $400 bird you definatlly diserve thumbs up

  • k i dont know, arent u guys scared when u take him out? what if there is a crow or any other preditor? would they try to hunt them down? or would they stand down knowing that ur going protect them. any advice would be cool pls

  • I think free flight might be good when the bird (and human) is properly trained over a long time (and I would never dare to do it with anyting other than a large macaw or cockatoo), but you were lucky he didn't just disappear, since he can't have been trained if you only had him for two weeks.

  • Lol mini break =) cute bird

  • Is this a sun conure? Beautiful bird.

  • Cool vid ;) i also belong to a conure, though he was raised with clipped wings in a busy noisy pet store so hes very spookable. I keep him fully flighted cause he has such fun flying i would never wanna take it away... But if i take him outside and he gets spooked he flies up to a higher spot And wont return like he normally does. Just locks up and panics...

  • load video that works you time waster

  • Never do this, cage is also to small

  • @iguy4567 It obviously worked for Apollo, but yes it is a huge risk. That's also a carrying cage.

  • nice work there, you guys been very patient...great talent working with birds...i give you guys a 10

  • nice!

  • i dont think you should let your bird fly outside it might fly away

  • what kind of bird is he

  • @tailwhip3601 if you want but if I were you I would clip his wing or make him/she fly indoor and he/she would get use to you.

  • do you think i would be able to train a budgie to free fly?

  • this video never gets old I watched it 20 times

  • niceeeeee

  • It's best to stop before the birds gets tired of it. This way it ends on a positive note, and won't be something to dread. If you keep over working the bird, it will seem more like a "job" and not a recreational activity.

Good work though, glad he has the chance to fly around and be a bird!

  • @S0XF0X We've been flying him now for about 2 years and he's pretty much the boss. He tells us when he's done by flying back to the car or to his cage. He's a funny little guy.

  • very good trainer.

    very good bird.

i had a canary and it escaped the cage once and flew outside, but came back. Nearly gave me a heart attack coz i live in the city and it could have hit a building =/

  • beautiful bird. is it a sun conure? he is so well trained, but be careful, there is always an element of unpredictability and it takes nothing to lose a bird, and after you feel like a fool . trust me, I lost a Grey.

  • nice

  • men soo good thats so good for the first day how did you teach him to come back to you and type of bird is it hell nice

  • how come our green cheek conure was only $70 DX but it learned how to step up in a minute or two :D we got it when he was like 6 months old

  • Soo um i had this cockatiel and well it was really smart because we didn't have a cage for it so we just used news papers he wold never go outide the box we showed him my dad once took him out and then brought him back in i bet he was thinking he was good enough to go alone so my dad's siter let him out on mistake and we never saw him again :(

POSSIBLY THE SMARTEST BIRD EVER IS GONE!!!!!!

trust me on thi it is smart lol

  • fabulous and well done boys :) i have brought a 4 yr patagonian conure , ive had him for 8 wks and still cant touch him,:( hes so vicious but im working on him :) carry on with the great work boys xxxx

  • Wow. Amazing. He has beautiful feathers too.

  • Apollo is a very beautiful bird! :3

  • thats pretty awesome mate

  • @LawrenceLugar1 why not? I carry a handgun usually though.

  • @LawrenceLugar1 why is it a redneck thing to say? A shotgun is the only thing you can use to protect against hawks. I guess you should just let a hawk take a $400 pet that you want to be free to take outside.

  • Get a shotgun in case of hawks.

  • I love all your videos and I think you've done an amazing job with Apollo considering your lack of experience before getting him. I was wondering if you have considered getting a larger bird, such as a macaw, for you to train??

  • @sddougherty I'd love to have a larger bird but my house wouldn't be comfortable for him to fly in. I don't have any big open rooms. Apollo is plenty for me to handle for the time being. He's a crazy little guy.

  • i tryed it i took my cockatiel bird outside but he just flew away forever

  • Yeah you need to be careful. It was a lot of luck for me. I recommend going to the free flight group on yahoo before flying.

  • @bilaremix hahaha awww how sad. i have a Red- Lored Amazon and he isn't trained to fly. i live on a high level house like up high and he kainda slipt from my hand im not to sure how it happen but he flew and i lost site of him i thought i lost him forever but i ran down my street and he started calling my name i guess he could see me but i couldn't see him till i finally saw him way up in a tree and i climd all the way up to get him i was so happy wen i got him

  • Hawks are really dangerous they took my 5 kilo rabbit and flew away into his nest and they eat him :(

  • what kind of a bird is that?

  • I would be terrified of letting my green cheek free fly

  • I have an 8 month green cheek conure. I've been toying with the idea of trying to fly him, but i have no idea how to teach the recall. Any suggestions you could make would be very helpful.

  • dont you mean you hope he doesnt fly away not run away???lol

  • freakin awesome :)

  • that rocks

  • what kinda bird is apollo?

  • Comment removed

  • balzy :)

  • I also want to warn about hawks.

  • Yes, flying a bird outside is like swimming in shark infested waters, you need to pay close attention to incoming danger. We always have at least two people when flying, both people plus the bird are constantly scanning the skies. Apollo is usually the first to spot danger and he flies for my shirt and dives in.

  • i wanna teach my bird to fly to my hands but not inside.. i wanna do it inside, how would i trian my birf, its a cockatiel..

  • please watch out for hawks. birds can see from amazing heights and distances. you maybe in an open field but a hawk can be lurking from quite a distance. I too have a sun ad they are the most beautiful birds.

  • ur bird is so cute i really love all birds theyr so cute

  • Cool! :D

  • Apollo is a beautiful Sunny, I wish you good health with him. Please be careful.

  • sooo bad ass dude i wish mine did that but i dont wanna loose my birdy , she doesnt even have wings lol

  • we use to have two sun conures that we would let sit outside in on of our trees out in the yard and they would never leave that spot

  • Wow nice video! And pretty looking bird! I had a cockatile whih sadly died...I only never dared to try this with him....I was too scared he would fly away.

    Greetings from Amsterdam Holland!

  • this just scares me, I had a sun conure that i lost doing this, i hope he/she made it out here in florida. but i do have a sun conure now that has free flight in bird room of mine and he shares with my nanday conure. I hope you are careful with him please.

  • Love this!! Shiloh my Sun Conure is also free flighted, I love to see them in full flight. Good job working on him.

  • That is very irresponsible. I hope people watching this don't try this at home. Also, a bird is barely comfortable with his surroundings in 2 weeks. You are mean.

  • In retrospect it probably wasn't a good idea to take him outside so soon. He wasn't too used to us. It is important to note that his old owners flew him in at home for 2 years before we got him. From day one of having him we flew him in a gym.

He now flies once a week at the park. We've been doing this for over a year now and there are thousands of other bird owners doing the same

Clipping a birds wings is mean. If you don't want your pet to fly, GET A PUPPY.

  • i have a question, why is clipping a birds wings mean, i mean i have a sun to and he has his wings clipped, because if i would ever take him outside and he would fly away maybe an eagle or a hawk would come down and kill him, or a noise would spook him and he would fly away. Clipping wings is not mean, its just for safety, fr you and your bird. P.S. especially for conures its not that big of a deal since there more of climbers anyway

  • Your bird is designed head to toe for flight. His heart, his muscles, his brain, his feathers and even his bones are designed for flight. To deprive him of it would be like depriving a child of his right to use his legs.

Unfortunately, most bird owners don't know how to handle a flighted bird. Several bird owners and I are putting together a blog to teach the advantages and dangers of keeping a fully flighted bird. I'll let you know when it's up.

  • but then again, if you dont know how to handle a flighted bird than it will take advantage of that, even when it has it wings clipped it can still flap around, it just cant fly high and far away

  • i hope that was his carry cage right?

  • It's instinctive for them to want to stay with said "flock." One thing you might take into consideration however is if you have hawks in your area because that could be a nice snack for a predator. I have had friends that lost their bird that way although I never did, I am always hesitant to take my GCC out.

  • Yes, when we first started flying Apollo we were pretty careless about it. We let him fly close to trees like you see here. Since then we have found a better place to fly him. We use the soccer field in the middle of a park. If there are any birds bigger than him in the sky, we don't let him fly.

  • holy shit, how the hell did u teach him to that?

  • bullshit more like 2 years unless some one had him b4 u

  • agree! new birds take about a month just to get used to u!!!! training it to do free flight in two weeks is pretty unbelievable .....

  • The bird was almost 2 when we got him

  • lol I love appolo, he is so fun to play with.

  • awsome man, that bird is realy cute

    u should get harnes..
