Antarctic blizzard at Halley Base

from what I understand, antartica is the driest place on Earth. A blizzard is wind that is picking up snow that has been around for hundreds of years.

@mtpaley1 Yes it was summer 02/03 We had a 6 day blow just at end of season. Had fun times also at Z5. You any plans to head back?

@jata03 Thanks for the info - and the video. I've had other brand cameras get sluggish or quit way before -16. Salt sea air is not kind, either. Rhode Island's record cold was -27, no wind. My 283 Chevy sounded like a Singer sewing machine. Airplanes on final sounded like they were landing on top of me. I feel sorry for the engines in that cold.

What brand of camera can last long enough to shoot a video in those conditions?

Is there a way to prepare a camera for a walk outside? I'll tell ya, it warms my 'cold' room just watching this video.

@Catdore I was using a JVC mini digital camcorder with nothing special done to it other than wrapping it in cling film. It was about -16 with a 60 knot wind blowing which made staying on your feet tricky but a real buzz to experience it. Thanks for your comment.
