I was 18 in 1968. Looking back I realize more each day, how i am so fricking fortunate to have lived through such a rich rich batch of singer/songwriters- simon, prine, van, lightfoot, waits, zevon, kristoferson, haggard, clark, axton, jj cale, fogerty, nick lowe, jimmy buffett, neil young, willie, Nilsson, John Hiatt, Mcmurtry.,John and Paul.....to name just a few.

great tune, fantastic lyrics love it, i'am just about to step outside to smoke me self a jay.turn it up and enjoy. what a fantastic album graceland was, one of my all time favourite albums, thats what got me into older paul simon stuff, i feel he is a true legend.......
@rennieallen agreed my friend. I left work tired as hell and it came on i was moving and tapping the steering wheel driving home instantly alert and happy!!!! Thanks
Steve Gadd lays down the coolest drum beat in the universe on this tune. The fidelity is weak though. Listen to the version on One Trick Pony or Negotiations and Love Songs, you will hear the higher fidelity. Worth a listen.
hah, well spotted. It's a pretty similar figure... but it's pretty much what you play on this type of rhythm. It wouldn't surprise me if it was Earth Wind and Fire playing horns on both tracks... those guys got everywhere :-)
Nope, I'm an old guy. Just comparing. Another funny thing is Paul did "me and Julio" on Sesame Street. I don't think that's a good song for a kiddie show.
@looprevil100 Tony also played with King Crimson on 4 albums in the early 80's. Very original, experimental bass player. Adrian Belew, another member of King Crimson, played with Paul on the Graceland/Rhythm of the Saints albums.
