Seems like the marimba enjoyed a period of popularity in the late 70's and early 80's with a certain type of 'art pop' musician. Peter Gabriel, Sakamoto, Japan, Tears for Fears.
Sakamoto apparently didn't enjoy the collaboration with Robin Scott on this LP, but for me this is one of those songs that connects so completely it becomes spiritual.
Believe it or not I associate this song with Holland! I listened to this with earbuds as I walked around Amsterdam. I turned a corner and there were street performers all over a square, acrobats flipping in the air, men swallowing torches, belching fire, but the only thing I heard was this. While empires are crumbling...
interesting trivia there about Sakamoto an.d Scott not getting along.. where did you read/hear this? i´d like to know a lot more about this album.. last not least Belew is on it as well.. dreamteam. actually
