  • Miss you Mark

  • @marcdude182 Your Dad sounds like an awesome man!! I, too, have to give thanks to MY parents amazing taste in music and bringing me up the right way as far as that goes. And now,I'm passing on the torch....not only does has my 13yr old son known the lyrics to a few of Marc's songs but also knows several word for word by Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin since he was 8yrs old. I am oh so proud of him! Haha..in his school yearbook last year he had to list his favorites...his song listed was "Jeepster".

  • The greatest artist since Leonardo da Vinci

  • @marcdude182 ya have a cool dad....squeak!!!!

  • Thank you for the post.

  • Ive loved T-Rex for like 'Ever!' Such a shame my friends have never heard of them...... I may just have to blare this from the speakers next time i see them.... :D

  • I know that nobody will care about that, but Im 13 years old and I'm listening all this music (Bowie, Roxy Music, Eno, T-Rex, Suzi Quatro...) since I was 11, and I'm proud of not being a bieber fan like an 98% of girls on my grade. I wish I was born in another year, country and PLANET.

  • @StardustDiamondRebel I CARE, YOUR GLAM ROCK FAB xx

  • I can remember me and my friend bunking off school one day and sitting outside his house in Little venice, he came out looked at us and smiled, but we where to scared to go over to him LOL

  • @NormanLake1 except for the fact it's too short! another minute or so would make it perfect!!

  • much better than his radio friendly bang-a-gong

  • makes me hate Xfactor even more as i missed out on proper music of the 70s an 80s

  • Oh My God it's nearly 1 year anniversary for this song!!! 19th Dec. 2010 - 19th Dec. 2011!!! :O Time has gone by soooo fucking fast! :( I miss the last year...

  • wish i grew up in the 70s - 80s music was good.

  • Who else but Bolan

  • society does not allow bands like this when drugs stopped so did the music, what a shame

  • Love this song!

  • It makes me fucking sick that I had to watch an ad for 'pop party 9' before I watched this incredible piece of art

  • a high class teen favorite with original style, knowing what else was on offer in late 60´s and early 70´s; more than bubblegum (The Archies, Cuff Links.....) ; started as Tyrannosaurus Rex

  • How can someone possibly dislike this???

  • Man these guys kicked ass!!!! Long live the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, and anthing before today´s music, because now music SUCKS!!!!

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • Marc bolan fucking talented man

  • bloody brilliant!!

  • I got a photo of me an a white swan...true story... :)

  • @shakeexon ive got a pic of me and my brother on a big pink flamingo and thats not a metaphor......... true story xx

  • Bolan's knock out Hot Love super hit wham bam swooped in on Germany and infiltrated millions of ears in 1971. His earlier hit Ride a White was the 2nd song that I freaked out over. I couldn't believe my ears on how pretty it sounded, 30 years later I recognised the true genius behind the smooth and pretty sounds, poetically and musically, Bolan was something outta this world.

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • 34 years ago today!

  • Someone accused Marc of only knowing 7 chords, to which Tony Visconti replied, "Do you need any more?" Love ya, Marc! Your music lives on. Sorry we lost you far too soon. Beautiful boy.

  • I present a breakfast show on radio and T-Rex is probably the most featured and requested artist. Marc Bolan may be gone physically but he will live on down the decades through his magnificent music.

  • Why doesn't this video automatically loop? You'd save my finger some time.

  • Brilliant song. Marc Bolan ? What a genius!

  • u hav NOOOO IDEAA how long ive been looking for this song omg

  • My dad HATES this song. Good thing I don't agree. :) Its a happy song

  • Wonder what fantastic music would have followed had he not died so young, love T REX

  • CLASS!!!!

  • This is perfect . Long live the 70s

  • @stevenjohnray lol...the only good thing about the 70s mate they ended at 1980 .. in the 60s british music was flying high... in the 70s it came back to earth with a bang ... the 80s it started to pick its self up again...only to be totally dead ever since about 1990....still a good upload for nostalgia if nothing else...

  • @MrFedupwiththis Lol, if you didn't like the 70s mate, you were doing something wrong. I loved every minute of it.

  • @stevenjohnray T rex, Slade !

  • They don't come much better than this

  • so this is why I love Johnny Depp?

  • @NeeChee100 whats johnny depp got to do with this song ?

  • cathy!!!

  • Fantastic!!

  • Where are the modern talents to compare to guys like Marc? they're just watered down garbage in comparison....

  • @johnny991965

I think the difference these days is that the notion of instant stardom rules. Win a talent show and you are a star,,,,, the same old boring crap over and over again. Bolan developed his alta ego over time and he was among the first to come up with glam rock. The band Tyranosaurus Rex as it was know then did not have instant stardom, they had to build their own fan base. I remember them being booed at a pop festival after they released this song because .. cont'd.......

  • Respond to this video...

because 'they had gone plastic' , such was the inverted snobbery at the time. Bolan addressed the crowd then the band continued with their spot and within minutes they had won the crowd back. He was brilliant and, yes, he could play that guitar. Unlike many of his kind at the time he was not killed by drugs or riotous living but a tragic car accident in which he was a passenger.

I hope he got to ride that white swan.

  • THIS WAS WHERE MY LIFE STARTED,a Friend bought me this record for my 15th Birthday AND FROM THEN ON T,REX and i were inseperable.1977 soon came and the demise of my idol.IM still here and Marc is still in my heart. His Songs Carrying Me thru lifes ups and downs.Thank You Marc for being there..xx Lifes a Gas.xx

  • @nicistyx Hey I was 17 in 1977, I know how you feel. It's good to know there's still fans out there who remember. Hugs to you!

  • best song ever

  • This song is made entirely out of good advice.

  • I wish i could go back in time and marry Marc Bolan! He was just so amazing V3

  • YEAH!

  • Is there a Top Of The Pops version of this?

  • @dianebozo not sure, but there is a BBC version that rocks, also for Cadillac and Jeepster,PEACE!

  • I love it

  • omg brilliant, havent heard this for years :) thankyou , youve made an old woman happy :)

  • Goldfrapp sent me here :D

  • da da de de daa da da de de daa da da de de daaa

  • Wonderful guy and his finest moment !

  • still kicks!

  • First up Hot Love coaxing and then White Swan riding, snared for all time by a Beltaine wizard is what follows.

  • Catch a bright and you place it on your forehead . . . say a few spells and baby there you go . . . take a black cat and you sit it on our shoulder . . . and in the morning you'll know all you'll know . . . WOW!! Who puts stuff like this down on paper - no body does this anymore, I don't think anyone can. We have lost sight of the prize. Bolan never did. Money, top of the pops, and sensation was never on Marc' s agenda. Bolan, like all other great artisans, created to create :-)

  • @danalovesjoe5555 bollox, he had a knack for making bullshit sound epic. Dont make it out anything more than it is.

  • @danalovesjoe5555

Yep, Bolan/TRex fan from the first...they were supposed to come to NZ in 1971 but it got cancelled, I was utterly gutted...Marc was a Poet and Magician...

  • Excellent !

Tout comme la BO de Billy Elliot, film extra.

  • Ah, that funny little bass line... so awesome...

  • Marc Bolan: Fucking GENIUS

  • weird

  • @41100justinbieber you're the weirdo not appreciating real talent, go back listen to some rnb chav urban flava crap.

  • Is it my imgination , or in one of the pictures is he actually wearing what looks like "girls shoes" . Not that I would knock it if he is . I used to always wear tights despite being a man .

  • @2100Rose Yes, at 0:33, he appears to be wearing "Mary Jane" shoes, I noticed that, too :)

  • 5 people got pecked by a swan

  • I hate when people are like "im 22 and i enjoy trex who gives a shit honestly" in a futile attempt for thumbs up.

  • @MrChrissyh And yet it worked........ ;-)

  • Who ever thinks this is terrible, they should switch on Radio 1 and see what utter crap they play more or less 24/7.

  • Amazing track - this is what you call talent - not the crap you get mass produced today

  • Hi-yer !

Da Da Di Di Daaa -Cha un Cha,Da Da Di DiDaaa !

    T.Rexellent.

Only Marc could pull that off.

    Peace out man.

    Cheesy.

  • So cool and so timeless. What a blessing his being with us, even for such a short time, was. Fabulous!!!

  • play that guitar!!!

  • @kenseiden88

    Yeh!

    Try play that guitar .

Bollocks ...... I've tried 30 years playing , but,I can only get close , the Rex man was a genius , finger plcker extrordinaire.

    Game on Marc Bolan.

    Cheesy.

  • @ooohcheese The music was far beyond the time it was made or is the music made now just that crap?!!!

  • @kenseiden88

I think I'm with you , now it really is crap and I don't think this is just old age talking.

  • Wish this was released yesterday! That would make this the best musical era ever!

  • my fav T-Rex song, just the swagger alone makes u feel cool as fook!

  • @TurtlesDoNotHaveFur It was a statement more than anything else, and anyway certain bands and artists were practically made to be apreciated and compared.

  • What album was this off? Or was it only a single?

  • @TheMirrorMystic It was a single.

  • @TheMirrorMystic

    Behave.

    Cheesy.

  • Oh yeah, heard it when it it came out and was strange to hear such, and only on FM here in Chicago. Sad, the excesses of the times took their toll and auto accidents added to youths' quick exit. Thanks for a grand memory anyway, quite a journey back!

  • i was 12 when i listened to this

  • @TheSpicyBananas

    I was dancing when i was 12.

  • I'm 19 and I enjoy T. Rex.

  • lol @ schoettle123- why be so elitist, do you honestly think that your experience is more valid? isn't in your interest to embrace anyone that would share your interests? it doesn't matter this way or that - time is a blink and we're all destroyed. cheers to the song bolan always reaches me.

  • Mark Bolan or David Bowie that is the question. David Bowie did some amazing, quality music, but for me it's Mark Bolan all the way.

  • @midjh

    defintely!

    x

  • love the pics man tanx

  • Now this is english music! Not fucking girls aloud or shitty tinie tempah. This is the real british movie unlike todays shitty pop music. And this is coming from a 16 year old!

  • What happened to british music ? its so bad now, bad hip hop over original artists. there actually is no longer british music just

  • @TheSaoirse777 bad british hip hop (is equavalint to listening to russian rap in the states)over original artists.

  • Fantastic!

  • I wanna be free like a bird XD

  • @MJItalyKid91 Don't we all :D

  • God knows how many times I have listened to this over the last couple of days , but if I had &5.00 for every time then I would be rich by now .

  • Never realised it was T Rex that did this . Have to admit for what songs of theres I know , and lord there are not many , so far , this is the only one I have ever liked . Top notch .

  • Fuck I love this song. This and bang a gong are my two faves, but all of T Rex's music is amazing!

  • got this on vinyl best single iv ever bought

  • 4 people wasent allowed to ride the white swan

  • Billy Elliot had the best Soundtrack! The Clash and T-Rex - so sensational.

  • @Igglesnoop Spot on.It was a brilliant soundtrack.Any forty something man (or woman) knows this is the soundtrack to their lives.God knows we didnt have much else in the 70s and 80s.All we had was music but thank god it was bloody good music.

  • @metalgearsolid20111 maybe that's why there was talented, quality music then, unlike now.

  • @Igglesnoop wasnt it the jam? not the clash

  • @joefrench555 i was wondering where the clash song was in that film, dosnt ring a bell, but it was a few years ago i watched it. the jam was a' town called mallice' i think. correct me if im wrong someone please.

  • @MrTillyayre @joefrench555 The Jam was in it with 'A Town Called Malice' but The Clash had 'London Calling' in the movie as well.

  • @Igglesnoop oh ok fair play. i dont remember that bit. now im gonna have to watch the film again, and the mrs is gonna give it the old "why you watchin billy elliot"??

  • Marc Bolan was a GENIUS

  • by ma best m8

  • by ma best m8 jasperabove

  • You don't know how much I love this song. You need to be careful with swans, they can be ever so dangerous. (I will take the piss out of my Year 2 teacher if I like.)

  • My favorite of theirs. Along with Cosmic Dancer. They make me dance. :)

  • Mika's grandpa, Donovan's son

  • @acoronab Brian May's brother don't forget that! ;) :p

  • @SilverHammerMax1 Is that true

  • Mika's grandpa

  • Love it - remember the 70's great times - loved every minute. Classic - T Rex

  • i have this aswell as all of his other albums on vynil. i know ride a white swan is quite rare...never find it on a compilation C.D.

  • @yipperdyyapperdy2 I got it on a compilation C.D, I Typed in Marc Bolan & T.Rex Greatest Hits into Google Shopping and I got it on Tesco Entertainment.

  • Brilliant song! :) what T Rex album can i get this on?
