@SL4GW4GG3N Although this guy has called it Voodoo Chile, the song is actually called Voodoo Child(slight return). Voodoo Chile is a slow 15 minute blues jam by Jimi Hendrix which led to Voodoo Child(slight return). Voodoo Child being the more structured song. This version is Voodoo Child. Voodoo Child is similar to Machine Gun which Jimi used to play at his live shows. Hope this helped :)
thank America for youtube the internet, Stevie ray, jimi Hendrix ,fender, fender stratocaster, Texas, Seattle, blues, Jazz, and voodoo Chile to mention a few.
Who ever dont think that stevie didnt jamn is an idiot @papmjny. Jimmy was before his time and he picked up where Jimmy left off, and unfortantly no one could pick it up after Stevie.
@bengalsfan97 Who dey Motha fucka!!!! cincinnati! but hey dude, it was actually a mistake on the ablum from jimi. electric lady land had voodoo chile, a 12 bar jam with a oragn accompaniment and voodoo child (slight return) was this up beat return to close the album. it's a common misunderstanding
You cant really do coke and then perform on stage, provided that his sets were longer than 20-30 minutes, which they were. You'd play fantastic for a while, but then you'd come down, and you'd feel and play like absolute shit.
Did you shed a tear when you heard he was gone? Honestly I did, I felt like we just lost a true legend on guitar, and though I suppose he was not a fan of Cadillac cars like I am, he still played like no one else, with the soul of Jimi
The musical holy Grail folks: where endless natural talent, relentless pursuit and passion for excellence and SOUL come together. Wow! He was IT. My brain just imploded during the feedback with the whammy bar at the end....holy crap. You're so greatly missed Stevie. Rave on.
just an allaround great artist, The strings he use to play most of todays's "artist" could not even strum more less bend and shread with style....... wow
@papmjny - "Another poor Hendrix copy"? Oh, you poor sad creature! Every true artist, yes, even the Great Jimi Hendrix, built on what came before them. This man, Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan, is indeed one of the true artists in this world of wanna-bees. Few, if any can come close to this level of skill, perseverance, and raw, unfettered talent. Open your eyes, man, there is greatness before you and you do not even see it!
@TheSkunkbelly i'd say this. jimi created and played this song amazingly. and even if i get in flames, my ears tell me every time that stevie ray vaughan made voodo child perfect. he fixed jimi's very litlle lacks.
This is simply SRV paying tribute. He is not a wannabee. They were both great artists with hugely different backgrounds and upbringings. Trying to compare who was better is really just a matter of taste. Throw in Clapton and Rory Gallagher as well as a dozen other true originals and it is still the case. It is not a battle for supremacy ( to them anyway) They were and are just doing their thing. Just enjoy.
@Journeydakyubi Well, it happened. At least Jimi died the mythical rock star death. In fact I think he originated it. Followed later by Bon Scott and John Bonham.
@bubbiesdad right, its a tragedy. but they were all doing crazy stuff back then, and its the music and his stage presence that will be remembered, not the asphyxiation.
@bubbiesdad A lot of people played with their lives experimenting with drugs, I believe it was a deadly cocktail for Hendrix, Booze and pills that caused his demise
he was jesus on guitar this is easily as good as hendrix,s version fucking shame what happened to stevie imagine if he was still alive what he would have accomplished he would have been untouchable
LONG LIVE THE MEMORY OF SRV......He pretty much came to closets to Hendrix. Even closer than Robin Trower or Frank Marino. I don't think any other guitar player can come the closet to VOODOO CHILE Like Stevie. I don't think Robin Trower ever played Voodoo Chile. What's great about blues....these fancy gutiar players like Buckethead, Halen, Satriani with all of their tricks cannot come close to the SOUL of the blues. I heard Buckethead do Voodoo Chile. Sorry, not even close. lol
i wonder if SRV ever took shrooms and had a sudden burst of creativity on the guitar... if i was there when it happened my head probably would have exploded
Jimi didn't die in 1970 he used time travel, dematerialized himself and traveled to the year 1984, where he materialized in the hands of good 'ol Steve. Steve did the same, yet he's waiting to materialize in the hands of someone.

This is by far Stevie's best version of Voodoo Child. I haven't heard or seen any other guitarist play this song better than he did other than Jimi Hendrix. What a fuckin monster.
He won the stars in millions of peoples eyes. Him and Hendrix are the two biggest reasons people pick up guitars. They are some of the biggest influences on everyone. You have to be good to bring back a dead Genre, SRV brought back the Blues from the dead, he himself revitalized that genre, and also changed the world with how he played the guitar. srv is the very reason y i write music and play the blues on my black maple neck gold hardware American made Texas deluxe stratocaster, i love ya Stieve, may your spirit live on for ever
MjaTheNoob i totally agree with your favorites. my opinion switch those up a little bit. I think Hendrix should be first. Its different you know fans of Metallica think Kirk Hammet's the greatest, fans of AC/DC think Angus Young is the greatest people have to think of guitarist who really influenced music hugely and your five really did i agree with your favorites!!
It was suppose to be Chile, but it really doesn't matter anyway. It's basically the same thing, why get so petty over little spelling mistakes. It's not the title of the song that really matters, it is the genius and master playing it in that video.
Saw him in 1985 at the Civic Center in Des Moines, Ia. He is not from this planet. Words cannot describe his talent, music and passion. #1 on my list !
Wtf is up with the crowd?

MjaTheNoob i totally agree with your favorites. my opinion switch those up a little bit. I think Hendrix should be first. Its different you know fans of Metallica think Kirk Hammet's the greatest, fans of AC/DC think Angus Young is the greatest people have to think of guitarist who really influenced music hugely and your five really did i agree with your favorites!!

This song is Voodoo Chile. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is a slightly different but mostly shorter version (around 5 min)

Wrong! This IS Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Voodoo Chile is completely different song.(15 min Blues Jam)

It was suppose to be Chile, but it really doesn't matter anyway. It's basically the same thing, why get so petty over little spelling mistakes. It's not the title of the song that really matters, it is the genius and master playing it in that video.
