The background rhythm for the headlines make it sound hyped like a local news broadcast. Maybe I only notice because I'm listening on headphones... But at least they kept the same "The Mission" tune intact; they didn't turn it into weaksauce like the updated MTP theme.

@samjarris Are you sure it's tracking technology? If I was asked to set up such an effect, I'd just point a video projector at the floor :-p. Then again, I don't work in news production...
@FullMentalPanic After rewatching it, I think you are right. If you look at the upper corner of the Today graphic, you will see a glare, that is from the projector shining right over the floor. The way you would get these graphics to pop is by using the same technology used on football games. Basically, when you see the '1down' graphic on field itself, that is called motion tracking. I see the Today graphic is not as crisp as it could be with motion tracking, this is a projection.You're right :)
0:47 I really enjoy how they almost make the feather have a magical, alive feeling about itself, like it's looking around, then the rest follows. The music does feel a bit more subdued, but it works.
at 0:50 I wish the yellow peacock feather wiped around to reveal the entire NBC logo. Instead it all just slides in. Meh. Although I like the colors and the use of 3D shapes.

The music is very cool. I think the transition between the NBC News logo and Today Show logo was much smoother on the previous version however.
