Paul Tergat has confessed in a very recent interview that one of the greatest disappointments in his life was to lose this race. He said he wanted to win a gold medal for Kenya and that he prepared himself so well and trained extremely hard for many months in order to win this 10000m race. Everybody in this video can see the sadness on his face. In spite of that, he congratulated Haile for his victory. Paul Tergat is truly a gentleman. It's a fucking shame he didn't win.

I can run a 5K in 21 minutes. for me at least, that elevates these runners to a higher level of being and greatness that puts me in a state of awe and wonder. what was haile's time 27 minutes? that is beyond speed, that's all heart.

Paul Tergat is the all time distance running KING,no question about that.he's won all major championships in the world but an olympic gold medal.I wish he could try next year's olympics in beijing tho age is catching up with him.I wanna see another showdown between paul & haile.that will be one heck of a race.Tergat is my all time hero.

I meet Paul Tergat in london at London marathon ball, he is a nice man who cares a lot about his country. Its shame he was around when Haile was around. But Haile is no match for Paul Tergat in Cross-country. After all Paul Targat won 5 World Cross-country titles and Haile did not.

My 2 fave long distance runners :) It's really a shame for him that Hailie was around, he would've been the dominant force...but he was always the bridesmaid to Hailie! Both are such nice guys (maybe Tergat even more so :))

One of the best races in the history of the sport. Both Haile and Paul are excellent men and have been great reps for the sport.  Enjoy every race that these two run for the next couple of years. They are the two finest distance runners that have ever lived and are nearing the end of their careers. Appreciate it.
