  • How to go viral with your video overnight this is 100% guaranteed to deliver 1500 views per night while you sleep Y2BVIEWS com.

  • STAND STILL!! or SIT DOWN!! I love you but I had to take motion sickness pills.

  • Omg.. You're gonna lose that girl - the bongo part.

When I first heard the boxset I realized that I never even NOTICED the bongos before. I actually thought they were a track that had been turned down all the way and was added back into the remastered but no, it's in the original version.. just sounds stands out so much better.

And Pauls basslines. Really proves that he is one of the single greatest writers of bass music in mainstream music history. Not so complicated but best for the songs.

  • I bought the Abbey Road and Let It Be Remastered albums and compared them with the older albums. In the car not really sure if I noticed a diff. Come Together actually sounded better before imo. The bass is too ridiculously loud. With the earbuds, I only noticed subtle differences...mainly the remastered versions being louder. That's it.

  • Penn Jillette = Sony's in-house Billy Mays. Expresses fanaticism for stuff only when repackaged and sold by Sony on his "personal video blog."

  • Penn your making me dizzy, keep still!

  • Clean your cam lens Penn!

  • the beatles will forever be the BEATLES.

  • Actually Paul McCartney Told Michael Jackson To Start Buying Music Catalogs While Him And Michael Were Working On Paul McCartneys Pipes Of Peace Album, Michael Went Behind Pauls Back And Bought The Beatles Catalog, Even Tho He Knew Paul Was Going To Make A Bid On Them And Recover What Was Rightfully His And His Band Mates Music

  • You're more of a Dylan guy? I knew you were a man after my own heart. I have 14 Dylan albums; just in my CD case. And I'm about to see him live in a few days. Talk about anticipation.

  • wow... i thought i was geeky, but buying both version? And then listening to them back to back? You are awesome Penn.

  • penn you sony WHORE!

  • He's talking about Rick Rubin.

  • Agreed 100%. Examples please.

  • This one was completely uninteresting, and I love Penn and like the Beatles a lot...

  • There's a spot on your lens... It's very distracting.

  • lol i didnt notice, i thought it was just shadow

  • MJ bought the Beatles songs back in the '80s and it did cost him his friendship with Paul, who never spoke to him again. From what I understand, when Jackson got himself into financial trouble years later he sold or was a partner with Sony in the Beatles catalog. So as of his death I think its something like Sony owns a certain percentage, and Jackson's estate owns the rest...

As for the remastered CDs, can't get them for now, but if someone who knows me feels generous around x-mas..

  • He is on drugs

  • "He is on drugs"...Or a fucking merry-go-round!

Fuck! STAND STILL FOR A MINUTE!

I'd like for him to list an example where Ringo's playing "drifts on the beat". Ringo is one of the most highly regarded pocket players in music!

  • I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, but I don't have the roughly $150 for remasters box. Must be nice to be able to get the mono and the stereo ones even when you're not a fan eh Penn.

  • I don't know where Penn got his information. The Beatles (or George Martin, really) mixed in stereo at least as far back as Rubber Soul, if I'm not mistaken. Definitely by the time of Sgt Pepper. Maybe Penn is confused because they continued releasing Mono versions of the albums, but that's because many record players in those days couldn't play stereo records properly.

  • Does Penn enjoy anything that's not owned by Sony?

  • haha - the contract forbids it!

Joking aside - of course he does - see his thoughts on Dick Dale, Katy Perry (left Sony before her first hit), Wayne's World - you should definitely check out Penn's original post on the Stooges from back in July where he talks about Sony not letting him know about the new DVD releases

  • Penn is dead on. They sound incredible, I haven't heard all of them yet, but what I have heard has blown me away.

  • Man. I wish I could afford the box-set /craziness

  • I'm sorry but I like the original sounds of the Beatles better

  • Whassa matter? Baby can't stand his bands being mocked so he resorts to empty INTERNET TOUGH GUY LOL XD comments to defend them?

Fucking pathetic. Crawl back into whatever hole you came out of. 4chan no doubt.

  • hehe..you really know when penn is into something when throughout the video he steps back and forth from the camera while he talks

  • You actually had to pay for something? Are you trying to get your money back with these advertisements?

  • talk about restlessness. Sun too hot for you? Tehee

  • so fucking tired of these advertisements.

  • agreed. I just hit refresh right when the page loads up, skips the stupid ads.

  • are you talking about the Youtube ad, or Penns ad for the Beatles? jk I love the Beatles

  • You're completely drifting on the listen if you think RIngo is anything but rock solid. One of the best rock drummers of all time.

  • Please tell me you are kiddin'.

  • I'm totally not kidding. He's not a flashy drummer like Neil Peart or the heavy metal guys, and he's not a jazz drummer. But if you listen, really listen, to the Beatles albums, he gets a really bad rap as the least talented member. The guy's drumming has a quality most drummers don't even think about: perfectly appropriate to the given song and rock solid.

  • Ringo is an amazing drummer! Beatles songs are full of little flourishes here and there of unusual drumming. He was very creative. And listen to 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. How many other drummers would play a rhythm like that for that sort of song? People dismiss him because he never did the fancy show-off sort of percussion, but the fancy stuff ruins a lot of music.

  • Ringo's drumming on 'Rain' is still considered by most to be one of the best drum tracks ever recorded. It usually makes the top ten list of best drumming tracks selected by other drummers. 'Tomorrow Never Knows' is another outstanding track, I agree.

  • "selected by other drummers"

    There's your problem!

    :D

  • @memnoker you're right!

  • @memnoker so true.

  • Yeah, the mastering on the original releases was awful. i can't believe it took so long to get them out, though there were some songs remastered for the anthology.

  • I LOVE the Beatles. However after listening I really think a big part of the WOW that people are missing is 2 things. The remasters are louder than the 1987 versions and also we are so used to listening to lossy MP3's that when you actually drop a CD in of COURSE it sounds amazing and far better. If you actually adjust the volume on both CD's to match you'll find it's NOT a whole huge difference. While I'm no audiophile there are reviews from a bunch that agree with me. But the music still rocks

  • At this point, I am sick and tired of the Beatles.

The Media jerks keep trying to sell it to us, as if the Beatles were gods.

It is good music for teenagers.

  • Are you insane? I bet you're one of those people who have only heard early Beatles stuff. They are the greatest band to ever live, and I certainly didn't come to that conclusion through the media.

  • Come on......I am sure they are a great band. But I don't worship them.

  • you do know they grew up right? o.o;;

  • I am not a fan of the early Beatles stuff however their later stuff is just awesome. SGT Peppers and The Magical Mystery Tour are two of my all time favorite albums.

  • should start watching bleach penn.

  • Really? No mention at all about the Cheap Trick/Sgt. Pepper concert? Is this because of your sponsors? Please say it ain't so! I saw it two times and loved it! Gave me much more respect for Cheap Trick.

  • hide the body, dress like a clown, and cry for the loss... or knot

  • dress like a clown and screen woop diii dooo

  • Put them in context. They were 60s and 70s music. Lighter than the harder, more electronic music. They were good. Excellent for the time. I haven't seen much that be better or more lasting. Maybe they weren't the BEST BAND OF ALL TIMES!!!! but very few come closer. MAYBE U2, but only maybe.

  • Far as I know Michael Jackson owned the rights to all the Beatles music. He beat Paul McCarney to the punch and buy them. It cost MJ his friendship with Paul. They made some videos together and sang several songs. They were great.

MJ was good on business(sometimes)but he shouldn't have done that. Friendship is worth more than money. And they could have made a LOT more music together.

  • Yes and what happened? We were bombarded with Beatle music in advertising. learning to associate them with products.

    Michael Jackson was a punk.

  • I agree with Rolling Stone Magazine: anyone who doubts Ringo's ability to drum should try to drum "Birthday." Granted, Ringo himself didn't exactly master it, but...

  • What else? 5-Star all the songs on Rock Band: Beatles on the instruments. ... I kid, I kid....

  • I'll tell you what else. Watch Wondershowzen.

  • I love the Stooges and the Beatles!! Are you in prison?

  • ...why?

  • Did they finally do a stereo version of 'She loves you'? Or was that only on a single?

  • here is my question, would someone listening on an iPod be able to tell the difference?

  • Probably not. It all depends on the quality the song and the headphones/ear buds you have. For a 128kps song on standard iPod ear buds.. I doubt you'll notice a difference. 320kps with some aftermarket headphones.. probably will notice it.

  • The Beatles remastered mono just blew me away!! It really is unbelievable how great they now sound.

  • I've bought the beatles albums on vinyl(sometimes twice), then 8 track tape, cassette tape, CD, remastered CD, Anthologies and now I have to buy them again to listen in stereo? I wish technology would knock it off!

  • Penn - I very much agree - the new CDs sound, well, er, Fab! :) So happy I've bought the stereo ones, and I too am waiting on a Mono box.

Side Note - funny that the ad running before this vlog was for the US Army - not sure it's the kind of thing you would approve, altho I know you have no control over what ad plays before the vid.

  • well what a nice commercial penn!

  • sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony, sony,

  • stupid commercial! i dont get it.

  • An audiophile friend told me these sound amazing, and I trusted his ears and knowledge, and fuck oath, he was right!

    These sound tremendous!

I'm currently digesting Abbey Road and the White album.

Was weird listening to "Sexy Sadie" several times over, and then reading Susan Atkins died the next day.

  • Fuck is strong language. They didn't censor him, they didn't stop him from saying it. They just warn people who don't want to hear it that it's there.

  • The people who don't want to hear it, they are a bunch of cuntpickles.

  • I'm curious: what's the appeal of the mono version? Why do people go out of their way to hear the mono?

  • basically - for many of the early albums, mono was the way the songs were meant to be heard - stereo was only used by real "hi-fi" nerds in the early 60s.

So the songs sound different in their mono versions - and some purists don't like the "forced stereo" of some early Beatles tracks, where all the instruments come out of one speaker and the vocals come out of another.

  • It's the fucking FCC. The Fucking-Censorship- Cunts. Google is covering their asses.

  • Then let's fucking protest their pussy asses.

  • I love the new beatles rereleases, the extra stuff and the info in the booklets are great!

  • It's not really product placement when it's *his* blog, and things *he* genuinely enjoys.

  • Yo Penn! I'm really happy for you, and Imma let you finish, but I just got to say Bob Dylan has one of the best remastered albums of all time.

    ...OF ALL TIME!

(seriously though, I can't wait to get my hands on these Beatles recordings)

  • I wonder how much the Jackson estate is getting from the Beatles and who's claiming the money.

  • This just in: every Youtube comment is STILL retarded.

    Yes, this one too.

  • This video is chalk-full of ridiculous product placement. Please make videos with actual content.

    one-star for this one.

  • Your comment is filled with ridiculous drivel. Please refrain from such ignorance in the future, for your own sake.

  • Want to elaborate for me?

This is just like kipkay going out of his way to advertise for crest in his videos. It just gets annoying.

  • By all means, you first. Watching a video with someone talking about a product they just purchased by no means constitutes product placement. What the fuck did you expect when you clicked on a video titled The Beatles Remastered? I expected to hear someone discuss their listening experience with their purchase, which is what I got. Are you sure you're talking about the right video and not an advertisement on TV?

    Are you sane?

    Are you conscious?

How many fingers am I holding up?

  • Its not that hes just reviewing a product. He's just talking up two products "Beatles remastered" and "The three stooges". Both of which are produced by sony, who is Penn's employer.

Honestly, step down off of your pillar of self-righteousness and realize that your opinion is not the only opinion.

I watch penn says because I want to hear HIS opinion, not the opinion that sony tells him to have.

    Am I sane? no

How many fingers? WTF... Grow up and drop the internet tough-guy act.

  • LOLERCOASTER.

I guess the important question here is, are you a fan of The Beatles? If you are then you would understand the importance and gravity of this release. These discs sound incredible when compared to what was previously available to the public, including vinyl. A remastered catalog of arguably the most popular band of all time is quite a significant event to music enthusiasts. I don't think its accurate to portray this video as product placement, even with the Sony connection.

  • And another bone to pick: Stop trying to go out of your way to make yourself sound like a super smart guy. Its horrendously obvious you're trying too hard.

  • Feel threatened or something? Apologies for being a little too stern in pointing out your misleading ideas. Why do people have to create a paranoid agenda out of everything? Can't you accept this video for what it is?

  • Oh, I get it! You're a troll!

Hahaha... oh, wow. I haven't been trolled that well in a long time. You're good man.

  • Actually he's defending the video being watched that you are attacking. Need a mirror, troll?

  • thanks

  • No, not really trolling. Thanks for playing though. Shall I clean the mirror off for you?

  • HAHAHA... Oh, wow.

  • It was really nice arguing with you. I've taken many notes from your rhetoric. Its really not as childish as I once thought.

  • yeah, i haven't gotten the beatles box set yet. so i'm looking forward to getting it. i also want to get beatles rockband.

  • I like the Beatles..they are like sugar...sweet and pure...But by far Led Zeppelin is the all-time ...it's like fire....burning, and dangerous to be around....

  • I'm glad you're making money from this, but this overzealous product placement kinda sucks. But I still love your work!

  • agreed

  • It's hard for me to imagine what it would be like to have horrible taste. To say the Beatles and the Stooges suck is beyond bad taste, it is flat out stupid.

  • They suck ;)

  • wdf u guys are faggots the beatles rule

  • They have a few decent songs, but as a whole, I dont care for them. Check out Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Thats an awesome song by them.

  • I want to make love to a women to the entire Mono collection of The Beatles just the way the music was meant to listened to.

  • I gotta say, when they released the non-Phil Specter version of Let it Be, I still preferred the original market Specter release over the Beatles' intended version. But yeah, if you have the right system, even Rocky Raccoon sounds like Kashmir. I've got Anthology and a tight system - but I've also got my old turntable in very good condition and I just love hearing the old Beatles records on it above all else.

  • the beatles were the nsync of their day, youd have to of been a teenager at the time to be really into it

  • only their early songs catered to teens and...

    idk i totally disagree

  • WRONG. You know how many people under 30 today like the Beatles? No one cares about N'Sync now. The Beatles are still chart-toppers.

  • 19 and I love em.

  • I agree that the beatles are overrated, but the stooges are awesome.

  • dude your house looks like it's made out of cinderblock sherbert.

  • Its called stucco.

  • no ad for me? just 18+ crap

    Penn kicks ass!

  • There is nothing but the Beetles and the Three Stooges

  • It actually depends mostly on the speakers, if they aren't very good then you really won't notice much, but if you have some nice ones you can tell.

  • Get a better stereo system. The difference is astounding.

  • p3n0r?

  • FUCK YOUTUBE VIDEO ADS!

  • Firefox + AdBlock Plus

  • This works like a charm. No ads on youtube ever. Been using it forever.

  • sigh, god i know

  • Great sales pitch, product endorsement Penn!

    how much is that shit?

  • Awesome! Not First

  • i had to watch an advertisement before i could watch this advertisement.

  • What I wouldn't give to be sitting in that home theatre with those guys listening through that library. I love my hodge podge collection of the Beatles on vinyl, CD, and mp3. And I love my VHS copy of the Anthology. But boy I tell ya'-- this? This video? This is about an EVENT, man. This is an EVENT that makes me smile smile smile like it's my birthday and I'm going to Disneyworld. Rock on, Penn. Hope you guys have a great time.

  • Beatles <3

  • Im thinking about buying a few of them but Micheal ackson doesnt need the money anymore

  • Rah! Awesome!
